Corwin felt much more at home with the Iomedeans that the "witch." Creepy old fart. Still the old man had given them some information. He hoped it was accurate. Fortunately, he doesn't really have to put on too many airs with the pious. Still, best to put on a polite face.

Dirissa moves up behind the automaton (is that what Keldor called it? Is that a kind of vegetable?) and tries to bash it with her hammer.

for what it's worth, Bree will cast nature's paths every day of their journey. "...the target treats any trackless terrain as though there were a trail or road, and any terrain with a road or trail as though there were a highway. Up to one creature per caster level traveling with the target can also benefit from the effect" So I can affect 5people with it and it lasts 8 hrs. If someone else can cast it as well, we can double that

Rig shakes his head as others go off in search of information on the Sandpoint devil. "Haven't we suffered enough here?" he says with a smile. Privately he wonders whether that THING under Thistletop is the real devil and if its power hasn't simply given people nightmares they've then attributed to some other creature. It's bad enough dealing with people and their wild imaginations, but having some legitimate demonic influence... yeesh.
Instead, Rig concentrates on more important things, i.e. helping Kargas (who is surprisingly light on his feet) with his lessons and just getting to know some of the people around town. Except for Shayliss. Nope, not going there. He's pretty sure her father knocked out one of his teeth.

Rig has several personal tasks to take care of over the next few weeks. It starts with trying to convince the dwarf to make him a new longsword, preferably a REALLY nice one. "Ya know, I'm happy to throw in for materials, it's just the whole creation process that is beyond me." With any luck, he might even learn something watching Guiness work on his various projects.
More importantly, he's been working on Kargas. "Look, big guy. I wanna help you. It's clear she likes music and dancing. Just let me show you a few steps you so don't embarrass yourself. I'm tellin' ya, ladies love a guy who's light on his feet."

Bree eyes the newcomers suspiciously. She doesn't want to enter into another unfortunate situation like they had before...twice now. Although, if these two are willing to help kill a couple of hobs, how bad could they be? And they clearly have something to offer. Still, she suggests to Thorek, "We may not want to bring them back to camp just yet? Maybe we could set them up at the shack of the ranger fellow with the cat?"
if Undari heals the wounded cat though, she'll probably let up pretty quickly

re: wizard prep time- pretty sure that was amended. "He must choose and prepare his spells ahead of time by getting 8 hours of sleep and spending 1 hour studying his spellbook."
"To prepare his daily spells, a wizard must first sleep for 8 hours. The wizard does not have to slumber for every minute of the time, but he must refrain from movement, combat, spellcasting, skill use, conversation, or any other fairly demanding physical or mental task during the rest period. If his rest is interrupted, each interruption adds 1 hour to the total amount of time he has to rest in order to clear his mind, and he must have at least 1 hour of uninterrupted rest immediately prior to preparing his spells. If the character does not need to sleep for some reason, he still must have 8 hours of restful calm before preparing any spells." Wizards are complicated dammit

Dirissa is fine with whatever watch she's woken up for. She may grumble a bit, but she won't hurt anyone...probably.

When Guiness suggests the star-thing may be a key, Rig holds up a hand. "Whoa there. Let's not be too hasty. I seem to recall the scary lady trying to free something locked up. On the off-hand chance that she didn't recognize that as a key, let's take a beat and think." He looks over to Colvyn. "Does that door look like it's been opened recently?"

Before they wander off and leave the prisoners unguarded, Rig suggests they deposit them each in a separate bedroom. "It will prevent them from cooperating to free each other, and if anyone follows in after us, they won't be there as a warning. And yeah, they'll be a bit more comfortable. There's no need to be cruel."
After that, he is ready to proceed and follows into the next rooms. Mostly he tries not to look too closely at the things in the torture room. He'd rather not know what went on here.

As the others swim to the boat, Trieste growls, the sound coming from down deep in her chest. The mention of the hag again muted her tirade a bit. Part of her anger was at herself for not being fast enough to save Kal. Gods he was a pain in the ass sometimes, but he was a good man. He didn't deserve this. She lifted the dagger he had carried to her chest. At least he died on his feet...as it were. She sheathed the dagger and brought out a couple of coins. Murmuring a prayer to Besmara, she flipped them out into deeper water.
As she made her way back to the boat, she realized how much she was dreading an encounter with this Helekhterie. At least Kal had some understanding of living with "awkward" parentage. I wish I'd talked to him about that more. Was he afraid of turning into a monster, too? Climbing into the boat, she helped steady it to pull Kaldan's body out of the water. She sat quietly by him for a minute, hunched over, with her arms wrapped around her knees, while the others helped Kragg aboard. Her tentacles snaked out and deftly plucked her companion from the sea. She grabbed up one of the oars and waited for Kragg to get settled. "Let's go home," she said softly.

few things to do in Montreal: St Josephs Oratory(lot's of stairs), Botanical Garden(not sure what's blooming), Olympic Park, Biodome, Insectarium is ok, there's Montreal Park (I think that's what it's called) at the top of the hill with a nice view. There's actually some neat archaeological/historical stuff there

I've found that putting a little [] next to prepared spells is useful on my character sheet, so that I can put an X in there when the spell is used ( like CLW[x])

Hmm. There's a possible reward for the guard we helped AND it might be a way to get paid. This might actually be an opportunity. "Well, we certainly want to do our part, right?" Danni says with a significant look to the others.

Once out of ear-shot of Udara, she adds, "Let me explain my reasoning. Nobody likes chaos, right? It's bad for business. Sooner or later, either the royals or the gangs are gonna establish some sort of order. I'm betting on the royals. I think the gangs are gonna be too busy fighting each other. They may take over a neighborhood here and there, but while they squabble, the royals will have more time to consolidate. I'm all for pitching in with the winning side.

"More importantly, this is gonna be a time of change. Real change. We'll be situated to be in the right place at the right time to whisper in the right ears. Or at least a hell of a lot closer than we would be otherwise. This is a once in a lifetime chance, especially for someone like me. We make a little coin and maybe do something right while we're at it. How about it?"

"Sanvil. How's about you come have a seat? You wanna talk about some artifacts? Have I got a doozy for you." With that Dirissa whips out her flashlight. "There's other ones, but this one's my favorite." She flips it on and off again, sometimes seeing how she can put the light behind behind her hand (which makes it glow red), sometimes with the light below her face, giving her a spooky spotlight.
she's trying to get him to stay. She's not happy about him pawing through their gear, but it isn't like she hasn't done that from time to time
