Shadow Lodge

I just saw that Fantasy Grounds does indeed have the Valkyrie class available now.

You guys should try Roll20, or Fantasy Grounds, whom will have the Valkyrie integrated sometime soon.

Shadow Lodge

It appears to be the #1 compatible download for second week in a row!

No 3PP is PFS legal, but this is certainly great for home games.

Shadow Lodge

Nice!

Shadow Lodge

Anyone else make one yet?

Shadow Lodge

Oooh... great addition to the Northlands game!

Shadow Lodge

It's a PFRPG product, but it also has a few 5E conversion options within.

Shadow Lodge

Glad you liked it. We are assembling a number of races that will eventually be put in a print compendium.

Shadow Lodge

Patrick J. gives this 5-stars on DTRPG!

"I really like the concept of a lifeform evolving on a comet and the long cycles that of that comet on a multiple star systems. This race is not for the technically inclinded but makes up for it is style and mystisim. Well written and illistrated. I can't wait to add these guys as NPCs and possible PCs in the near future in my games."

Shadow Lodge

Nice!

Shadow Lodge

This was the #1 Pathfinder download on DriveThruRPG until today. Still #2 however, with one 5-star review already!

Shadow Lodge

Print copies are indeed available on Amazon.

Shadow Lodge

Thanks Tom!

Shadow Lodge

Nice! #BringingBackDarkCreepers

Shadow Lodge

No Hero Lab files here sadly, but I do believe the updated version will become available on Wolflair's site for download.

Shadow Lodge

Sweet!

Also looks like the #1 selling product on DriveThruRPG right now, not just in Pathfinder, but site-wide!

Shadow Lodge

Try Laying Waste by Total Party Kill Games for a serious 5-star critical hit system.

Shadow Lodge

I'll post some spoilers here in a few days.

Shadow Lodge

I think one of the coolest concepts in this book is the reverie feats. They are feats that allow the elves to channel deep into their minds during their meditative reverie, and gain near-psychic powers through the dreaming realm.

Shadow Lodge

Now available for 5e players!

Shadow Lodge

Yeah, the demonologist is a mix of the summoner and witch, yet still feels like its own class. More versatile than either, but not as directly powerful in summoning or hexes than those two classes. But, you get specialized demonic servants, magic circle powers and a ton of infernal hexes, some of which are pretty damn cool. I'd say very flavorful and solid addition to a party (or as a wicked villain).

Shadow Lodge

I think the answer is yes, it's a typo. I believe they are supposed to be one category, since the Demonologist doesn't have grand hexes.

Shadow Lodge

Definitely give Total Party Kill Games adventures a try. The Reaping Stone, Bleeding Hollow and Fen of the Five-Fold Maw will all play consecutively and are a lot of fun. It's sort of a badge of honor to complete them.

@The NPC: We tend to only give review copies to select reviewers who have a track record for community reviews. If you would like to discuss reviewing for us, send me an email to necro@tpkgames.com.

Shadow Lodge

Woooooo!

If you want to auto confirm crits, just have them automatically deal a light critical hit. Or add +10 to the severity check, which along with the d20 roll should net at least a light critical.

Shadow Lodge

I think it's perfectly acceptable to allow PCs to choose to fail saves using this. That would have to be agreed upon by all first, but it won't hurt anything.

We ran an Ultimate Gladiator championship this past weekend using these rules and the option Armor as DR. Wow! It was intense and a ton of fun.

Shadow Lodge

Only a few hours left! $420 unlocks the entire loot bag!

Shadow Lodge

Yes, by all means feel free to message me on kickstarter and swap out the secondary book.

Shadow Lodge

I completely understand. It probably isn't communicated well enough that there are also chase cards (and encounter cards) for the adventure. So the PDF backers are getting 3 core PDFs from us, and up to 10 bonus PDFs as we unlock the stretch goals. I understand your criticism though, and it's valid. We'll definitely have a simpler and less expensive pricing strategy on our next project. Unfortunately, we can't adjust the pricing after launch. Have a great day and thanks for the feedback.

On a side note, with all the extras, you are investing in a great adventure.

Shadow Lodge

Today we'll be doing a live Google Chat hangout. Hit up our Facebook Page to ask questions that we'll answer. Preferably not about the air flight speed velocity of an unladen sparrow...

Shadow Lodge

As of today, we'll be giving away Hero Lab files for each and every villain and NPC in the adventure.

That's a nice start, but there's a ton more great things coming, and a TON OF FREE PDFs to award as the pledges come rolling in. Be part of this awesome adventure!

If you were a fan of the 5-star Bleeding Hollow adventure, you won't want to miss this.

Shadow Lodge

Thanks Elorebaen!

Shadow Lodge

Yes... give the evil to me.

Shadow Lodge

BPorter, that's fantastic to hear. Glad your group is enjoying it!

Correct. We are producing a much better quick start guide and game aid that will be added to the downloads and distributed free. Coming soon.

Shadow Lodge

For those of you who are afraid this may slow down games, it becomes pretty seamless after a few runs through. We are working on a handy cheat sheet for printing that will let you have all the charts for your weapon.

Also, there is a really great Laying Waste app on google play and on d20pfsrd.com. I've used it, and it's very slick.

Shadow Lodge

@Itchy, that's great! Also, I'll put "MORE Wasted!" down for a possible title... Also, you are correct about alchemy. At this time, I don't have a good option for you. I'm not sure alchemist bombs actually do critical damage.

@BlackOuroboros, you are correct. That's why we created a fumble system based on flat DC 20 saves. As you gain more attacks, your skill increases, and your chances of actually suffering a crit are much lessened.

Does it slow down combat? At first, yes. It takes a few crits for everyone to see how it works, and then you should be golden. It's even faster if you have the app though! It's sort of a trade-off, and one I opted for. You won't do 100+ points of damage on critical hits that would end a major fight. Instead, you'll deal very flavorful effects and you'll get a few more rounds out of your fights (which makes combat more fun).

Shadow Lodge

Cool! I'll be curious to see what other houserules come out of this.

Shadow Lodge

I wouldn't suggest allowing that. We did have people ask it. Naturally, I would defer to the GM and the situation, but the effects are supposed to be the "bad stuff" and the bonus damage be the trade-off if you save.

Shadow Lodge

We built it on the framework of the critical hit and fumble decks. What we did though was address much of the concerns people had with them though. The crits have a new system designed to make even threat rolls exciting (no total let downs from not confirming). Also, we've expanded the crits into tiers of effect (light, moderate and severe). You need to be very skilled or roll really well to do some of the more heinous crits.

On top of that, each of the effects have a save for the critical effect. If you make the save, you suffer some bonus damage instead of a debilitating effect. Even if you save, there is still some effect. Everyone wins. Also, there are options to heal or recover from all the effects. I bet your players all start putting some ranks into Heal or other skills after you play with this.

Not to mention, we put together a veritable who's who of contributing writers who helped design 16 martial archetypes and over 100 combat feats. This is a huge sourcebook that will change how combat works in your games. Thanks to our kickstarter, we had over a hundred playtesters get their input in on the final design and it both works well and is a lot of fun. I've heard from a lot of groups that they won't go back to the old system of critical hits after using this.

It's fun, I promise.

Shadow Lodge

I believe the app currently only supplements the sourcebook. It will generate the critical hits (but not fumbles as of yet) and it is up to the player to determine the severity (light, moderate or severe). At this point, one copy of Laying Waste would be necessary per group.

In addition, it comes with a ton of extra content, such as over 100 feats and 16 martial archetypes for use with Laying Waste.

Shadow Lodge

Fumbles tend to be less common, depending on the relative power. As a GM you could pretty easily rule that fumbles have DC 15 saves if you are playing in a 15 point buy low-magic game. Of course you are correct though, being good at everything and having divine favor definitely helps!

Shadow Lodge

Glad to hear you are enjoying Laying Waste. We read over a ton of feedback from other critical systems before we went to work on our own.

There is a quick chart in the back of the book to print out for players. It doesn't have all the hit tables, but we might make one for free, that's a great idea.

As for fumbles, you are correct. You don't have to make double rolls, just a saving throw to dodge the effect.

Shadow Lodge

It's honestly an easy transition. It takes a couple critical hits and fumbles to see how it works, then it's nice and smooth once everyone knows the basics. I think GMs of all people would want to use this, as it makes combat more fun and balanced.

Shadow Lodge

Love hearing that! One thing we all noted in the playtest was that more people would be taking the Heal skill too. Let's face it, most warrior-types should know some basic medical training just in case!

Shadow Lodge

Thanks for the review Megan!

Shadow Lodge

I hear ya. Unfortunately, game mechanics are fantasy and often far removed from reality, so it becomes very subjective sometimes in regards to effects. In Laying Waste, we tried to be somewhat realistic, at the same time not impair the targets so much that the game would cease to be fun. In real life, a broken leg is not fun.

When we mention restorative magic, that's not cure light wounds, that would be restoration. Since it repairs ability damage, it seems fair that it could mend a broken leg. Also, as written in the core rules, ability damage returns at 1 point per day. You certainly could choose to house-rule it to 1/week, but I'd caution against it with this system, as your chances of taking ability damage are higher.

Now, if you are in a low-magic game, where extended rests are more common, that might be freaking awesome. Your game, your rules. Have fun!
