For Iron Gods you’ll be wanting adamantine weapon blanch for your arrows.


I don’t think I’ve ever seen a situation where someone was shooting into melee at a range of 800 feet. Not saying it’s impossible, but ranges usually are way shorter. Often close enough where point blank shot is useable.


My switch-hitting fighter got a lot of use out of adamantine weapon blanch while playing the Iron Gods AP.

Not out of reach, just not worth the price you pay. I posted using this alias because she is a fighter (mostly) with a 12, not 13, but a 12 intelligence. As a fighter, starved for skill points, that bonus skill point is nice. The 13 wouldn’t help with that. Furthermore, spending the buy point on intelligence would have hurt badly in other areas. What can you afford to give up? Not strength. Not dexterity. Not constitution. Not wisdom. So that leaves charisma. It’s a personal thing, but I choose not to dump that one either. It’s nice to be able to have a speaking role in the game. You know, a reasonable shot at an “aid other” diplomacy roll.

On a funny side note, I’ve had my “aid other” diplomat end up being the party “face” due to the “face” player dropping out of the game. More than once.

"I was sure this core room would be a lift." Nyssa grumbles. The suli flourishes with her sword, then heads for the base of the stairs. She settles into a high crouch and tries to move with quietness.

At the bottom of of the staircase she pauses to take stock.

The wildly swinging door slams into Nyssa, painfully, but it also knocks her out of the way of the flames.

"No one is stopping Tessara from checking for traps."

If the flames subside, Nyssa will investigate the small room full of pipes, to see what might be lying about.

Nyssa shrugs. There had been talk of trapfinding skill and such. But that was all it was, just talk.
The suli seizes the hand-wheel and spins it to open the door.

Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 If needed.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 I was forgetting to factor in Valt's heroism spell earlier, that would make it +8. It's probably worn off by now though. Maybe not, it lasts 70 minutes (I think).

Once it seems like everyone is done looking at the books and whatnot, Nyssa retrieves her spike, then heads back to the entrance passage, and the large door at the tower's core.

She pauses to examine the portal, looking for signs of danger as well as looking for a mechanism to open it.

Intrigued, Nyssa goes over to the door and opens it the rest of the way. Then the suli pauses to look around, before proceeding over to the table and book.

Nyssa exits the room, though she entertains the idea of smiting the stove.

"More stairs, inviting us upwards." Nyssa heads back to the room with the schematics, then around the central core area to the next unexplored chamber.

I believe the room with the schematics is labeled F4 on the map. Moved Nyssa's token to the door I want to open next. Of course if the rest of the party wants to go elsewhere, I'll go along with it.

Nyssa buckles her armor back on. "Well, I've learned my lesson. From now on, it's cut first, parley later."
Nyssa keeps her sword sheathed and bow ready, as they move through the wilderness to the tower. At the gate to the tower, she puts the bow away and draws her sword. She leaves her shield in it's quickdraw sling, in case she needs a hand free.
"Let's see what those last clankers were guarding, shall we?"

"You should."Nyssa agrees with Alexis. Then she notes Kharamell settling in. "We should keep a watch rotation through the night."

Nyssa begins collecting dry tinder to bring the fire back to life.

Once the fire is burning again the suli rummages through her pack, finishing with a frown.
"I thought I had more of the adamantine blanch. I guess not." Nyssa picks five of her special, marked arrows out of her quiver. She notes that only two remain.
"These work well on the metal men and creatures." Nyssa offers the five arrows to Tesara. "We'll want to get more of the adamantium blanch, next time we can..."

Orgar's voice wakes Nyssa from unconsciousness. Even as she listens her instinct guides her hand to the hilt of her sword. Using the tip of the blade against the floor for support, Nyssa rises to her feet.

"Orgar, eh? I'm Nyssa. We're snooping around this tower, trying to meet someone who styles himself The Smoke Wizard. These metal men don't seem to like us very much...
Nyssa looks around, trying to figure out what she missed, while unconscious. 'The scimatar, eh? I prefer a straight blade myself."

Nyssa steps into the hall. "Seems like Xoud's not home. We might as well snoop around, since the front door's open, and all."
Nyssa moves to the nearest door, checks it for danger, then sheathing her sword she tries to turn the hand-wheel and open the door.
