Good timing getting this done before the Gameday special! Thanks everyone, and special thanks to Our Great Lady for running and inviting me to get started in PF2. While this was running, I started and leveled a PF2 character to 2nd, made a female half-elf wit swashbuckler, and even played her once at 2nd already.
I'm okay with the system, though there's obviously still a lot I need to learn to keep up. I'm not full-thrust gung-ho on it, so for now I'll play 2e when that's what's available.
And I don't think I ever posted this stuff:

Jirelle heads down to the docks, and her expertise is readily apparent to the first-mates looking for a bosun. It isn't long before she's headed back out to sea. Who knows when, or even if, she'll set foot back in Absalom again....

Jirelle smiles at Jacinth as Bubba hands her a club to help her walk. "That'll help, but you might want a sip o' this too," she says while proffering her flask with Cap'n Benary's good grog from the social the other day.
Dang, how long ago was that? Seems like weeks.

"Ha! Maybe don't try to be tricky and just focus on fightin', you mean little bugger!" Jirelle taunts the zombie-vampire-demon-snake.
She gives Bubba a wink as he gets into position, and then fakes left as if trying to move.

As the crowd panics and bolts, Jirelle draws her rapier and also bolts up toward the demon-snake-devils. She swings around the fountain and spins past Blue to get behind it.

As the drunkard holds his arms out in a ring, Jirelle slinks up to him and ducks under his arms. Encircled and face to face, she leans in even closer to the (Ugh, smelly,) man.
"Mmmm, I do like a man knows how to take control. Let's get outta here, hon. I've got some good Sargavan rum in my room. And more...." she coos.

She leads him away from the dias, and then just at the edge of the crowd, she quickly twists and doubles back to lose her new friend. She glances back to see him standing alone and confused, searching the unknown faces of the crowd and no doubt dreaming of spiced rum and "more."

Jirelle catches up to the group, two books in her bag. One is indeed some light reading, a Pathfinder Chronicle with several reports from the Shackles. She's curious to see how accurate the nautical descriptions are, but also just looking forward to reading some good adventures.
The other book is to help her sleep. She's found it hard to sleep on land without the rocking of a ship beneath her, so she picked up a reference work called Maritime Law of Salvage Operations in the Inner Sea. She's certain it's dry tone will put her out.
Though, I bet if I had Pawero read it to me in that monotone voice of his, I'd be out within the first sentence.
Feeling pretty confident after showing off her (admittedly very limited) legal acumen regarding Slippy, she joins Ezren by the barrister.
"But, what exactly is her sentence? If it was just 'be turned to stone,' then she's completed her sentence and can be released at any time. Even you, good sir, with your impressive legal knowledge, would have to agree with that."

Jirelle pokes her head into the first book shop the group passes. "Go on, I'll catch up," she calls to anyone looking back for her.
She takes in the scent of the shop and lets it linger in her nose. As much as she loves books, they were few and far between on a ship. Maybe it's as simple as that, that their rarity in that life makes them so valuable and treasured. Or maybe it's from her time growing up ashore when her mom would read to her.
Heh, now I've got this image in my head of little Swayaah sitting in Salera's lap being read to. Hehehe...
She finally rouses herself from her musings on family book-time and the damage that sea water does to bindings to approach the clerk.
"So, I could really use something fun but interesting. Like a mystery novel, or an adventure pulp," she opens with. As the clerk shows her some light fiction (and some Pathfinder Chronicles, cause those must be fiction, too, he notes), she also plies him for the latest gossip and info.

Jirelle looks over the bills of lading and manifests to figure out who Slippy was supposed to be delivered to.
"I don't think we're smuggling him in if we just lead him to the Grand Lodge. Heck, the Scrolls might even be able to communicate with him. Seems to me he's either salvage or a maritime rescue, dependin' on how you classify a free golem."

"What? Salvagin' and rescue rules are pretty darn important things to know at sea," she says a little defensively to the looks she receives for using such uncharacteristically big words.

Are those tentacle-fingers on its hand? Wow. Just... wow.
Jirelle breaks out of her fascination with the golem's flexy digits when Swayaah offers food. "Oh, yeah, here, I've got some, too," she says as she digs out some hard-tack biscuits and salted rations that her last crew gave her. She hands them to Swayaah as it seems the creature maybe likes the tiefling the best. Maybe. It's hard to tell though.

Jirelle stands still on the slick deck, lost in thought at the damage this ship has endured. She heaves a sad sigh as she joins the others heading below.
"No, Bubba, she's beyond repair, I think," she replies wistfully. "They call this the Flotsam Graveyard for a reason. She's a little like those vampires we fought last night, risen from the grave."
She steps up into the line behind the beefy halfling, rapier in one hand and main-gauche in the other, ready to face a gull-punching monstrosity if they find it.

Jirelle was fairly quiet on the ride out aboard the Jolly Skull. She was simply enjoying the peace of being back on the water, just letting the chit chat of her teammates wash over her like the bow's spray.
She clambers aboard the surfaced wreck and her eyes get a little misty as she surveys the damage that the sea has wrought. She follows the others to the Captain's quarters, then forward.
"Fo'c'sle," she corrects Paweros' pronunciation. "Yes, technically, the "forecastle," but say it like that and you'll be laughed off the ship," she adds with a smile.
"Yes, the front," she answers Swayaah indulgently. Lubbers, she laughs to herself.
"Chains? Only chains on a ship this size would be anchor chains. Maybe extra as ballast in the bilge, but not always cause stones work just as well. Unless they were haulin' something that needed to be tied down with 'em. Odd, for sure," she finishes keeping an eye out as she carefully picks her way forward.

Jirelle is up early feeling pretty good about how the fight went last night. But she's really looking forward to heading out into the harbor. Water under her feet will feel so much more normal than all this walking wound the city. With that thought in mind, she follows Swayaah and the others as the make their inquiries, keeping back with Salera, though not encouraging the old woman to talk.

Jirelle smiles at the grumpy old man as he chases Salera away. Reminded of her own granddad, she gets up and lays her blanket across Ezren before returning to her seat by Swayaah.
"Mmmm, yeah, that is the good stuff," she says as she sips the pilfered rum. "Could be from Port Peril, there's a couple good distilleries there, of course, given all the demand."
Jirelle relaxes a bit and savors her drink, taking it in sips to enjoy the flavors. Her eyes are closed, and her head is back against the wall as she answers Swayaah.
"The Society's been pretty good so far," she says. "These teams are kind of like a ship's crew. There everyone has their specialty, but also everyone has to be competent in a fight."
It doesn't yet have that feeling of family that we get after months at sea together, she thinks wistfully.
Her eyes still closed, she slides down the wall until her head comes to rest in the lady tiefling's lap. But I suppose it could.... she thinks as she drifts off to sleep.

Jirelle checks out the bandage Pawero used on her left arm by giving it a couple swings as if she were shadow boxing with a dagger in hand. Satisfied that she's got a full range of motion, she plops down next to Swayaah.
"Thanks, Pawero. Feels good as new. Yeah, a fire and some "cocoa" would be nice. Hot grog would be even better, tho," she says wistfully.

"Ezren! No!" Jirelle cries as the old man drops. "Somebody help him. I'm gonna kill me a vampire!"
Remembering that Swayaah's claws seemed more effective, she draws her main-gauche, shifts her grip to put the edge back along her forearm, and tries to fake the vampire out.

Jirelle's glad for the assist from Pawero in taking out Green, and then also dropping Orange thus freeing her from its grasp. She nods in thanks even as she notes that Ezren's been grabbed just as she was.
She races to the old wizard's rescue bobbing and weaving across the old mansion's tiled floor. She slips past Ezren and spins around past the vampire.
"Swayaah, I thought you told me that vampires sparkle. These things just kind of go {splurch} and stink. Are you sure that's what they are?"

Jirelle quickly draws her rapier as she bolts toward the nearest of the enemies, spins around him (her? it?) and then plunges her blade straight through its icky Green torso.

"Oh, no, ma'am, I don't think there's any dead left to wake," Jirelle advises Salera innocently, not quite catching the meaning behind the woman's scolding. "Swayaah and the boys chased them away."
Humming her limerick to herself, she looks for a sturdy set of wall beams. Satisfied that she's found two that will support her thin physique, she rigs up a hammock to sleep in. "Just like on the ship," she tells anyone looking her way. "You sleep like a baby. You should try it. Uh, but maybe some other night."

Jirelle watches Swayaah try to talk down the ghosts while waving her hands around randomly. She must know what she's doing," the young half-elf thinks as she decides to try to help the investigator with her strange exorcism ritual dance.
"This mansion held only a ghost,
'Fear Not,' the Pathfinders did boast,
'We'll not make you a doll,
That's against protocol,
We're just ... uh ... looking for this ... uh ... hotel's Host!
She gives a little jig and waves her hands in a flourish as she finishes in spite of how badly she stumbled on the ending.

I didn't realize that the only element of Perform that requires training is to Earn Income. Makes sense. Most people I know can sing or dance, but certainly couldn't earn a living doing it. And I certainly can't do either nor write limericks.

Jirelle follows the two investigators back the way they just came. "See, I had a feeling we'd missed something. But it was probably a good idea to get everyone back together anyway. Just in case... You know...." she trails off to avoid jinxing them and keeps her rapier and buckler at the ready.

Jirelle gladly hands off the weird red liquid and even stranger notes. She doesn't understand the mystical notations or equations, and the diagrams are just plain creepy and unsettling.
She moves in behind Swayaah, rapier at the ready.
"At some point, something's gonna jump out at us. It's just a matter of when...." she notes to the tiefling, continuing to whisper out of habit in a place like this.

Eeny, meeny..., Eh, I'll stick with Swayaah. She's smart, and Bubba can handle himself, Jirelle decides as the party begins to scooby off.
"Find anything interesting?"
"Why am I whispering?" Jirelle chides herself with a laugh as she slips past Swayaah and into the reading room. She looks up at the exposed sky, takes a quick look around, then steps back to give the tiefling room to check the next door.

"I hear it, too," Jirelle pipes in. "But ghosts? I dunno," she adds trying to see if she knows anything at all about ghosts. But she's never encountered a ghost, so all she'd know would be what she'd heard in the shanties of old salts. And those aren't exactly known for their accuracy.
"Anyone see stairs leading below? Go meet 'em on our terms, rather than waiting for 'em to come get us?"
Either way, she's not keen on staying bunched up, and steps out of the gaggle to her right just a bit.

"So, it's like some of those ancient places near the Eye. Unlucky, then long abandoned. C'mon, Bubba," Jirelle says as she gives the halfling an elbow nudge. "Up the starbo... right side stairs?" she suggests. Though she doesn't start moving quite yet, in case her more observant friends notice anything amiss first.

"Yeah, I'm with them. Not 'glorious,' but exciting for sure."
Jirelle sheaths her rapier and turns to Tavvar and the acolytes.
"But like the lady said, we did save your bacon. So what say you let us copy the scrolls you used?"

Though ready for anything, Jirelle wasn't actually ready for this. The spectacle of the ritual, the shadow wisps, and cracks in Reality(!) give her pause. But she knows she needs to help.
She hustles up topside and catches Swayaah expressing her frustration at her own attempts to "fix the ritual." But Jirelle can kind of tell how it works. She's actually surprised at herself, but it's a little bit like a lock, or a puzzle.... "Ooh, yeah, it's kinda like those Qadiran puzzle boxes. My boson had one of those. Here, try this," she says as she carefully manipulates the ritual items.

"This place is just weird," Jirelle mutters more to herself than to anyone else. Maybe the shadows are listening, though.
"C'mon, Bubba, let's go see what's up topside."
She makes her way to the stairs, and as she steps around Swayaah she draws her rapier. The young half-elf gives her blade a few swishes in the air to limber up her wrist before turning back to her crewmates.
"Everyone ready?"

As Jirelle makes her way into the room with the stuffed critters, she pauses to stare at the latest shadow manifestation.
"Hey, is that... Cap'n Benarry?" Jirelle wonders upon seeing the shadowy half-orc woman freshening drinks. "You guys said this was all a mirage, right? Like those crazy floating islands I saw off the coast of the Linorn Lands?"

Jirelle does indeed continue to hang back. From what she's heard of this museum from this her current crew, she's inclined to keep a weather eye on their surroundings while the others are focused on stuff she can't begin to understand.
Why are there 7 tokens? Who is that standing next to Jirelle? I'm hoping it's a mistake, and not an enemy that snuck into their midst.

Jirelle acknowledges Pawero's cheeky gesture with a smile. It honestly hadn't occurred to her to just knock, but it does kind of make sense.
"Oh, hello. Chayron, was it? Hi, yes. Umm, we're looking for an associate of ours and were told we might find her here. Tavvar Hamavsi? Have you seen her?"

"Sure. How bad can it be?" Jirelle asks innocently.

Jirelle smiles as she soaks up the sun and enjoys the stroll along the flower-lined streets and past all the beautiful mansions. She stops as a corner cafe with some outdoor tables, and tries to chat with the waiter after he delivers her order. She even goes so far as to leave a generous tip hoping to loosen his lips as she listens for rumors of Nidalese rituals.

Jirelle tips her hat to Cap'n Benarry as the team makes its way to the door in Bubba's wake. She's still a little awed that she got to meet such a famous Captain, and she vows to do her best.
"Wait, what?" she asks Bubba as his story rouses her out of her fan-girl moment. "You ate how many? Oranges keep the scurvy away, but too many'll mess you up."
"You oughta try eatin' the shrimp shells when you cook 'em. They're good for your bones. Might make you a little taller," she says with a wink to Bubba so he knows she's just kidding. About the taller part, anyway. Eatin' the shells is normal at sea. Why waste good nutrition?

"We could work our way around the city clockwise. Petals district first, then spend the night in the 'haunted mansion.' Get up in the morning, grab some grub, and I'll take you lubbers out for a row to the Flotsam Graveyard, then finish up in Westgate just ashore from the western piers."
Unless someone's got a better plan," she adds a little hesitantly.

Seeing her compatriots' looks at the swashbuckler's surprising show of mental prowess, she shrugs. "What? It's a common word."

She pockets the Capn's gift, suspecting what it might be, but planning to ask one of her teammates to confirm that for her later.
"Thank you for that, and we'll make sure to check out the "haunted house." But we should probably let you get back to Master Westyr and serving punch. If we don't peel him away, my friend'll stick to her like a bad barnacle for the night."

Jirelle extends her cup toward Calisro's proffered flask. "If the Cap'n's offering the good grog, then aye, ma'am," she says slipping a little too easily back into the speech of a sailor. Cause Besmara knows I could use it after what those bilge-rats on the Daughter did.
Realizing how she sounded, she smiles self-consciously, mentally adjusts back to land-lubber-normal, and turns to the oread. "Honestly, Master Westyr, I'm one of those 'who don't know the first thing about how to defend against' magic. Though I planned to study mostly with the Swords, I could probably use some training from your school, too."

Jirelle nods at Janira's advise about talking to Calisro, though she's still a little unsure about meeting such an awe-inspiring woman. But with the rest of the team at her back, she squares her shoulders and walks right up to the pirate faction leader.
"Cap'n Benarry, it's a pleasure and an honor," she says in greeting as she puts her hand out. "Jirelle. I'm a new Agent, just ashore, and joined your Horizon Hunters."

Breaking out of her single-minded focus on the half-orc lady ship captain, Jirelle turns back to the group forming around Janira.
"Sorry," she says with a shy smile. "Just missing the sea. Spent the last year aboard The First Daughter out of Eleder." Talking about something familiar (albeit with its own load of unspoken baggage) helps her relax. "How about you all? Where do you hail from?"
"And who's Gorm?" she asks Pawero.

The half-elf woman stands alone on the docks watching the activity with a keen eye. Big freighters head in and out of Absalom’s port bound for all points of the Inner Sea and beyond while smaller ships come and go from nearby countries like Andoran and Qadira. Meanwhile, service boats ply back and forth between the moorings and the docks ferrying crews, passengers, and supplies. The air tastes of salt and seaweed, exactly as Jirelle likes it.
City at the Center of the World, they call it. A little arrogant if you ask me, but I guess it is the busiest port this side of Casmaron.
She sighs a little wistfully as one ship in particular rounds the jetties outbound. Its sails billowing in the newfound wind is the last that Jirelle sees of The First Daughter, the ship that had been her home for the last year. Until…. Jirelle chooses not to dwell on the circumstances that led her to leaving, and instead turns her back to the sea, just like they turned their backs on …. Damn it! No! It wasn’t their choice. Not entirely. Even so…
Her angry musing is interrupted by a young man with a Glyph of the Open Road embroidered on his tunic. ”Excuse me, miss. I was told to find a certain Society Initiate here. Can I ask your name before I deliver the message?”
”Jirelle,” she barks at the courier. ”Sorry, you caught me at a bad time,” she quickly apologizes as she sees his reaction. She repeats her name more politely, to which he nods, smiles tightly, and hands her a letter.
Huh. A party. Yeah, I could use a drink, she considers as she neatly folds the letter into her belt. Or ten.

She extends her had in greeting as Swayaah joins their conversation, and introduces herself to Salera, also. ”Do you two work together as a team?” she inquires of the tiefling. But as Swayaah begins to answer, Jirelle’s attention is caught by a half-orc woman sea captain at the drinks table, and she completely fails to hear anything Swayaah says.
”Janira, who is that?” she whispers in awe.
