Okay, now i know why people say its strong. Thats a start, thank you!
Good evening everyone,
now that i have heared a lot about the infamous "Lunar Purifier Oracle Noble Scion Build" I am kind of curious about what it actually is/does.
It seems everyone except for me knows it.
Could somebody help me out please?
Alright, thank you very much for your expalanations!
I will adress this to my dm beforethe next session!
Hello everyone,
for the sake of clarifying my question: When is refer to "charming" in this post i mean a contested charisma check and not a spell or something else migical.
I come dnd 5e and here you can also attempt to do so and then maybe another creature will have a more friendly attitude towards you.
Now in my Pathfinder campaign theres this 1 issue: our dm loves confronting us with NPCs who often try to charm a person and what feels like never rolle lower then 30 overall.
Now i kind of struggle with the thought that just because of a check like this my Character who MOST OF THE TIME supspects those NPCs to be untrustworthy or even hostile (the demon lady or the spy bard) would want to go to bed with them.
Since i am still pretty new i wanted to know if it actually works this way in pathfinder?
Does my character really just get dump, drops any suspicion and wants to "mate" them?!?

Well the Warpriest sounds pretty good.
It fits the idea of beeing able to take control of the battlefield by having some magic at his disposal. Brings in a decent tankiness and isnt helpless in melee comabt either.

Aside from that i would like the idea of a character thats able to cast, be a friendly and helpfull guy but if you hurt my party i turn monster-mode and crush you :)

The former would be truly ridiculous (and would genuinly make me question the GM's mental capabilities), but the latter is very reasonable. Also, banning evil alignment is totally normal, but lawful? Are you sure about that? What's the GM's reasoning for that? Alright so the summoner because he doesnt want to have someone summon a whole lot of allies and having such a logn initiative chain, also because in his opinion its the most over powered class (for some reason). So he doesnt allow the class
Necromany is banned aminly because of the fact that we could create undead or control undead, wich he doesnt want to but in general necromancy is evil and to keep it simple this school is banned....
As for the lawful alignment: he doesnt want us to play an alignment (in this specific campaign) wich doesnt really suit us.
I wouldnt start slaying a whole village/city just because my deitie or the order i follow dislikes them. So apparently i am not lawful.
Same goes for my fellow players, so we all arent lawful.
Derklord wrote: Not if you properly build your character. You are probably right there btu pathfinder has so many factors to consider (you guys have a crazy amount of feats and traits, from wich surely some are useful, others arent and for me as a newcomer they are mainly confusing)
Derklord wrote: Er, what? Do full casters in 5E still have d4 HD or something? No, but in 5e casters are way safer, getting armor onto them is easier, they dotn have to worry about Attacks of Opportunity and they are overall strogner on early levels (some cantrips do more damage or offer more defense then a few 1st-2nd lvl spells in pathfinder)
Derklord wrote: If you have a vision of a character, you can also go from the opposite direction, which is a character-building technique that I highly recommend for new players: Don't start with a class, start with theese questions: 1) What do you want your character be able to do? 2) What mechanically relevant characteristics do you want your character to have and not have? Like, do you want casting, do you want to not have casting, do you want to wear a certain type of armor (or want to wear no armor), etc. Its a good approach, my issue is and i know thats on me: i dont have enough experience in pathfidner to tell what i COULD do its hard to grasp how your character should look like if you dotn know all the options...

Well i am stunned by how much advice i got here, thank you very much :D
I will read into those classes and hopefully fidn a way to make at least one of them work decently (while i am sure your recommendations are great, i will need to find out how to play and build them).
Might be back and bothering you with further questions once i read into them!

Basicly we cant play summoners, use necromancy, use any class with lawful or evil alignment requiered and multiclassing isnt allowed either.
So i am feeling very restricted in makeing a fun and strong character... or maybe i am not expreienced enough
Wow. It is also my opinion that your DM is pretty restrictive.
What do you want your character to do? There are lots of single class builds out there that can be both fun and strong. In dnd 5e (wich is where i started) i usually build allrounders (and sometiems specialists if requested) but i jsut like the idea of beeing able to survive on my own.
Dont get me wrong please, solo carrying the campaign isnt my goal and i know that you need a group to play with.
Tho i would like to not be screwed if my party is split or 1-2 members go down.
I feel like if i go for a melee hitter, then i will just get screwed by mind saves or spells of that sort.
If i go for a caster, pretty much anything can oneshot me.
Pathfinder has super many variables (and to be honest for many feats i dont see when they might ever be useful) so i bleive that it would be possible to build crazy characters with awsome combos and a lot of potential but i lack the experience in this rule system...

Well i come from dnd 5e i usually made alrounders.
I am not sure how well this works in Pathfinder. Of course its a team game and i wont be able to do eveythign on my own but i just highly dislike beeing to reliant on someone.
If i try to build a strong melee hitter for example, i fall of hard lategame and mind saves can really ruin my day in this game.
If i play a caster it feel like i need a babysitter, since i might have aoe and and some strogn sngle target spells but you know the theme "dies from 1d4 cutting damage from your books paper"

So by looking up character Ideas (i have to admit i was lookign to find something strong) i stumpled across this "Scion of Humanity Aasimiar Lunar Oracle" build, wich apparently a lot of people seem to know but i dont fully understand it :(
I did a quick googling but couldn't find the specific build you are referring to. Here are my assumptions.
===
Aasimar has a Favored Class Bonus, which you can choose instead of +1 HP or +1 skill rank whenever you gain a level in Oracle, which improves the effect of a single revelation:
"Add +1/6 to the oracle’s level for the purpose of determining the effects of one revelation."
So at level 12 if you had taken this FCB twelve times it would mean one of your revelations were at an effective Oracle level of 12+2=14. This isn't very impressive.
But! This option was nerfed in 2015. Before that, it gave +1/2 effective Oracle level. So at level 12 you would have an effective Oracle level of 12+6=18. This made it a cornerstone of a lot of powerful builds that are now outdated.
===
The Lunar (as in Lunar Oracle) mystery has access to the Primal Companion Revelation. Combined with the pre-nerf FCB this meant you could have an Animal Companion that scaled 50% faster than a Druid's. So in the above example the companion would have an effective level of 18 while you were level 12.
The question of above-level companions is a separate issue and was also nerfed, btw.
Lunar also gains the Prophetic Armor revelation, allowing you to dump Dexterity with little to no repercussions if you've taken the Noble Scion feat for Cha-to-Initiative. A common tactic.
===
As for how Scion of Humanity comes into play... The Half-Elf was also able to do the FCB trick (as they can choose the Elf FCB which was the same) and already counts as Human for prerequisites. They also have the advantage of qualifying for the... You might be right, the post i found was pretty old (2014) but still looked like fun.
I will copy it here:

There is also the Scion of Humanity Aasimiar Lunar Oracle, which, IMO, can get quite cheesy(Like, almost to 3.5e levels of absurdity). The character gets Charisma to AC, Reflex and initiative. He/she also gets an animal companion that levels up FASTER then that of a druid(aasimiar favored class bonus), and access to the entire cleric/oracle spell list AND the entire wizard/sorcerer spell list via the spell paragon surge. By taking racial heritage (half-elf) they can get their hands on Paragon surge. By getting Eldritch Heritage (Arcane) they can use Paragon Surge to -temporarily- gain improved eldritch heritage (Arcane) which, essentially, lets them get any spells from the wiz/sorc list they want. In addition, they can get any cleric/oracle spell by using paragon surge for expanded arcana. You are already ridiculously powerful as is, but if you -really- want you can even take 2 levels of paladin to get cha to all your saves as well.
This build can also be done with a nature mystery oracle, but Lunar Mystery does it a bit better because it gives you better animal companion choices. With a Nature Oracle, since you are medium size your animal companion choices are limited to picks that are bleh compared to the options Lunar has(You can get the ever-popular big cat with Lunar(a tiger) while nature basically forces you to get a lame horse.) If your DM allows small-size aasimiar(as they are said to exist in some splatbooks) then nature becomes more viable since small nature oracles have better companion choices then medium ones by far.
This, as of now, is probably the most ridiculous character you can make in pathfinder barring broken 3rd party stuff like Eldritch Godling and Dragon Rider. After this, the other most powerful characters would be a high level wizard and high-level cleric, as those two classes are THE most powerful in the game when they get into higher levels, as per the 3.5e tier list.
It is sad, if its no longer viable, then i will have to find something else...
Are there any good and fun single class builds you could recommend?

I wanted to ask if someone could please explain to me how it works and what i need for it.
Also if you have personall experience with it, is this build even fun to play in the fristplace?
Sadly i am not the most experienced Pathfinder player, wich is why i still struggle with some point of this game...
