"Sir Artegal speaks true, we were ambushed by little puppets that stole our bodies with a simple needle, but in that ambush also sits our hope, for they so easily overcame us that we must hope we can do the same to them now that we are the puppets. We had no chance against their strikes, our fates sealed before we could even resist, so we must posses the same subterfuge as those dastardly creatures, at least I hope it is so."
Nicu looks to Boote, hoping he has some insight into the new puppets and their domestic disputes in the face of peril. "Can that be the way to salvation? Do we dare not chance it, given the fates of our former comapnions?" Spear lowered, Nicu approached the new puppets cautiously, "Ho there, friends(?), we'll be slow about your cat, most certainly! We've no idea of this sausage threat, our paths must be very different, but we find ourselves in the same situation I fear, and I for one would join with you as we turn the tables on those that have stabbed us with shiny needles. What say you, are we welcome to join you and your tiger among puppets?" Nicu glances again to Gatto, still afraid of the giant creature.
Nicu watches the puppets climb from the box and observes the very different interaction as they show compassion to the kitty. Lowering his spear, he slowly, then with a little more exuberance, waves to the new group. "My friends, look at those puppets, they don't attack, they tend, maybe we've found more like us?"
Nicu, crestfallen at the loss of Dimitrio, climbs the stairs with Luc, Artegal and Donovan. "We'll avenge him, my friends, those responsible will be held accountable!" As they view the homey upstairs, the rumble of curiosity from the cat demands their attention and Nicu follows Atregal's lead. "A feline monstrosity will be much more a threat than the toys below. Should we climb that firewood and gain the high ground of the table?" Nicu braces his spear for a charge from the cat, hoping to protect his companions as they devise a new plan.
Nicu begins the climb, helping the others as they struggle up the barrier of the steps. "Luc, Dimitrio sacrificed himself for our escape, let's make the best of it!" Nicu salutes the fallen puppet with a caricature of a dance step he admired from the dextrous man. "We'll avenge his loss, let it not be in vain, climb my friends, climb!" (I'm assuming this is where Dimitrio departs from the story?)
"My javelins are twigs and about as useless, but these spears are decent." Nicu passes out any extras he may have. "Make sure you have a needle ready my friends, it's an unkind favor we must revisit, but the ends will justify the means." GM Bluedove: Before preparing any advancement, Nicu will steal a single page from the book, the most essential page as he can determine to the process of making the puppets. That page he'll fold and hide and build into his flimsy armor for protection and concealment.
"There enough stuff under these stairs to burn this shoppe to the ground if we decide that's an option. Let's hide that book real good like, so that no one can use it easily." assuming that's the same book we got information from already? "That mousetrap might go well on the stairs if we need to keep any big people from descending on us." Grabbing the glue, thread, leather laces, metal bits, wood chips, screws, wooden pegs, and strips of wire, Nicarrionette sets to crafting simple armor for his companions. "Quickly, little wooden boys and girls, let's do all we can to overcome this injustice."
With effort, Nicarrionnette climbs up to the book and reads the horrible truths within it's pages. "NO, My friends, we've been betrayed! This magic is as foul as any plane can muster! Read this, for I cannot speak it's evil!" then betraying his very sentiment, Nicarrionette does exactly that, "We must be needle bearers, it is the only way! We must stab ourselves!" Collapsing in utter despair, Nicarrionette weeps tears of sawdust.
Holy crap, that last post was the crux of the entire adventure! Although there is no way Nicu the character is going anywhere near that book, everything that matters to us solving this dilemma is contained in those few journal entries, like a Bram Stoker novel, so let's crack at it my fellow adventures! Let's get our rightful bodies back from the manipulations of Maligno, for the boy Figlio is already a casualty as we will surely be if we do not act!
"Of course they'll join! Who in the nine hells wants a puppet master pulling their strings? Join us, lads and lasses, join us and enjoy freedom." Nicarrionette doesn't shout or yell, he simply states the logical offer and lets it hang in the air of the shoppe, waiting for the puppet army to assemble and form neat, even rows.
reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 After landing heavily, Nicarrionette bounds to his little wooden feet and starts rummaging through the tools, looking for items that will be useful to the party's new stature. "Look, Dimitrio, a charcoal pencil, we can draw you a new mustache!" Finding a saw and hammer, he delivers the latter to the 'dwarf' and sets to work sawing at the bars of Luc's cage. can Nicarrionette take 10 with engineering to use the twine along with the hooks holding the cages as a rope and pulley to lower the cages to the floor? With Luc, Artegal, and Nicu we would have three on the end of the rope.
"Yes, Sir Artegal" a squeaky voice answers, "We'll find our way free from this, or die trying." Nicu the carrionette struggles to stand on little wooden legs and investigate the cage. "Maybe we can find a way out and make a ladder down of ourselves, instead of crashing to the floor and alerting anyone to our escape?" |
