After a harrowing life living as a Pathfinder-wizard-Templar among the knights of Mendev, you’ve decided (like many young people of your age and heritage) that you really just want to go out into wilderness and “find yourself” among the ‘noble savages’ of the RotML.

Unexpectedly…the Mammoth Lords were not only willing to take you in, but proved to have a much, much deeper societal structure than you were prepared for- and they are NOT interested in learning any of that ‘progress’ you had hoped to impart.

The truth is- you’re also starting to doubt some of that self-same ‘progress’ anyway, and maybe that’s kinda the point of your personal mission of self-discovery. In any case, the Broken Tusk Tribe has already agreed to share with you their ways, and allow you to record that knowledge whilst continuing any “non-meddling”, magical research.

In return, you will one day act as their liaison with the Pathfinder Society- working to bring to the Society whatever knowledge the Tusks are willing to share ‘in exchange’ for whatever outside knowledge the Tusks are willing to receive. Fair enough. But so far the only subjects this crazy old man seems interested in concern nature; religion; Demonology; current news across Golarian; and boring historical trivia. A few examples you ask? Sarenrae; the released and forgotten Elemental Lords; Old Sarkoris; the rise of Irrisen; closing of the WorldWound; a friendlier Hold of Belkezin; and the return of Tar-Baphon…

**yawn**

But it’s not so bad. The Tusks for the most part leave you alone to scribble notes in your Tapir-hide tome(s), and you’ve kept yourself busy planning/Macgyvering a gigantic, waterproof ‘saddlebag’ -in anticipation of your own mammoth one day- to magically protect all your books, scrolls, and ‘other necessary comforts’ you might need.

Some days, you honestly have serious doubts about your decision. You’re still unused to the hard labour and harsh elements, flora, and fauna you’ve so far subjected yourself to.

...

That's sensational !

I love Pathfinder and have invested heavily in the books, adventure paths and modules. I will not be going back to D & D.

So here's the thing. I'm sitting here at work checking out the order that I placed with Paizo as part of the Great Golem Sale, and I started to reminisce about what this game means to me. When the other lot lost the plot and developed 4th edition, it was a very easy decision for me to jump to Pathfinder and I have not looked back as it's such a superior game.

I started playing DnD as a teen back in the early 80's, and have been an avid roleplayer ever since. Back then there was a mid-40's bald chubby bloke that had every book, miniature and module known to man. He was the envy of all of us younger players. Oh to have such gear!
Well, after going nuts at the Golem sale over the weekend I have now officially become that bloke (except I still have a complete head of hair).

So the question is why have I become him? I guess it's because I love this game so much. I'm currently running the Shattered Star for 2 separate groups of friends and find it both challenging and incredibly rewarding. I've been playing with some of these people since I started out; it's been something that's kept us together for all these years. My wife plays in the other group so it's a bit of a family affair which is nice (although hitting her with a critical has caused me a bit of grief). I may even start up a session with my youngest son over the holidays.

I really don't know why I started this post, but I think what I'm trying to say is thanks Paizo. Thanks for the incredible game that you've continued to develop and I really look forward to playing it for many years to come.

Regards

Prux.

A good Fighter build or a good melee build? I ask because I have a truly unkillable Paladin that has been a blast to play (and has gone through that very same AP) and I just posted a mini-guide detailing my favorite Barbarian tank build here. If you just want a martial character who's capable of dealing a lot of damage and staying out of harm's way I also have a great Archer build as well.

If you're set on Fighter though, this might be a good way to go:

Human Fighter (Weapon Master)

Attributes:
STR - 18 (+2 racial bonus, +1 at 4th, 8th, 12th and 16th)
DEX - 14
CON - 14
INT - 14
WIS - 11 (+1 at 20th level)
CHA - 8

Traits:
Defender of the Society
Birthmark

Feats:
1st - Power Attack
1st - Cleave
1st - Dodge
2nd - Mobility
3rd - Combat Expertise
4th - Spring Attack [Retrain Cleave to Whirlwind Attack]
5th - Combat Reflexes
6th - Lunge
7th - Weapon Focus: Bardiche
8th - Improved Critical: Bardiche
9th - Weapon Specialization: Bardiche
10th - Critical Focus
11th - Dazing Assault
12th - Sickening Critical
13th - Staggering Critical
14th - Critical Mastery
15th - Greater Weapon Focus: Bardiche
16th - Greater Weapon Specialization: Bardiche
17th - Stunning Critical

Here's the low-down: by 6th level (where you start), you'll be capable of executing a Lunging Whirlwind Attack and with a reach weapon no less, meaning every round you can pretty much attack everything on the battlefield - especially once you keep in mind that you can execute a five foot step during that Whirlwind Attack. At 11th level that becomes a Dazing Whirlwind Attack which offers some tremendous battlefield control. He's no where near as survivable or as versatile out of combat as the three builds I mentioned above, but I've had this character do some truly amazing things on the battlefield.

A couple of quick notes - if you manage to get a Keen Bardiche, I reccomend swapping out...

Do you have the Paladin build too?
