![]() Neat, thank you! I'll probably end up delaying Shifting feats for Toughness and Feral Vitality. It's not a lot of healing in combat, but it gets rid of the need for out of combat worry about healing, at least on the part of those with it. It's really good at patching up. Not to mention, it's a pre-requisite for the prestige class I'd like to enter. ![]()
![]() That is the case, but the extra feat really helps things along, I find. I'm not a huge fan of either of the Half-races, in pathfinder, to be honest. I'm still not really set on whether I'm going to start with Toughness or a Shifting feat. I'd really like to do some Shifting, but I need Feral Vitality for my Prestige of choice. Worse comes to worst, if chosen (and we get that far), I can select some shifting feats using my bloodline feats, I suppose. On my phone at the moment, so can't easily check, but I'm pretty sure shifting feats get added to the bonus feat lists of shapeshifters, right? ![]()

The way I was reading the ability, as well as the DM in the game I'm playing one in, read it to apply to the THP regained via Natural Attacks for In Wolf's Clothing, as well, which makes it much more efficient. It's not exactly guaranteed that that's the way it works, however. Psychic Platform is one of my favorite of the new blade skills from the Augmented line. I've gotten into a habit of making all of my soulknives Humans for the Favored Class Bonus, +1/6 Extra Blade skill feat. ![]()
![]() I was absolutely suggesting you receive Gifted Blade, but I don't believe I mentioned War Soul. In my experience, soul knives are strong enough in combat already, even moreso the Moonlight Meditant with its class features and heavily sped up Enhanced Mind Blade progression, that it doesn't need extra combat power from War Soul. By the way, I highly recommend the trait from Soulknives Augmented II that lets you pick a weapon ability from off the regular list, and take a look at Lifesurge. Even if you don't take that, there are some really neat, flavorful effects you can add on, like Limning or Heartseeker. ![]()

My comment on the matter wasn't really a "You deserve to have the gifted blade progression tacked on" statement; I always think that SKs should have Gifted Blade tacked on, but moreso when the campaign is high-magic or high-power in general. That said, I think War Soul is a bit much to get for free. For their stuff, they give up not just psychic strike, but also the blade skills at Levels 4 and 10. Between psychic strike and two blade skills, War Soul is a really hefty investment, and I think it's a bit much to get for free, even in this sort of campaign. In any case, I'm not the GM, so none of what I've said, for or against LotW or any options contained therein, really matters too much. ![]()
![]() I've got some ideas, but nothing remotely set in stone. If selected, I'd like to pursue the Greater Werewolf prestige class presented in the Lords of the Wild playtest. I'll have more of the fluffy, cuddly bits of wolf sometime in the next day or two. For now, is just the munch and crunch. Edit: I also need to pick up gear, which shouldn't take terribly long. If we're using the Pack stuff from LotW, I'm itchin to be that Alpha, though I'm certainly not a shoo-in for the position. ![]()

![]() I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to drop out. There are things IRL that are limiting my time to be online, and I can't give this the attention I should. As it is, I may have to drop one or two more games, but this is the one which has gone the least far, so it should be at least possible to find a replacement for me. ![]()

![]() As long as we're in a group, out in the open is fine. However, when there are certain things that only certain people have access to, such as your spoiler to Erdath above, then it should be spoilered with that person's name. The same holds true for splitting the party. Just a suggestion, I'm not trying to tell you how to DM. Since the warforged seems to have things in good hands, Pauwell sits on the sidelines and listens. ![]()

![]() Erdath, those feats that are labelled [Flaw] are exactly that. Perhaps I should move them to their own section. Flaws are things you can pick up, introduced in Unearthed Arcana, which give you an extra feat in exchange for a penalty. Vulnerable gives an untyped -1 AC to you, while beastly gives me a -2 to all Cha skills other than Handle Animal, and makes me affectable by spells like Dominate Animal. Edit: Editing my character to have a Flaw section. ![]()
Male Human Werewolf Unshackled Rager 1
![]() Erdath, two of those feats are labelled as flaws. I put them in the feats section simply because they are related to feats. The competence bonus is from my Kruthik claws. The way soulmelds work is I get to shape a few of them in the morning, and bind a few, based on my level. They give a passive bonus, and I can infuse points of Essentia into them, giving a higher bonus. I'll be updating my profile with fuller descriptions of the Soulmelds, but what they actually do is still there. Essentia is invested on a round-by-round basis, unless a feat says that it is invested once in the morning, and stuck all day. As well, my soulmelds have a limit of 1 essentia point, other than the Manticore Belt, which is Bound to my totem, giving it an extra capacity point, and my Kruthik Claws, which I have applied my Expanded Essentia Capacity feat to for the day, both giving them a capacity of two, while my Lammasu Mantle has a capacity of one. Erdath, with your most recent post, you won't get anything from a spellcraft check on bottles without a Detect Magic or Identify spell running. DM Ashman, it would be better, at least in my opinion, if you labelled spoilers for specific people with their name. Pauwell coughs when Cil leaves, but as she was asked, she can be the one to tail. Turning to the Dwarf, he says. "Sure, I can help ya. As much as I can, leastwise," he finishes, ignoring Saronis's plea for him to stop using the nickname. ![]()

![]() Cil can go ahead and follow her, but as far as I know, she's not the most silent. I have a sitting mod of +9 for both Hide/Move Silently, and can boost them both up to +13. Edit: 1 is from being level 1, a second is from Azurin, which gives a bonus feat like a human, the third and fourth come from flaws, as per Unearthed Arcana. Saronis is just a fighter, and as such, gets bonus feats. ![]()

![]() "Grammar's not all life's got for ya, Saro," he says, placing his hand haphazardly on the elf's shoulder. "If ya gonna make fun of the way people speak their words, I may not be a bad target, ya know," he says, grinning widely. He orders a stiff drink, downing half of it immediately as he is accustomed to. He pays little attention to the argument, his attention focused on the female for a few seconds before returning his eyes to the rest of the group. ![]()

![]() Huh, so it does. For whatever reason, I read that as replacing, not in addition to. That means Wild elf gives +4 Dex, -2 Con, -2 Int? Intense. In any case, I apologize for the misunderstanding. :) I've got a few things to tie up here now that I've gotten home, and then I can hammer out the last bits of gear, update Pauwell's info, reformat it, etc. ![]()

![]() Saronis, what book is Wood Elf in? The only book I can think of that has it would be the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, and probably Races of Faerun as well. Just curious. Once I get home from class, I'll finish up Pauwell, and have him ready to go. Sorry it's taken so long, I don't have a ton of free time. ![]()

![]() DM Ashman, I was wondering if we had access to the Arms and Equipment guide? I was wondering about a few things, namely a bag or two of marbles, a folding grappling hook, a springwall or two, and a hammock. This'll still leave me with a decent chunk of change, but I was wondering about your thoughts. Saronis, I was looking at your point buy, and you seem to be going by the Pathfinder point-buy rules, not the 3.5 ones. ![]()

![]() I do have some questions concerning gear, though. Do we have access to the Arms and Equipment guide for some mundane items? Some items I'm looking at in particular are the hammock, a springwall or two, a bag of marbles or two, and a collapsible grappling hook. Total, I'm looking at the above stuff, Gear: 243.5gp - whatever I'm allowed to purchase
42.5 lbs total + Weight of allowed extra gear. ![]()

![]() Saronis, my Class and Race are from Magic of Incarnum. Really sorry my stuff isn't up yet. I've had a hell of a time getting to my computer lately. My backstory right now is: Backstory:
I was found by a tribe of shifters after a camping trip with my family, at the age of 5 or so, went wrong. My parents, Lynn and Maurice de'Cannith, were mauled by a magical beast. (If something specific is better for you, DM Ashman, feel free to change it, but the default will be owlbear.) For whatever reason, be it the closeness of my own soul to those of magical beasts, or my piercing blue eyes, or sheer luck, the owlbear decided to let me live.
Which brings us to the shifters. The shifters decided to take me in, seeing this hairy little kid crying in the forest. Eventually, they got me to calm down, but the shock of what had happened seemed to have wiped my memory. I didn't know who I was, nor where I was. Some, they taught me, but they kept the fact that I was actually human, (or nearly indistinguishable from human) as well as my parentage. They raised me as their own, brushing off the lack of body/facial hair as I was growing up to being a late bloomer. Although I couldn't compete in direct combat as well as the others, my control over Incarnum appeared around the age of 15-16, allowing me to become as stealthy, if not more so, than a lot of the other young ones, and a little bit tougher, too. At the age of 18, I was finally told about my heritage. I was incredibly adamant that I wasn't from the Cannith line, that I was actually born of them. My facial and body hair had finally grown in, after all. I was presented with proof, a small ID with my birth name, a signet ring of Cannith, and a few other trinkets solidifying my non-shifter blood in my mind. And so I ran away, turning to the military to take my mind off of everything. The lies my life had become, and figuring out what to do. I continued going by the name I had while a shifter, Pauwell Bas, and not my given name, Maurice de'Cannith. Cannith, after all, had denied me my birthrights, and denied that I was indeed a Cannith. The military was harsh, but then, so was life with the shifters. It felt somewhat natural, although I could easily let my emotions fly free during anything. My abilities lent themself quite well to scouting, and so a scout I became. My abilities progressed, and I found myself able to shape more things, from the claws I had since these powers arrived to a shirt of sorts, allowing me to teleport short distances. These only solidified my place as a scout. My abilities were deemed to be helpful in an urban setting, and so I was told to go to Sharn, to help investigate the Mourning. Although I initially disagreed, I still went. I have now been there for 30 days, each of the marks I had tailed leading to dead ends. I'm not entirely sure how we could have met. Perhaps you saw me a few times, tailing people you thought were interesting, and decided to check out who I was, what I was doing here, etc? Once you found out what you could, you decided to try and recruit me? Still working on gear, will get that up soon. Edit: If I need to change anything, (namely the cannith stuff, most likely,) Just tell me, and I can get that out of there. I thought it would provide a nice bias towards Cannith for Pauwell. ![]()
Male Human Werewolf Unshackled Rager 1
![]() I'm not entirely sure I follow. Do you mean, if you have a higher bonus, you roll twice and take the best, and if not, take the worst? All that does is stack the odds even more in favor of the person with higher mods. The fractional BAB is a little extra bookkeeping, but it helps multiclass characters with less than full BAB to hit, which you often need if multiclassing multiple 3/4 BAB classes, and fractional saves don't give much of a benefit overall. You might see a difference of +1 to +2 over a career with saves being used. Pauwell Bas's build is up, sans gear. Has been since last night. Once I finish up gear, I'll reformat it, because I know that it's an eyesore, and put the required info in the classes/levels section. ![]()
Male Human Werewolf Unshackled Rager 1
![]() As a future multiclasser, I figure it to be in my best interests to ask whether you will be using fractional BAB/Saves. As you don't have Unearthed Arcana, I'll explain it here. Good BAB Gives +1/level
This is added up, and the end value, rounded down, is your BAB. This makes it a little less penalizing to multiclass with 3/4 BAB classes. For saves: Good gives +.5 /level
This is actually often detrimental. The +2 bonus from a good save is only applied once, so you won't see a person with 3 classes getting a +6 save before ability scores or additional advancement. Edit: Jeez, I guess I was wrong. The +2 stays. Your bonus is just +2.5 at 1st level. ![]()

![]() Unearthed Arcana (3.5) has traits of its own, as well as flaws. They aren't like PF traits. You make sacrifices to get bonuses. Just going to draw attention to another edit I made, regarding Strongheart halfling in the post above. Actually, I'll just quote it. Totem wrote:

![]() I'll get a build up by later today, backstory up by either tonight or tomorrow. Are you sure you want to change it back to 3.5 skills? :( I've thought about it, and I'll make a sneaky ranged character. Not often done with totemists, and the utility should be good. I'll probably multiclass. I'll change the name and pic of this profile once I'm done with what I need to. Edit: Question, can we use Flaws/Traits from Unearthed Arcana? I know some DMs let them be used, some don't, just thought I'd ask. Another thing I'd like to know is if I could use a modified Strongheart halfling. Strongheart halfling can be found in the Faerun Campaign Setting. I figured I'd ask because I saw a wood elf in here. :) The modification I had in mind was similar to the Human-Azurin conversion. Take off some skill stuff for an extra point of essentia. I'm not sure if it's worth all of the skills that halflings get, but if you're willing to think about it, I can work with you on it. ![]()
![]() Well, a totemist at all, really. While I had the original idea for a warforged, it'd probably be better to go with Azurin/human/halfling, mechanically and backstory-wise. If someone ends up dropping out for whatever reason, I am available as an alternate if needed. Otherwise, I'm just gonna follow the campaign. |
