Is the lack of activity in this thread due to lack of interest, or is there just nothing you feel necessary to say? Keep in mind any setting information, and stuff of that sort is subject to change if I'm unable to get enough players otherwise.
With PbP you can make the rules all 1's and 0's and you will still have too many players!
I'm definitely interested in your campaign, as are all the people above I'm sure. I think most are just anxious due to the book release.
I don't see the point in a finessable twohander either. If you're finessing, your Strength is most likely not going to care about being multiplied by 1.5, especially if you could carry a shield instead. I guess it could make some marginal sense on an elven fighter with Str 14 and Dex 18.
Ha! I'm playing an elven fighter/rogue at the moment with 14 Str and 18 Dex. This might be up my alley!
Can somebody tell me if conjurer school wizards still get the +2 natural armor bonus or did it change?
No they have 3 powers now. They add half their levels in additional rounds a summoning creature spell will last. They have a acid dart which is a touch attack at 30ft range doing 1d6 + 1 per 2 levels and finally at 8th level they can >teleport< up to 30ft per level per day. They can bring others with them but must pay the range cost for each person.
fixed.
Note... the 8th level power does not provoke AoOs and lacks the "can't do anything until your next turn" limits DDoor has so it's quite a bit better than the spell.
One last thing (I promise!). is it 1/2 BAB progression or 3/4 for AT?
It's still 1/2 but I think the other changes to the class are good enough that it's Ok. Ranged LD is not limited per day.... still/ silent spell 3 times/ day at 5th level... other nice stuff.
Yea it looks good I like it. The class does mainly use ranged touch so the 1/2 progression isn't so bad.
So the arcane archer requirements are these still?
Race: Elf or half-elf.
Base Attack Bonus: +6.
Feats: Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Weapon Focus(longbow or shortbow).
Spells: Ability to cast 1st-level arcane spells.
Instead of having a random draw, how about we make applications. Included should be character name/race/class/bio and reasons why you want to play Council of Thieves.
Okay, cool, thanks folks. I'll give a full look later.
Well, looks like we have some groundswell towards using PF Beta, and to be honest I'm tempted myself. So, Opdigan, I don't think that affects you massively except for 0th level spells, and you can choose the domain ability version of nature bond instead of an animal companion if you like. Some skills may need to be re-jigged.
I think most of the racial bonuses are easy enough to convert to PF skills, but PF races have a net +2 to ability scores so I think the following should be applied:
Edraldi +2 Con (changing the bonus of Earth Edraldi to +2 Dex)
Tlaxu +2 Str
Other races if they come up.
If its possible I would like to go back to my first choice of wizard then. I really want to try out the PF wizard. My character will stay basically the same, except that he will become a steel edraldi wizard.
Appearance: Kordev is a short man when compared to most races, but when compared to the Edraldi he is fairly tall and lean. His skin is a very dark shade of brown, as is his hair which is interwoven and tied back. The only contrast in his appearance comes from his violet eyes, which look almost identical to amethysts. Kordev isn't muscular by any stretch of imagination, but an inner strength is visible in his resolute gaze and stance. He can normally be found wearing a dark brown robe with black sandals.
Personality: None are more easily distracted than this druid. Kordev easily slips away into daydreams when busy with mundane tasks, and can normally by found mumbling about some exotic gem he is trying to find. When prompted to speak though, he becomes very withdrawn. Most conversations with him turn out to be very cryptic, since he over thinks his answers and alludes as little as possible to his train of thought.
Background: Kordev was out one night on the fringe of his territory when he heard voices. He silently approached and found a group of men on the beach. They were loading crates off a boat and onto a cart. There were at least a dozen men. Kordev watched as one man twisted his ankle on the beach and dropped one side of a crate. The box smashed open and thousands of gems poured out onto the sand. The druid was captivated when he saw a monstrous diamond roll out. It must have been at least as big as the sling-bullets on his belt. His eyes locked onto the rock and his feet started to move forward. He had to touch that diamond.
Needless to say he never got close to the stone. After a couple of steps he was hit on the head and woke up a day or so later, in a crate. Now he finds himself slaving away in a mine. The cruelest torture imaginable for someone like Kordev. Even if he finds a beautiful stone, he can only keep it for a second. They know he likes gems, and they are watching him more so for it.
Sorry for double post. Can't edit previous post for some reason. Clicking on the name takes you to the character sheet. Let me know if its ok.
It's really hard to see because of the blur, but im pretty sure those are +1's to caster level. Since normally you have the spells per day column to the right of the special column.
Furthermore we have to, I guess, assume there is only one sun and that it is of a certain brightness and moves accross the east-west line.
Or does the east-west line automatically "snap-to" the sun's path?
So much maintenance for a one level dip lol!
Also, it can be argued that it would be impossible or harder to use this skill in a dimly lit area. Think about it. It requires a shadow, not darkness. So if taken literally it would be easier to hide in a very bright day, because there would be more shadows. And they would be very contrasting.
Whereas in a very dimly lit environment, who is to say that ANY shadows are cast. The darker it gets the harder it is to tell if there are shadows.
Lets say there are two characters with darkvision standing face to face in the dark. No shadows, just darkness. Does this mean I can't hide in plain sight?
Round 1: Full attack (applying sneak attack), 5' step, make Stealth check.
Round 2: Full attack (applying sneak attack), 5' step, make Stealth check.
Of course, that makes Hide in Plain Sight pretty powerful.
Yea that sounds about right.
Yes, that's why most classes get it only later on. Thing is by the time you get the shadowdancer level there is already improved invis. And it is going to cost me +1BAB which means I will end with +15 and 3 attacks instead of +16 with four.
Still undecided on it...
On a side note: what the hell is with the requirement of having some form of shadow near me, except for me.
Does this mean the weapon I am wielding's shadow counts?
can I just drop a rock with like a tiny shadow?
Does my enemie's shadow count?
Stealth: When moving at a speed greater than one-half but less than your normal speed, you take a –5 penalty. It’s impossible to use Stealth while attacking, running, or charging. ...If you’ve already successfully used Stealth at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack, then immediately use Stealth again. You take a –20 penalty on your Stealth check to maintain your obscured location.
A shadowdancer can hide even while observed and even with nothing to hide in as long as there is some nearby shadow, but the penalties should still apply.
A -25 penalty to the Stealth check for springing 15 ft. into combat and then 15 ft. back into the shadows is stout, but doable. A 7th-level goblin rogue/wizard/shadowdancer with a cat familiar and cloak of elvenkind could easily have a +27 Stealth check or higher.
I'd like to get an official word on this.
So it's almost better to take a full round action to shoot like 4 arrows.
2 normal attacks and 2 more from rapid and manyshot. Then the next round you move and stealth with no penalty.
No wait. this isn't making sense. Am I confused or can i do this while stealthed:
Stealth is part of a move action. So if you have spring attack you could potentially spring attack while stealthy then restealth as you withdraw. I don't see how you could do it without spring attack. This could also work in obscuring mist or fog cloud also with a normal rogue.
Or use Shot on the Run. Start turn in cover, stealth, move out of cover, shoot, end turn in cover. Rinse and repeat.
Yea thats what I was thinking because I'm an archer. Only thing is what can you consistantly use as cover? a 20x20 fog or mist?
Is it worth getting 1 lvl shadowdancer just to be able to hide without cover? or is it better to try and make magic or other cover and use shot on the run?
Ploppy wrote:
Is hide in plain sight gained from the shadowdancer still a supernatural ability (and therefore requires a standard action to activate)? This fact was often overlooked in 3.5.
Supernatural Abilities: Using a supernatural ability
is usually a standard action (unless defined otherwise
by the ability’s description).
Hide in Plain Sight (Su): A shadowdancer can use the Stealth
skill even while being observed
