Thanks to all.
I have a lot of scruples for the above reasons but also because only 1 player of 5 is a skilled gamer, 2 are newbies and... 1 is my husband (ok this is not a great problem indeed :p).
Everyone's having fun for now, but they're only 3rd level. I guess game experience will improve if I'll let them try and fail too.

This may sound weird to many GMs but, after several modules and at the first chapter of RotR, it's now clear I'm absolutely incapable of killing a PC. We worked a lot on PCs' backgrounds and if one of them should die, I feel like we're throwing away all the invested time and effort.
So I find myself changing some rolls beside the screen or making NPCs behave in an suboptimal way. And I also think players begin to feel too safe about their choices.
We love the narrative part of the game but IT'S A GAME.
How can I change my approach without falling in a TPK game style?

I'm really confused about the dates. I read a lot of threads about this topic, but I can't make my mind up.
Is there an official version? I'd like to keep an internal coherence in case we'll play other APs related to RotR.

I knew I was in the right place.

Ok, I understand all your points of view and I agree.
Surely my poor English does not help to better explain.
I was just imagining these poor clerics who dig and, from the solid rock, here's a door!
I found a simple solution but it may work: the entry was in front of that door, but it was visible only from the sea. So the clerics found the dungeon open wide upon the sea, they sealed the opening with rocks and debris, so the only way is D15 down to E1.
It doesn't matter about lower levels existing in ancient time.

It 's definitely a subtlety, but I'm SURE one of the players to ask something about it. I try to be ready for all their tricky questions.

Thanks DM,
I was actually joking, because PCs are already very involved with Sandpoint and some of its citizens.
The strongest bond is between the half-elf druid and Shalelu: they are married for about 2 years and have a child.
The Varisian gipsy (a homemade mix between rogue and bard) is also a close friend of the Sheriff and the ranger is native of the region.
But I think we'll see some very interesting developments. ;)

However, I'll keep in high regard your suggestions, they're making me thinking about great ideas!

PS: sorry for my poor English, writing in this forum is the best exercise to me but it's also a great challenge (to you to read! LOL!).

Askren, I had your same thought, but there's something I just don't get.
If the Thassilonian complex was beneath and the stairs from D15 to E1 have been made from Lamashtu clerics, why is there a door in E1?
The structure at this level is not so damaged as to suggest a twisting of the structure itself.

But ok, maybe my question is a little nitpicking. :P

Well, I quite understand Nosdarb's point of view. My 5 players are not optimizers, just one of them knows very well the rules and his PC is the only one with a Strength exceeding 10.
So they are facing many difficulties encounter after encounter.

I admit I changed some dice rolls beside the to save them on some occasions.

But I also have to agree with those who says that so many troubles are a little strange. Maybe your DM is sticky to the rules, but it could be he misinterpreted something.

Or maybe it's not your adventure. Amen. :)

Thank you for all these fantastic work.
I downloaded Nualia's diary and added some entries.
Now my only fear is that players will hate Sandpoint and will do nothing to save it! :O

Hi everyone,
maybe my question is really stupid, but I can't figure out what the original structure of Thistletop was.
I mean, level 1 is the result of Lamashtu's clerics excavation, right?
So, where was the original entry to the complex? Below level 2? In that case, why a stone door and a trap in E1-E3? What was in front of the door if clerics dug the stair centuries later?
Do I miss anything?

Thanks in advance for any reply!

Thanks for this clarification.
In the wiki I found "Varisian" but it was so strange to me.

Thanks to both!
And thanks to Misroi for correction.
Funny enough I wrote it right in the second verse. :P
The repetition was intentional but this is way better.

So, a few nights after glassworks events, Ameiko sits with her samisen and sing this song...

To my lost enemy

Shattered glasses
is all that remains
Razor-sharp pieces
of those bitter days

Within your forge of brittleness
so gentle were your hands
so pitiful your littleness
while shouting your commands

Fueled by the jealousy
that stabbed your wounded pride
the rage that killed your clemency
made her a childless bride

But all the wrath you feeded
has fed your untrue blood
and regret words I needed
are gone with anger’s flood

So long you fought me in vain
dishonor, shame, dismay
Fate played its cards again
Poor you ghost, now go away

This topic just happened at the right time!
We started RoTR a few months ago and now PCs are just entered Thistletop.

I was looking for inspiration to write Nualia's diary and now I know what to scribble.

One of the player (who has convinced Tsuto to surrender, so he's still alive down the glassworks where he awaits for the PCs to return) has already said he wants to do the same thing with her. I don't think Nualia is convincibile with Diplomacy, but maybe they can find other ways to save her.

We'll know tomorrow night!
