Thestil breathes a sigh of relief, but it appears they are not out of the woods yet. There had to be a way out without being seen...
Thestil gasps as she breathes the toxic, incapacitating fumes, but nevertheless activates her wand again, hoping to end the battle with sheer force.
Thestil, her previous spells having failed against the bizarre enemy, draws a wand and casts several balls of force toward the creature.
With their creepy experiment "ally" locked in melee with the strange creature, Thestil decides to weaken their enemy with a spell. However, trying to compensate for the location of her ally means her spell goes wide.
Hoping to slow the enemy down while all her companions arrive, Thestil casts a spell to harass the creature.
Thestil, still trying to weigh the creature's capabilities, casts a defensive buff.
Thestil, seeing the others making their way past the oozes, makes a similar plan. Activating her Cape of the Montebank, she disappears in a cloud of smoke, only to reappear much closer to the action.
Still not liking the writhing bodies on the tables, Thestil moves quietly to the side of the next to quiet it. The poor wretches are better off out of their misery, and I don't want them released at our backs.
"I do not like the thought of these bodies behind us...they do not look quite...dead to me," Thestil says. Drawing her bladed belt, she attacks the one closest to her to make sure it is dead.
Thestil silently follows after the others, trying to remain out of sight.
Thestil looks on in shock, glad she hadn't opened the cabinet. "Do not think to harm another of us, creature, or we shall all turn on you together," she says. "But for now, we will be your allies. Do you know the way to Kar Zaweeb?"
"Agreed," Thestil says. "Let it go."
Unsure what the rod does that she had found, Thestil hands it to the spellcasters for examination. "Any ideas?"
Thestil shares her find of the strange flatworm floating in the tank with the others. "I'm not sure what to make of it," she says as she continues looking for allies.
Seeing the others engaged in other activities, Thestil tries to locate some allies that might assist them.

Thestil looks at them menacingly. "You burn one more paper and I'll kill you all myself!" she says. Still in her borrowed form, she says "What are you doing, and who told you to burn all this?"
Thestil also frowns at the alarm. "We are taking too long...we must hurry!" she whispers as she follows Falth.
Thestil doesn't have anything additional to add after glancing at the notes.
Thestil, her target down, joins in attacking the crystal.
Swinging her bladed belt well this time, Thestil tries to finish off the orange-clad guard, then steps backward.
Not liking this straight-up combat, Thestil attacks the orange warrior a few times with her bladed belt, then steps backward.
Thestil moves forward to engage the orange-clad warrior, but her bladed belt catches as she attempts to remove it, and she cannot strike the enemy with it.
Seeing the enemy clustered tightly together, Thestil steps into the room and casts glitterdust between the three, catching the all in a blinding spell.
Thestil shrugs at Shohirajj, unaccustomed to waiting around while she could be taking action. "She likely ran into the other 'me' somewhere else and realized something was wrong. Now she'll bring down the whole camp on us here, while we could have been in and out. She's not coming back...what now?"
Thestil purses her lips as she considers their options. "I think we should press forward without delay. Reset the trap and the secret door and investigate while we have time. She may think I've gone somewhere else in the compound, rather than down here. Or, she may have already found the other me somewhere else and be coming back. Regardless, I think we need to get this done quickly."
Thestil nods at Emaray. "What we have come to do, we must do quickly," she says as she begins searching for the entrance.
Thestil nods and closes the gate after the woman. We haven't much time should she run into the real Joliryn. The doppelganger turns on her heel and walks toward the manor.
Thestil nods in agreement. "I'm a great distraction," she says. "Just be ready when I knock." She head back over to the front gate, and once the others are in position and give the signal, rattles the gate. "Hey, I forgot something!" she yells.
Thestil reports back to the others, and lets them know she could probably knock on the gate to get inside. Perhaps she could even get the others in, acting as Joliryn, but they would need a good reason.
Thestil moves over to the locked gate and investigates.
Thestil waits for a minute, then enters the building she saw Joliryn leave previously.
Thestil studies the woman intently as she passes. Once she is gone, the doppelganger's form begins to contort, and suddenly, Joliryn stands in Thestil's place. "I think I forgot something back there," she says.
Thestil joins Falth as they move toward the shrine.
"The shrine looks like a good place to visit next," Thestil agrees.
Thestil sighs and sits down on one of the empty bunks, trying to look the part of a new worker. She takes a moment and then says to Eramay and Shohiraj, "I don't think the entrance will be in these worker huts. Look around, but I don't think a place this unsecured would be where they would put it."
FYI, I am going on a road trip with my family for Fall Break (Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil's Tower, Badlands, etc. in South Dakota). Though I may end up posting, I am likely to be extremely limited through next Tuesday. Please feel free to bot me!
Thestil looks around. "Those look like some likely candidates for the entrance. I think we should stick together, though. Perhaps we could disguise ourselves as workers," she says. Her form abruptly changes to that of a male dwarf, then a female elf, then back to her normal form. "I just need to see what the workers look like," she says.
"Yeah, let's go," Thestil says.
"I think we will be able to come up with a plan once we are there," Thestil says. "I can be anyone."
"No one will know we were there," Thestil promises.
An unusually attractive young woman smirks at the others. "Indeed...we will fight where we must, but I prefer doing things a little cleaner. I'm hopeful they won't even realize we were there." She thinks for a minute, then says "This Wirholt’s Rictus...when is the next scheduled business with it? What is the bi-annual business conducted there?"

Mavaro walks over carefully, not wanting to ruin Kyra's efforts. "Explain...maybe we can help," he says.

"Let's go look for him, then," Mavaro nods.
Mavaro smiles in relief as they fend off the assassins. "It appears we have completed our tasks...is there anything left to accomplish here?"
