You're free to come up with your own ideas, but if you need inspiration I'm happy to help. :) I grabbed a mentor, Jimes Iggins, and worked it into my background. It actually fit nicely with what I had already written since I was wanting to have a job at the Tavern. I would still like something that connected me to joining the group that was chosen to go to the Crypt. Not sure what it may be. ![]()
![]() Okay, I have updated to match your requirements. The only thing I haven't done is complete my gear purchases. I do have a question.

Answer: Obard has been traveling for years and has found he is longing for the family he grew up with in Varisia. Though they were gypsies, they were still a family. Perhaps it is the companionship that family gives, or maybe the stability of knowing that there is someone that has your back when you need it. Whatever the reason may be, it eats at him more and more as time passes. After every "incident" in each new settlement that he visits, during the long days alone on the road, he begins to long for this void to be filled.
Now, once again, he finds himself caught in the same loop. He needs to leave before everyone in this new town wants to hang him from the nearest bush. Who would have known that the citizens of Restov were so grumpy? One night, while contemplating what to do next, Obard overhears several adventurers talking about a new charter being offered by the Swordlords. Here is his chance to get out of town. Perhaps these adventurers could use someone with his skills? Stealth 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24; Sleight-of-Hand on the wizard 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13; Bluff 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Whether or not Obard sticks it out, is entirely up to the rest of the party. If he feels needed and the group becomes his new family, he will stay to the end. If he ends up feeling like an outcast, he will move on and find another place to call home. Not that he has started off on the right foot. ![]()

Response: Always quick to react headless of the danger, Obard rushes forward before anyone else.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
He dives, ducks, and tumbles his way around the beast trying to avoid the gnashing teeth so that he may provide a flank for the fighter. Unable to move quickly enough, Obard is bitten by the beast. Once in position though, Obard readies to strike as soon as the fighter moves up so that he may be able to catch it unbalanced trying to defend its self against two combatants. Attack w/dagger w/flank 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22; Damage w/sneak 1d3 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (4) + 1 = 7 As the fighter rushes the beast, he gives a mighty swing of his sword, throwing his momentum behind the blade digging deep into the beasts hide. Obard uses the moment of distraction from the fighter to stab the beast in its side, just above the hip bone, causing the creature to falter. The wound will hamper the beast, slowing it down if it chooses to run. ![]()

Background: Obard was born on the road in Varisia, of that he has learned. But was soon alone in the world, when bandits destroyed the caravan with which his family was traveling. Luckily for him, some gypsies were traveling through the area and found him. Growing up was difficult, but his "family" was always there for him. Desiring to learn more of his origin and experience more life, Obard set out to venture throughout the world. Not everyone was happy that Obard set out, especially shop owners and merchants. Personality: With a constant gaze to the horizon, Obard is always looking for new adventures and experiences. Curious and Inquisitive would be the first thing that comes to mind when you initially meet him. Obard has been known to talk his way out of tight situations, and sometimes he just disappears altogether. With most just glad he is nowhere to be seen or heard. Praying that they don't have to put up with him and that he has moved on to bother someone else. |
