![]() Noted, I see a few of you covering NPCs in comments. In the case of an npc, is there an official guideline on what constitute a request? I foresee occasion where this might occur in the future, more specifically with allied npc (fellow adventurer but run by de gm). It would be easier to argue with an official answer if this comes up. Is there a degree of friendship to where it would not constitute a request? I can't find anything in the rulebook. ![]()
![]() An issue has come up in our last session where I was in an encounter and while moving to get in position to attack a foe, my character shouted to a friendly PC "Hey, come beside me to protect my back". My intention was to roleplay battle strategy, not to order around. My GM argued that this would normally be a Request action from the Diplomacy skill and should cost an action to do so but he would let it go for now as this was more of a roleplay perspective than an actual order. So my question is this, what would constitute an actual "Request" action per RAW. Would each time I call for a strategy one liner constitute a request? It seems odd to me as this would take as much time as saying anything else... ![]()
![]() I find myself having to build a rogue ad=nd I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to try and build the most defensive rogue possible so it would fair well on melee. I was thinking of MC sorcerer or bard to get a few self buff spell such as blur and haste and shield. Does that make sense or are there better alternative that would give me things that would compare well as those spells? I was thinking of using the shield spell to get a shield block in as well as another shield to keep the AC coming once I used the reaction and not being able to cast shield. Any thoughts on how to make a rogue sturdier and harder to hit? The goal would be to stay within reach to capitalize on 8th level class feat Opportunist and still be able to keep in melee without dropping first. ![]()
![]() We are playing a game where we roleplay our actions in combat but I struggle to find a way to roleplay a 1 action medecine check which takes 2 seconds. Anyone has any idea how to make this seems coincidental an not magical since it's not magic? What can anyone heal in 2 seconds while being coincidental? I understand time is flexible but still. ![]()
![]() Well, a Demon Mask is... just a mask. It does not make you a follower of a demon nor does it make you do bad things. It helps you intimidate better people. I would say that as per RAW, nothing prevents you from using it and it would not be Anathema to have and use one. What you use it for is what would make this Anathema. Using a Demon Mask to intimidate Evil doers is perfectly fine like if you are infiltrating a satanic cult and try to scare away the worshipers, than it would be perfectly fine. Using it to intimidate villagers into giving your their livestock, then it's a definite nono. Once again, this would also depend on your Deity. If your Deity prevents you from doing intimidating things of some sort, this might be an issue. ![]()
![]() Squiggit wrote: IDK, I feel like if I was playing a Barbarian, having a GM specifically designing encounters to try to prevent me from using my main combat mechanic would get old fast. Indeed, this is a very poor GM tactic. Like the enemy actually knows the exact mechanic of the rage action... Doing it once, ok. Doing this repeatedly might actually make your player rage quit, no pun intented :). ![]()
![]() Interestingly, Paizo did not include a definition of what an enemy is. You cannot find it in the core rulebook or the GMG (I might be mistaken but I did not find any reference to a specific definition). We would then have to deffer to a dictionnary to actually have a definition that would encapsulate the concept. So what is an enemy? According to Cambridge dictionary, an enemy is : B1 [ C ]
B2 [ C usually singular ]
something that harms something else:
So, according to the last definition, an enemy can be one of concept as well and not only a person per say. I would argue that a burning building burning my sister would indeed be something that would harm something else I care about. It is by no mean far fetched that someone completely loose it do go through the door to save his sister. This would both fit thematically as well as rules are applied. Just put yourself in the same situation and try to understand the emotional distress of such a situation. This as been seen IRL people charging into a flaming building to save someone. If the situation actually implicates something that is harming something you care about or yourself, this would work as RAW per the actual definition of what an enemy is. The key is that it must actually harm something to warrant an emotional response big enough. Also, saying that you can simply be angry and not be in fury over this situation OVERLY reduce the actual emotional distress of the situation. Having my sister trapped in a burning building wouldn't simply make me "angry". I would probably loose it completely. If I was a raging barbarian, this could really lead to me raging, wanting to destroy anything in my path to save my sister. ![]()
![]() I know that AoO get's triggered by manipulate actions. Then if a Rogue uses the Mug feat, since Mug let's you steal and that steal as the Manipulate trait, it would trigger an AoO from an NPC/Monster who would have it. That being said, using steal on a success let the NPC/Monster unaware of the actual steal action... And since AoO is triggered before the roll for steal, an NPC/Monster might be able to prevent the Mug even if unaware of the actual Mug... Seems to me like this is an issue. Did that came up in any game anyone had? Seems to me like there should be an exception for this one which would be logical IRL even though it's not RAW? Any input on the matter? ![]()
![]() Not to be a bummer but by RAW, I don't think it's clear if the decision on which attacks get the precision damage occurs before or after the strike as been resolved. You add any precision damage only once, to the attack of your choice. This would greatly affect how much damage it does and should be resolved. ![]()
![]() Am I reading correctly that when an ally targets you for a heal spell for exemple while you are under the effect of a blur spell, they have to make the flat check as well to see if they can target you? And what if the spell comes from an area effect like bless, do you still need to make the flat check? I'm trying to figure out when you need to make the flat check. As I understand, it's whenever something targets you whether it's from a strike, an ability or any spell? Is it only for direct target? ![]()
![]() Just wanted to make sure this combo is actually working the way I understand. If you go rogue, mc fighter through archetype dedication and get the lunge feat for class feats 2 and 4 and then get gang up on lvl 6, this would allow you to attack with finesse weapon from behind the group tank and still get your sneak attack in at reach? This would definitely help to mitigate the squeeshiness of the rogue while still contributing to damage considerably. |
