Is there a Remaster equivalent of the web spell? I can't seem to find one for my cleric of Grandmother Spider.

Dude, minotaurs be totally busted compared to other ancestries. Most overt example of power creep I've seen in PF2e to date.

- Large size
- Darkvision
- Permanent reach with a feat
- Can boost all physical ability scores at level 1
- Powerful natural attack
- Can walk through walls as early as level 9 (plus other amazing feats)

Contrast that to dwarves who got darkvision, a knife, and reduced speed to balance those out.

Centaurs are not far behind. Personally, I'd take away the darkvision from both ancestries, possibly allowing its return with one or more feats. That would go a long ways towards balancing them out I think.

I guess Paizo sees Large size as being a drawback?

Didn't minotaurs have poor eyesight anyways, often relying on sense of smell? And why do centaurs need to see in the dark? Is it because they're stargazers?

Discuss.

This is a brainstorm and discussion thread for amazing combos involving awakened animals. Contribute to it however you like.

I for one can't help but think that someone wanting to play a traditional animal (that is, one that does not appear obviously magical or unnatural) may want to pursue the monk class to empasize unarmed attacks and mobility, or perhaps the barbarian or rogue class, since those classes' combat abilities are not especially hindered by the lack of manufactured weapons.

If you don't want the weirdness of having hands on an animal that traditionally doesn't have opposable thumbs, but also don't want to be crippled, I might recommend the kineticist. Since you won't be wielding weapons, your "hands" will be free for your impulses, and you won't have to worry about feeling gimped in combat. You might even have some mobility or utility options to help you get around your (self-imposed) limitations.

I for one can't wait to play an awakened fiery leopard or smoldering leopard that taps into their innate fiery nature to deliver fire blasts and impulses, or a rhino that earth blasts enemies by gouging up and tossing boulders from the earth with their horn.

Play a champion of evil and take the zombie or ghoul dedication to play a circus animal visitant so tortured in life by their handlers that they returned as a vengeful spirit.

Or maybe play a reverse summoner, in which the humanoid is the eidolon. lol.

Or for something more martial oriented, take the Mind Smith or Soul Forger dedication and play a psyloch-styled anime space cat that crawled out of a wrecked pod among some Numerian wreckage and battles with psychic projections.

Or play as the hypnotic Kaa (from the Jungle Book), or as a spellcasting naga, with an awakened serpent and the Captivator archetype.

So many cool combos and ideas to be born from this! What are some of your own ideas?

The Howl of the Wild teasers have got my brain noodles twitching.

A squad of highly mobile centaur archers being lead by a Commander is just going to be grossly effective.

Between the wild, the war, and the commander and guardian, there's a whole lot of awesome coming our way. 8'D

For those of you saying that "the Champion class fulfills the Guardian's role of tank better," just wait until Player Core 2 drops.

Paizo has been known to reduce the power and capability of existing content in order to increase sales of new content once on a while.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if something like that happened between these two classes.

What would or should happen if one or more PCs attempted to unmask the Waterfall? Both in-game and out?

I am concerned that upon learning what the Decemvirate and their magical masks are to the Society, and meeting the Waterfall for the first time, one or more of my players will make the attempt to unmask her during their introductions.

My players, though experienced roleplayers, are total newbs to organized Pathfinder Society play. They are accustomed to complete player autonomy, not highly structured adventures in which they must do the bidding of strangers in masks. I suspect they're going to chafe a bit upon meeting the Waterfall for the first time.

I'm thinking maybe a high level daze effect that knocks the character straight out, or some other narrative black out in which the character awakens with no memory of her identity and is heavily chastised ("you're lucky you're not dead or exiled!"). In either case, I'm thinking a point of infamy would be in order for openly assaulting a leader of the Society. I will be providing stern warnings beforehand and making clear the gravity and possible consequences of such a disrespectful action.

What do you think would or should happen if a player attempts this? If it helps, the PCs are all level 1 or 2 still.

Does anyone else feel this feat is far and away too situational to warrant a feat, much less a 4th-level class feat?

In all my years of roleplaying 2e, I can't recall a single instance of needing to Avert Gaze.

This should be a more general ability given freely to all, such as rewriting Avert Gaze to allow for this when using Raise Shield. Seems to me like a natural consequence of Raise Shield.

I can't even begin to imagine how the Foundry programmers are going to implement the automation for all of these new game mechanics.

Best of luck, guys.

If a Commander is granting extra actions to an ally who is supposed to be participating in a one on one duel or arena combat without support (such as magic), is that cheating? Or is it perceived in-world as just another person shouting support/coaching advice from the sidelines?

Seems like every gladiator would benefit greatly from having such a coach in their corner, without obviously breaking any participation rules.

Item bonus to AC? Against a fireball? What?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Am I to understand that Reaction Time does not grant a bonus reaction each round, but rather only one time, and only for the first round, after rolling initiative? (In essence once per combat.)

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Intercept Strike is triggered by an ally taking physical damage.

Which step of the attack/damage oder of operations does that fall under? Dp you wait until damage amount is known and being applied? Or does the reaction come earlier, when amounts aren't known, but the type might be?

When you take the damage in their stead, you gain resistance to all damage. Does this mean energy damage too, despite the trigger limitation? For example, an ally is attacked by a flaming longsword. Since it's dealing physical damage, it qualifies to trigger your reaction (or at least I hope it does). Once it is diverted, you apply your resistance once to the physical damage and again to the fire damage. Is that right?

I can't seem to find any Pathfinder Society Boons in the Foundry VTT beyond what appears to be Season 1.

Where can I find the rest of the boons? My fellow players and I have several boons from other seasons (And an adventure path) that we are seemingly unable to drag and drop onto our character sheets' boon section. It doesn't effect us much in our own little circle, but if my friends want to export their characters into a different Foundry game under a different GM, then they're not going to be able to easily show what boons they have.

Is it possible for a GM to use a Replay to get the Chronicle Sheet and other benefits for a sanctioned Adventure Path volume? If so, how do I do that?

Also, can I report my having hosted an adventure path module to any benefit if the players abandoned it prior to completing it? I had one group that played halfway, but then then disbanded due to extenuating circumstances.

Tonight I will be introducing 6 new players to Pathfinder Society and Foundry! :D

Four of them are long time friends and veteran Pathfinder roleplayers, but are new to Organized Society rules and Foundry. Two of them are new acquaintances and are new to Pathfinder (and roleplaying in general).

I've got a Discord server set up. I've got Foundry set up. I've provided links to rules resources and tutorial videos (listed below) 24 hours in advance of what is likely going to be our "Session 0."

I'm a mite nervous that I might have overlooked something or might do something to turn them off of it all. So I'm here now, hoping upon hope that the hive mind has some good advice for me. Things to look for when setting up for the first time, ways to keep remote players from getting distracted and to stay focused during play, useful Foundry modules, life lessons you've learned for yourself along the way, that sort of thing.

I myself am a 30 year veteran of roleplaying and longtime Pathfinder enthusiast, am a 1 star Society GM, and have been using Foundry fairly regularly (mostly as a player) for over 3 years. It amazes me that I still get nervous about this.

As I prepare for my third PFS session with my goblin inventor/ mech pilot where decisionsstart to get licked in, I find myself wondering if it can be further optimized for both fun and effectiveness. I've not played inventor before this and so am hoping to get some good feedback and build advice, particularly as it relates to action economy as I feel that is currently a weakness.

Here's my character sheet so far.

And here's the build plan I had in mind for the character.

Any help or advice you can provide would be most appreciated.

Can someone help walk me through the Craft rules as they are used in Organized Play; particularly as it relates to variant abilities like the Inventor feat?

More specifically, I wanted to "invent" the formula for a kusarigama. Unfortunately, I failed my check and only made 1cp worth of progress. Is there anything stopping me from trying again with a new roll in the same downtime block?

If not, do I need to waste two days upfront as with Crafting? Inventor makes no mention of needing to, but I wanted to make sure before proceeding in the wrong way.

What kinds of artisan's toolkits are there?

Blacksmith and carpentry (not sure why they say "wood working") are mentioned in the item's text; are any others mentioned in publication anywhere?

What kinds do you think are the most common? Asking for an inventor who wants to make most everything.

Closest thing I could find were the categories from the Specialty Crafting skill feat:

Alchemy - Alchemical items such as elixirs
Artistry - Fine art, including jewelry
Blacksmithing - Durable metal goods, including metal armor
Bookmaking - Books and paper
Glassmaking - Glass, including glassware and windows
Leatherworking - Leather goods, including leather armor
Pottery - Ceramic goods
Shipbuilding - Ships and boats
Stonemasonry - Stone goods and structures
Tailoring - Clothing
Weaving - Textiles, baskets, and rugs
Woodworking - Wooden goods and structures

I wanted to get access to the chakram for my character, and so purchased the Frequent Shopper (The Unscathed Blade) boon.

How can a

hide something that is too big to be stowed, and thus must essentially always be wielded, such as a longspear?

What about a goblin-made junkyard armor mech suit that, for all intents and purposes, makes you large size whilst wearing it?

Our 17th-level characters finally defeated the campaign's big bad this morning!

...with a loaf if bread. X'D

In previous encounters, the SOB would discorporate into slimy goo and slip away through a drain or something similar, only to come back in a later encounter, more powerful than before.

This time we surrounded him, blocking easy access to potential escape routes, and delayed our initiative so that we'd all get to go together as a group before the BBEG took their turn. Then we hit him hard, forcing the transformation. Lacking anything better, we wiped him up with an absorbent loaf of bread before he could slip past us again. He's now a really angry animate loafer stuck in a jar! XD

We've been trying to get this guy since level 10. Man! What a way to end a rivalry!

Big thanks to the GM and all the wonderful players who made it happen. I'll never forget it!

What is the Lingering Composition Performance DC when used by a 1st-level bard in a mixed level party of 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-level PCs to extend Courageous Anthem?

This came up in a PFS scenario today when the bard player brought up the fact that it's based on the composition's target's level, not his own as the GM previously believed. This is further complicated by the fact that the composition in question, Courageous Anthem, is an emanation area effect, and therefore has no targets.

Can you even use Lingering Composition with Courageous Anthem as written?

One of the players thought that the DC might be based on the target of Lingering Composition (the bard), but the bard player pointed out that--despite the name--Lingering Composition doesn’t have the Composition trait and is therefore not a Composition at all.

We're all thoroughly confused and we're hoping the Paizo hive mind might offer some insights.

I am playing a goblin with Junk Tinker in PFS and it is nearly time for me to begin upgrading my gear with fundamental runes.

However, all of my gear is Shoddy. Since runes require a certain quality of materials to be applied, I was wondering if it was even possible to apply runes to Shoddy weapons and armor. Do non-special material weapons and armor require a base quality of "normal," rather than Shoddy?

When a scenario grants you a boon that is intended for another character, like PFS (2ed) Scenario #5-08: The Mayor’s Luck which grants an Uncommon Heritage, is it intended that you purchase it on the site under the character that won it, or the character it is to be applied to?

The site won't let me purchase it without selecting a character, and I don't want to get it wrong. I don't have a character with an Uncommon heritage in mind at this time, but if I don't purchase it, it's going to get lost in the paperwork shuffle and umpteen months from now when I might want to make such a character I'm never going to remember that I even had it.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

What exactly is the point of the Standard method? I don't honestly believe it is ever used in practice after the initial character introduction.

Players are predisposed toward spending gold only on things they see as worthwhile. This generally results in characters having a few high level items and several low level items (or a lot of savings intended for the next big item or item upgrade).

So, even if you start with the Standard method, players naturally gravitate towards Lump Sum, so why bother with anything else in the first place?

Is it possible to renew a long duration spell each day using a wand?

The rules for long duration spells refer to spell slots, making no mention of alternative forms of spellcasting, such as wands. Is there anything indicating that this is possible?

If it is possible, would it matter if I alternated between wands, slots, and other sources of spells from day to day?

If it is not explicitly stated in the rules as being possible, do you think there should be a rule to allow the extension of long duration spells via wands and/or other alternative means? Would you permit it in games that you run?

In particular, I'm wondering about a wand of disguise magic, which would be used to mask a modify memory spell cast upon an individual that I likely would not have access to after the initial casting.

My witch, Hama, used invisibility to infiltrate a guarded location. Unfortunately, before she could complete her goals, one of the two guards left their post to use the lavoratory and ended up discovering tell tail signs of an intruder. Before he could warn his companion that something was amiss, Hama brained him, then smeared some if his blood on a nearby ledge and planted a pouch of gold on his person.

As leaving evidence of tampering and foul play would interfere with her plans, Hama discretely cast rewrite memory on the remaining guard, implanting a false memory of a discovery of corruption, a fight with his companion, a shove, and a fall, all ending in a terrible tragedy.

Can this spell really make a person believe that they just might be a killer?
