GM: Olly sits on the bed. "Well, getting rid of the Hellknights certainly seems worth doing. And I'd imagine they'd want that pen back something fierce. What are you planning to do to get rid of them?"
At Noro's voice, Olly goes to the door and takes the ales. "Thank you! I think we're all set now. But if we need more we'll let you know." She tries to hold the door just open enough that Noro can get a glimpse of Tierce. Bluff check for message: "Thanks for watching out for me. I think I'm safe, but if I don't show up downstairs soon send help." 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 GM: As Olly closes the door again, she offers Tierce one of the ales. "Don't worry about her. After what I've seen the past couple of days, I don't think she's going to be saying anything to any Hellknights." Edit to add: I get #600!

GM and Noro: Olly pauses for a moment. "I do," she says. "We can talk there." As she stands up, she beckons Noro over and says, "If you could bring a couple of ales to my room in a little while, I'd appreciate it!" She smiles, then her face briefly becomes more serious. Bluff check to convey the secret message to Noro: "If I'm not back in a few minutes, send someone to look for me." 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Just good enough to get the message across. Anyone watching sees Olly get up, speak briefly to Noro, then leave upstairs with the robed man.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 so close... GM: Olly considers Tierce's words. He certainly seems to know exactly what Flit left behind. And getting that thing out of here before the Hellknights find it would probably be a good idea. She continues speaking quietly (though she doesn't especially try to hide her words from Noro, she does from anyone else walking by). "And if I do give it to you, what will happen to it? It seems like there are plenty of people who would want it." Sense Motive listening to his answer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Noro's question makes Olly smile, for the first time in hours. "I don't know that robes are your thing, but the color's a good one for you! Have you decided to join the church, then?" When the robed man gestures to her, Olly pauses only briefly, and says to Noro, "Keep an eye on me, would you? That man wants to talk to me, I think." Maybe this one at least won't be a goblin! She hops down off her seat and strolls over to the man, calling on every ounce of her performing skill to seem at ease despite the events of the day. "Good evening, sir! As Noro comes in, Olly blinks a bit at her outfit, but tries to catch her eye. If Noro comes over, she'll say, quietly, "The mother thanked you for your help. Were you able to take care of everything there?"

Olly grimaces as Zella mentions closets. "I know! I'm going to have to triple-check mine tonight. I don't want any more surprises like that." She winces, and touches her face. "I suppose I should find someone to take a look at this. A scar would add authenticity to some of my stories, but I'm not sure I need that much authenticity." As Darius joins them, Olly asks, "Are you all right? That goblin took a pretty good swing at you." At the mention of the Hellknight, Olly groans a bit. "I forgot about him. I hope we can convince him to say something useful. At least the goblin didn't hit you! Maybe I better watch from a bit of a distance, I don't want him asking any unfortunate questions." She pauses, and then leans in close and speaks very quietly. "Whatever we do, we mustn't give them any reason to decide they need to search my room."

Olly comes over to the bar, her normally cheerful face downcast, the wound from the goblin adding an oddly fierce cast to the look. "I agree. I don't ever want to see anything like that again. What wretched creatures!" She takes a big swallow from the drink, flinching slightly as the wound twinges.

Olly will head back to the Rusty Dragon to talk to the family. On her way out, she will stop and quietly say to Noro, "Thank you for doing that. I know his family will appreciate it." She will also be sure to wipe off any remaining blood before she talks to the family. Once at the inn, she will find the woman. "Ma'am, may I speak to you in private?" She will try to find someone to stay with Artie as she draws the woman aside. "We found a goblin hiding under your house," she says, then quickly adds, "Don't worry, it's gone now and won't be coming back. I think it got trapped there, and it must have gone mad from hunger, which is why it attacked." She takes a deep breath, and continues, as gently as she can, "I'm afraid we found your husband, too. By the time we got there, he had fallen to the goblin. He was beyond any help we could give. I'm so sorry." She hesitantly reaches out and puts her little hand on the woman's shoulder. "He died bravely, that much I could tell. One of my friends is tending to his body, and others have gone to fetch Father Zantus. What else can I do to help?"

To Zella, she says, "It hurts, and I'll want a healer to look at it eventually, but let's make sure what's down there first." Olly looks down at the dead goblin, wiping blood off her face and scowling (a very odd look on her generally attractive face). "Kabroi hori! This is why I don't like goblins!" She looks over at the hole. "I suppose we'd better see if there are any more hiding down there - and what they've done, if they've dug out some kind of tunnels or something." Gnomish: "You bastard!" At Noro's request, Olly's face softens from scowl to sadness. "Oh, that poor woman and her family. You're right, we'd better tell them. Unless the goblins have dug something out underneath, there's no way out from under there except the hole. What are they up to?!" She steps back out of the way of Noro's pulling. Description: Olly is a gnome with brown skin and blue hair piled up in a crazy array of braids and beads. Right now she's wearing bright pink and yellow performing clothes, and has a drum slung over her shoulder. As the woman describes the situation, Olly thinks, What is it with goblins in closets! But if they've got holes into people's houses, that's really not good. "Ma'am, did your husband actually go into the hole after the goblin? Or is he waiting for help to come?" Olly will also dash upstairs for weapons before we go anywhere.

One more post before I go. :) Zella and GM: Olly frowns as she watches Cyrdak storm off. "Well, so much for catching his attention during all this! That would have been nice. But yes, let's find a spot that's in their traffic path but not so close that we're obviously trying to get something from them." Whoops, ninjaed. Revising... Olly wishes the hunters good luck, then follows Zella upstairs. "Nothing happened," she says. "He said some very nice things, left some potentially dangerous things with me, and left for Magnimar." She pauses. "Okay, he kissed me. Which was weird! Then he climbed out the window." Olly wrinkles her nose as she talks, clearly not comfortable talking about that part of things. "I hid the things in my mattress. Do you think that's safe enough? Or is there someplace else we could put them?"

As Darius mentions Flit, Olly leans forward and speaks very quietly, so only the party members could hear. "They didn't catch him. At least not as of last night. He was in my closet when I went up to bed!" She frowns. "He said some nice things," and she blushes slightly, "then left, but he left some things behind. Let's just say he's got more reasons than a goblin raid to be worried about Hellknights finding him. Or the things he left behind." She looks around briefly before adding, "Do any of you know what a Rune Well is? Apparently he was investigating Hellknights who were looking for one, or something about rune magic, around here somewhere. Something to keep in mind as we listen to them, anyway."

GM: Are there any details about the Hellknight activity? Knowledge checks related to the pen, and the relationship between Asmodeus and House Thule:
Olly's eyes grow very wide as the pen and paper fall out of the book. No wonder he wanted to leave this somewhere. Oh dear. She hastily puts the pen and paper back into the back of the journal. Rather than just sticking the book under the mattress, she uses her sword to slit open one of the seams and stuffs the book (with pen inside) inside.
Need to resolve something before I respond to the breakfast conversation. :)

GM: Olly stares out the window after Flit, caught completely off guard. Wha...did... did that just happen?! Did a goblin just kiss me?! After a few moments stunned, she shakes her head and closes the window. Well, at least he's gone. I'm not sure I could take much more of this! She looks down at the journal and starts flipping through it, reading pages and looking at the drawings, trying to get some sense for what this very odd goblin is all about. She doesn't get much sleep that night. In the morning, she hides the journal under her mattress before leaving. Olly comes down to breakfast a little late, dressed in her performance clothes and with her crossbow and sword in her pack. Though she's done up the wild blue braids with beads and ribbons as usual for a performance, there are hints of bags under her eyes and she looks a little less put-together than usual. She comes in just in time to hear Darius and Zella talking about hunting. "I'm not really much of a hunter," she says. "Zella, maybe you and I should try our performance strategy to see what we can find out from the Hellknights?"

Olly listens as Darius plays. "You're not so bad yourself, there!" She turns to Zella. "So where would be the best place to catch the attention of the Hellknights? I wonder if Cyrdak is still going to have the theater open. If they're enforcing a curfew, he can't do shows at night, but maybe he'll do a matinee. And I bet the Hellknights will keep a close eye on it. Maybe we can perform somewhere near there? And that way we still have a chance to catch Cyrdak's eye in all this. And it would be public, like the Sheriff wanted."

Olly blushes - a very odd color combination with her blue hair - as Darius and Zella talk about Flit. "I have to say, you expect to get attention occasionally as a bard, but getting that kind of attention from a goblin was a new one. And not especially welcome." She pauses. "Though I will say, he sure doesn't seem like your ordinary goblin. I've never heard of a goblin bard before. Or one who could draw." As Zella responds to Shalelu's comment about the Hellknights, Olly nods slowly. "There's got to be some way to find out. Get one of them drunk? Do Hellknights drink?" She grins. "Any group like that has to have a weak link somewhere, someone who's upset or didn't get enough sleep or is mad at the commander." She suddenly remembers. "Oh -- did the Sheriff tell you about the crypt and the disappearing body, Shalelu? Speaking of goblins doing unexpected things!"
