Role gate looks fun. Always willing to try a new medium (I also see that Meetch just started a Sprawl game over there.)

I formed it as “Ravenloft (DW)” password is “bucanero”

Good to hear, and happy holidays! Let me know if any of you are thinking about starting up a new game. I’m actually considering hopping back into the GM seat with a Dungeon World jaunt through a DW conversion of the original Ravenloft module that I’m working on.

Anyone interested?

Hey all, I thought this game was dead and since it was my only ongoing game I stopped checking back in.

Apologies for killing it. I had a blast. How’s the new game going?

By all means, let's visit the Iron Lord.

Meanwhile, Ron digs contentedly into some ancient texts, blissfully ignorant of this Golnaz character.

How are the Aboleths connected to the mindrending?

Where can I found out more about maintenance of the seals?

Is the Iron Lord relevant to our investigation?

Ron smiles as the approach the sparse bookshelf. He pushes past Roshan and begins reviewing the available titles. Interesting ...

Do I get the +1 for relevant information? We know quite a bit about the Aboleths at this point, I think I'd be able to find the most relevant book.

Ron whispers to Conwall. I believe the Iron Lord rules in that palace. I neglected to mention that she likely wants me dead, and not a quick death either. We should give her men a wide berth.

I think I've been to Boquek itself, in service of one of the former lords. I discovered he was mad beyond belief, and killed him for the good of the city. His daughter (and current Lord) witnessed my betrayal and has not forgiven me. Very much a kingslayer thing going on there.

Ron bows deeply to the Duchess and waits politely to be excused.

He then returns to the tavern the party had previously decided to use as a rendezvous point, grabs a pint, and settles in.

Ron is pretty old and a vet of foreign wars. Perhaps to speed things along we could make a devil’s bargain: Ron has traveled very close to our destination, but in his prior travels made a mortal enemy of a powerful faction with a long memory.

Not sure if that last bit of dialogue would trigger a roll. Just in case, here is a Charisma roll of some sort.

Charisma!: 2d6 + 0 ⇒ (5, 4) + 0 = 9

I'll use my leftover gambit from my Playing the Long Game move: "At the end of a battle (or when it makes sense) and your Gambit would reset to 0, you can keep 1 Gambit instead."

Flashback: Knowing that he would soon have another meeting with royalty, Ron spent the time waiting for Belym to finish burying the door by polishing his armor, prestidigitating, and generally making sure that he looked the part of Archbishop.

So that is a 10.

Ron approaches the Duchess. We've killed the last of the cultists. He approaches if she will let him, and speaks quietly. I have a favor to ask, and I ask not as a mercenary, or a godslayer, or what have ye. I ask ye as the first Archbishop of the Emerald Lady, because our world depends on it. I will open a portal, and I ask that ye send a contingent of your most loyal soldiers through with supplies for three months. Burn what documents ye find on the other side. Hold against all comers for two months. Don't explore. Don't excavate. Just kill anyone who enters. Ye have my word. In two months I will reopen the portal and return your men.

As they are finalizing their preparations for departure, Ron approaches Belym and whispers. I'm worried about these defenders. With the door open, they are vulnerable to all manner of assault. Could ye seal the door with stone? Might not be much, but its something.

Ron will also spend an hour thoroughly rifling through this cult complex. He is looking for documents, and any of his old gear.

Pelnore must be a last resort. The last thing I want to do is fight one hundred Conwalls.

Has Boqeuq been mentioned in the gameplay thread before? The search function seems to be broken. Also, it seems like the plague issue is tied to the aboleth issues, so we probably can't do more to help here in the duchy. Am I reading that right?

+3 from the questions as described by my betters.

Alignment: Outwit a Formidable Opponent. I think the shadow portal from inside Ulrich might count. I'll mark xp, unless told otherwise.

Bonds: The only one with any progress is Conwall: "I have let my fear of elves color my relationship with Conwall. I was wrong, he is worthy of my trust and friendship and I will prove it to him."

Conwall, do you feel that I've proven that I trust you and consider you a friend? If so, I'll resolve this one.

Yer empire was destroyed by some catastrophe. I don't know what kind. And it has been long enough that yer mage-king's name is no longer taught to our children. I am sorry for yer loss.

Ron turns to whisper to Conwall. Would the elves rally against this foe? Or would we only bring devastation to this entire province?

Ha, I completely forgot that mechanic. I think that first came about in Kobold campaign that Bastian and I played in with DM Mooshy, but I can't recall. Outlined in blue? As in blue mage? As the flames lick against his faceplate, Ron rushes towards some nearby shadows. He flashes red. I'll be back!

Cast Shadow Walk: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6) + 3 = 15

The river where we defeated Selwyn.

Ron stumbles out of the portal into the sunshine, and runs down to the river. He quickly submerges himself in the river, then sits up in the river and breathes deeply.

He stumbles back to shore and drinks a healing potion, before looking in the direction of Norwich. I'll be back to ye soon dearie.

After a moment's hesitation, he moves towards a nearby tree's shadow and flashes red again, more noticeably tinted with green.

Cast Shadow Walk: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4) + 3 = 12

The corridor outside the defeated Uxfaris.

Ron walks back in with a smile on his face, and dripping water. He walks up to Conwall to pat him on the shoulder. That one was yers me friend. Well fought.

Defend Conwall: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 6) + 3 = 12

Burn Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

I'll spend two hold to halve the effect of the attack on Conwall (whatever that might do) and open Uxfaris up to Conwall, giving Conwall +1 forward against Uxfaris.

So on the illustration: Roshan and Belym are over by the big pink door. The cultist that was by the door is dead, along with the two that were by Uxfaris' starting position. Uxfaris and the four cultists to the left have all merged into Mega-Uxfaris. So there are now three cultists near Conwall running for the pink door in terror. Conwall is still in his starting place. I'm out in the corridor outside the tan door. Is that all correct?

Inside a beast huh, I bet there isn't much light in there with me. This may not work so feel free to retcon it away ... but it will be damn cool if it does.

Without thinking, Ron flashes green and red, really more red than green at this point.

Cast Shadow Walk: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 3 = 11

The corridor outside where we just arrived.

Ron falls through as the portal opens inside Uxfaris.

Text for Shadowalk:

The shadows you target with this spell become a portal for you and your allies. Name a location, describing it with a number of words up to your level. Ret con my prior post. Still taking the ichor for myself instead of Roshan.

"Go! I'll follow.

Ron inspects the ichor as it crawls on his armor. He flashes green and red.
