Rasmorn frowns, clearly torn and slightly nervous at the disagreement. "It does seem like nobody knows we are here yet, as unlikely as that sounds. If we open up a volley on the dogs, they can raise all sorts of noise and give us away. I don't like leaving things behind us, but I like less the idea of raising the alarm." He looks apologetically at Talia as he says this, clearly uncomfortable at disagreeing with his friend, but resolute anyway.

Rasmorn frowns in confusion, not having been to the top of the tower himself. However, he shrugs, and whispers back "I have another web spell prepared, if there are appropriate anchors for it. Can these dogs be seen from the tower top? Perhaps we could go up there and engage while Cade and Bellum guard from a ground assault?"

Sounds reasonable to me. I don't have much of an opinion really, provided I don't go through the doors first! I guess it might not be a bad idea for me to run a cautionary detect magic before each door. Maybe I detect magic while Talia checks for / disarms traps, and once the door is clear Laufey and/or Cade goes through first?

Take 10 on knowledge nature for 18

With the goblins safely dead for the moment, Rasmorn follows the others into the room and looks around. When Laufey points out the dagger, Rasmorn's eyes follow to where she is looking and his eyes widen slightly.

"A fancy dagger holding up some harpy wings! Fascinating. I wonder where a bunch of goblins got their hands on harpy wings?"

Rasmorn casts a quick spell, and then begins walking around the room looking at all the things.

Casting detect magic, looking first at the daggers and harpy wings, but also making a general sweep of the room.

Rasmorn's face falls in disappointment when the goblin doesn't fall. "Drat and bother..." He moves forward just a little, and sends a splash of acid at the goblin instead.

Rasmorn frowns at the one goblin still standing, and immediately begins casting a spell. When he finishes, a square of grease appears underneath the unsplit commando.

Rasmorn waits patiently, only slightly worried, but confident they would be able to meet back up.

Just to be clear, you are not to the main gate yet, so those of us not adventurous enough to go climbing a wall are still waiting, yes? And Cade cannot go climbing because Dog?

Rasmorn happily stands next to Cade and his dog, waiting patiently for the ladies to get the door. "This is going rather splendidly, isn't it? How delightful." Looking with sympathy at Cade's splinter, Rasmorn nods sympathetically. "I'm not much of a climber either" he whispers conspiratorially. "Haven't the height for it."

"Well then, that's that. Where to next?" Rasmorn asks, as he begins to look around.

Any clear blinking signs that say "bad guy this way"?

Rasmorn frowns at the webbing and the few remaining foes. I think this is just getting in the way now... He mutters a few arcane syllables and makes a few quick gestures, and the webbing all vanishes as quickly as it came. "There you go, no more mess!" He then looks down at the various dead goblin bodies and shrugs "well, at least less mess..."

Rasmorn looks at his scroll and shrugs. No room this time, I'll save it for later. Instead, he simply lets fly another glob of acid, this one at the furthest back goblin.

Rasmorn moves closer and, not having a clear path to use his scroll, simply lobs a glob of acid at the slightly-green-tinged goblin dog.

I was wondering if the reach from enlarge might help you attack into the webbed area without getting webbed yourself, and worried that burning hands might be hard to pull off with all the melees in the area. I'm fine working for an opening to do so, though, if you're fine without reach.

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

Rasmorn starts to move across the bridge, still a fair ways back. He stops after about 20 feet, and pulls a scroll out of his pack. He then teleports a little bit closer still.

Laufey, where are we at with your comfort at being enlarged by Rasmorn? I remember way back in the day, you said that she'd be hesitant, wondering if that is still the case.

If Laufey would accept / benefit from enlarged, I'll pull that scroll out, otherwise I'll pull out my CL3 burning hands.

I think the map itself got moved at some point - currently, several of the baddies are floating over the water. I'd be down to move it, but would rather have the map back in the right place first, and I'm not positive what that is.

Rasmorn nods back grimly to Talia, and then once more begins casting. When he finishes, webbing covers the entire area that the goblins are it. He looks at Cade and gestures over the bridge. "By all means, lead the way."

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

Having pulled back and discussed their plan to move forward, Rasmorn moves until he can see the area on the mainland side of the bridge, but staying as far away as possible. He pulls out a bit of fleece from his component pouch, and rattles off a short incantation. With a gesture, the silent image pops into existence, hiding them from the goblins across the way. "You're up, Talia!" he whispers.

Rasmon looks crestfallen as Laufey stops him, right before casting his spell. "but, but..." with a sigh, he pulls his hand back out of the pouch. "You are right, of course. We should at least investigate other ways in, first."

Works for me, and probably for the best. Murder hoboing might not be best here...

"Hmm, yes, I think that should do the trick..." Rasmorn mutters to himself. Then he grins, and reaches into his spell pouch, pulling out a bit of webbing as he moves forward just a little. A few arcane words and gestures later, he flings his hand out toward the goblins, casting forth the same web spell that had served them so well before.

Added a pattern on the map where I want the web to go.

"There!" he beams happily. "That should help!"

Rasmorn studies the group of goblins across the way, measuring with his mind's eye.

I have a couple of options - I can hit all but the two furthest east goblins with a DC17(will) glitterdust and try to blind them, or I can drop a DC17(ref) web on the whole lot of them. Glitterdust duration is only 3 rounds, but Web can potentially interfere with our movement too. Opinions?

Rasmorn nods his head at the Mutt distinction. "I suppose that makes sense." Still deep in thought, he follows along with the rest of the group, trying to be quiet but not being terribly successful at it.

As soon as they see that the dogs are missing, Rasmorn will pull out a scroll and cast a spell on himself. Using a scroll of mage armor "Definitely not good." He prepares to head off with the others, but then gets a very confused look on his face when their new friend speaks of dogs and mutts. "What is the difference between a dog and a mutt? Isn't a mutt a dog?" He seems to have lost interest in the goblins, ready to begin a fascinating discussion on the intricacies of canine species.

Rasmorn, who had barely been paying attention and seemed lost in thought, suddenly moved his head up sharply when Talia spoke. "Secret handshake? There's a secret handshake?" The bleachling looks crestfallen at the thought. "When did we come up with that?"

The next day, Rasmorn is up bright and early, having prepared his spells for the day already, and was enjoying a warm breakfast until the others awoke. "I really could get used to this..."

He set out eagerly with the others when everyone was ready to go.

Can we sell some of this loot we've gotten? At some point I'd really like to pick up a wand of magic missile for better long range pinging than my acid splash.

Rasmorn gets up a little slower than the others, and moves along quietly at the back. The plans for tomorrow swirled through his head as he did so, barely paying attention to the halfling, but wanting to stay with the others. He does take the time to examine him, though, looking him up and down, and just remembering to smile politely a hairs-breathe before it would have been awkward.

Remember that Thistletop is already relatively nearby to Sandpoint, being only a couple of hours travel.

Do we want to strip the goblin of his magical cloak/armor? It feels weird to make a surrendered and apparently helpful creature strip like that, but I wantz all the magic...

How late in the day is it? My initial inclination would be to press on, as we've already made quite a bit of noise (both metaphorical and literal) and I don't really want to let whatsherface know what's going on and have time to prepare. That being said, I could easily be persuaded otherwise.

Squeaking slightly in excitement, Rasmorn promptly forgets about the goblin, trusting in his friends to manage him. Instead, he begins to examine the potions and wands eagerly.

CL Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Whew! Gonna wait on a decision about fire spreading before taking my actions for the round.

Important rules question for this situation, regarding Web and fire; relevant rules text here:

Fiery Web Rules:

The strands of a web spell are flammable. A flaming weapon can slash them away as easily as a hand brushes away cobwebs. Any fire can set the webs alight and burn away one 5-foot square in 1 round. All creatures within flaming webs take 2d4 points of fire damage from the flames.

The question is, does the fire spread naturally through adjacent squares of the web, or do you have to ignite each five foot square individually? If I didn't move my flaming sphere this round, would only the one square be burned up, or would the adjacent squares now be on fire?

Rasmorn beams happily at Laufey. "You're most welcome - I've been itching to try that one!" He rummages in his pack briefly before pulling out a scroll. "This should compliment it nicely..." He begins to read from the scroll, before making a circle gesture with his outstretched arm in the direction of the goblin pack.

As he completes the gesture, a flaming sphere appears on top of the goblin furthest to the back.

Casting Flaming Sphere off of a scroll, CL5, Reflex save DC 13 negates the sphere damage but it should still ignite the web nicely, causing damage that way whether they make the save or no. Dropping the sphere on top of the dark purple bordered goblin in the back.
