Kobolds make me think of Tucker's Kobolds back in the day. They learned from continuous attacks by adventurers to use oil on them and light everything on fire. Fun fun stuff.

My players like toughness

Thank you so much for this information. I went back with a clear mind and reread the information on poisons and I understand now.

In nearly all situations, you can default to Perception on both sides.

Rules p.468 wrote:
Typically, you’ll roll a Perception check to determine your initiative—the more aware you are of your surroundings, the more quickly you can respond. Sometimes, though, the GM might call on you to roll some other type of check.

My confusion wasn't about what to roll for initiative. Using Athletics for initiative I actually got from a Jason B example.

My question was about whether the initiative required a second roll.

But I'll check the vids. Thanks.

Thank you

When does poison and persistent damage occur. Is it at the start of the next turn, is it on the turn of the player/monster who delivered it or is it on the turn of the player/monster receiving it or is it at the end of the round?

When you take a Research Field, does that restrict what formula's you can use? Or does it just give you the ability in the second paragraph under the research field. Example is bomber can restrict the splash damage.

As I read the Ranger ability Hunter's Edge/Precision. Am I reading it right that if the Ranger has the creature designated as his prey, once each round it takes an additional d8 precision damage?

Lowering boss enemy stats and level and reducing the number of foes will both help. But the game mastery guide includes a variant called Dual Classing which is pretty good for making sure they have the versatility they need. The PDFs are now available for purchase. Unfortunately, they are experiencing warehouse issues that are delaying shipment of the hardcopy, so I wound up buying both so I wouldn't have to wait.

I have a hardcopy of the Gamemasters Guide and hadn't read that far yet. I will look at it, thank you.

I am running Age of Ashes with only two players. What do I need to do besides lowering the numbers to make the encounters easier. I have thought of adding an NPC healer to the group, but I don't necessarily want to add an NPC.

I thought I read lowering AC and to hit, but if someone has a formula let me know.
