Darksol the Painbringer Said:

My suggestion is to go with Aasimar. From there, I suggest you decide if you want to focus on Single Target Damage, or Area of Effect damage. (This is important, because your character choices are based on this decision.) If the former, go Azata-Blooded Aasimar, and replace your SLA with an increased Charisma (so +2 Dexterity, +4 Charisma). If the latter, go Peri-Blooded Aasimar, and replace your SLA with an increased Intelligence (so +4 Intelligence, +2 Charisma).

With Single Target, go Orc Bloodline Sorcerer. Pick up Blood Havoc and Blood Intensity. This will give you +2 Damage per dice you roll, and you roll an additional number of dice equal to your Charisma for a number of spells per day (doesn't stack with Intensify Spell). With 30 Point Buy, Post-racials, you should have this set-up.

Strength 8
Dexterity 20
Constitution 10
Intelligence 10
Wisdom 10
Charisma 22

Put all of your level-up attributes into Charisma. Specialize in Battering Blast by acquiring Magical Lineage and Wayang Spell Hunter for that spell, as well as Intensify Spell, Empower Spell, Quicken Spell, and Maximize Spell (if possible). Pump your Caster Level as high as possible for Battering Blast (Varisian Tattoo, Bloatmage Initiate, Spell Specialization feats, Orange Prism Ioun Stone, Karma Prayer Beads; Robes of the Summit if you can acquire them). Buff your to-hit with spells like Greater Heroism and Reduce Person. It will be slow at first, but later on in the game, you will be reliably one-shotting Tarrasques every round.

I'am having trouble doing the math here and how this would be set up at level 1.
Intensified Spell doesn't stack with Blood Intensity... So there is no point getting Intensified Spell when you can just get a plus 6 from CHA, making Battering Blast a 6d6.

Magical Lineage says: When you apply metamagic feats to this spell that add at least 1 level to the spell, treat its actual level as 1 lower for determining the spell’s final adjusted level.

So everytime I apply meta magic feats, I total of 4 here it looks like in the build, then I get +4 to caster levels? but treat the spell as a level 1 spell?

Level Increases for these metamagic feats... does that make the caster level higher? how does this effect Magical Lineage along with the spell?

As you can see, I'am having huge troubles understanding the math behind this.

as far as I know I can cast a Battering Blast at lvl 4, With all metamagic and Blood mutagens it would be:

15d6 + 30 flat damage from Blood Havoc and Orc bloodlines... and 4 balls... at lvl 4 bloodrager... for a total of: 480 damage. AND that not even INCLUDING anything here:

"Varisian Tattoo, Bloatmage Initiate, Spell Specialization feats, Orange Prism Ioun Stone, Karma Prayer Beads; Robes of the Summit if you can acquire them). Buff your to-hit with spells like Greater Heroism and Reduce Person."

So that damage would be much much higher with way many more balls, and even more once you level up.

When would this build even come fully online? What level can I start using this strategy? I honestly don't see the point, becasue early game you can only use this spell once per day... and your STR is much to low to go into combat. As far as I can tell, this build is completely useless starting at lvl 1.

ONE last thing that doesn't make sense: Blood Havoc: "This benefit applies only to damaging spells that belong to schools you have selected with Spell Focus or that are bloodline spells for your bloodline."
But the build doesn't say anything about Spell Focus so technically wouldn't I need this?

This is good all stuff. Thank you!

Thank you everyone! I got a lot of great advice. I must start working on my character now.
Thanks for the stats too. I'll be building a slayer first and a bard.

are you using a point buy system? or how are you doing stats?

We're purchasing: and using 21 points.

Tell you the truth, a bard is exactly what my team can use for a buffer/attacker. I never thought "Bard" when thinking what I can play.

I'll heavily consider it and speak with another player and see what he thinks.
Thank you!

Now about that slayer....

Hm, Ninja seems pretty good. Also Thank you For what my team really needs. Class recommendations can help me pick what I need, I was thinking a cleric or a sorcerer.

Slayers sound great as two-weapon scouts that can take out key targets, It's pretty much perfect other then not being ranged, but I can get over that as Smilodan said, pulling off sneak attack in pathfinder as ranged can be frustrating. So I'll pass on that as a new player.

I'll just find a race for slayer and he'll be my character.

I'll make a melee shadow dancer another time when we do happen to play around city's and towns. Or possibly a Vigilante.

So now I have two things to consider: How should I build my slayer as a scout/key target killer? (maybe with end game item suggestions please?)
And what my team REALLY needs. That I can find out the stuff on my own, but just getting a class recommendation helps.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Gm is starting us at level 4 with 7kgp

Wanting to be a Fetchling ranged/scout.

I did extensive research on the ranged rouge and some combos that would make it playable but all sounds not really that great... I was hoping I could kill key targets without being seen or heard. or relay information to my party and make sneak attacks without being seen or heard but it sounds that may not be possible.

I want the shadow dancer as well as it sounds amazing to sneak and teleport and attack from any direction I choose without being seen.

oracle level sounds like it could help.
Fighter levels can give me extra feats.

But overall this class sounds very specialized and not too sure how I can make this into a killing machine when needed (Key targets such as mages) and have it be an amazing scout.

Suggestion are welcome because I would love to know how this can be optimized or how it can work.

Btw I don't want to hear the shattering defense combo. It will not work for my play style.

We're playing with a Ranger, Barb, and a Monk and it's possible the monk may switch to a paladin.

I would also love to know what other fun classes to play with this party set-up.
