Beware, for there may be more undead loose in the bogs and the ones we encountered were quite dangerous." Parnes raises his visor to show his face to the townsfolk. "I believe there is a moral somewhere here about not judging a book by its cover. And just as an honorable heart can be found in a creature assumed to be monstrous, redemption can be found even amongst the lowliest of villians. There is no penalty for wielding two single handed weapons but the only advantage without special feats is the benefit of having two different weapons with different qualities, as you can't normally make more than your normal number of strikes. I guess I think the rules are actually pretty clear regarding rarity. You need to meet the access conditions to use it. I think the confusion lies in ONLY reading the rules on learning spells, which doesn't specifically address rarity at all. But the rules in the Corerule book aren't written specifically for PFS. In a home game it makes sense that if the GM gives the party a spell book with teleport in it, he has decided that he wants that in the game. And it usually wouldn't be considered fair to let one wizard learn the spell but then not let the other wizard also learn it. Spell sharing in a home game makes more sense. But in PFS, these are options that you either buy with feats or Achievement points, or something earned on your chronicle sheet. And the OPF guide clearly states you need to meet the access conditions for uncommon and rare items. Merely copying the formula doesn't meet the access conditions. Consider that you also need to own the source material to use an option. It doesn't matter if someone in the party has a spell book with a spell you want. Yes, in theory your character is just as capable of learning and casting the spell as any other wizard, but you still don't have legal access to it and shouldn't be using it in game.

I have never been able to find anything in the organized play guide about whether you can learn spells from other players. It just says you can learn common spells from the various tutors at the lodge at no additional cost. So there's no real advantage in copying spells from each other's books; unless someone had an uncommon or rare spell. This is from the OPF guide online.

That being said, I am extremely skeptical that players can copy uncommon spells and formulas from each others books. Normally you need to have a specific boon or feat to have access to uncommon options and this just seems like too easy of a work around. By the way, thanks for GMing and thanks to everybody else who played. This was a really great session. Parnes actually got knocked unconscious, which was a first for him.
