Hi James!

Can the spell Baleful Shadow Transmutation be used to remove a Tarrasque's Regeneration (Ex), thereby allowing it to die?

The spell isn't mindaffecting, and even if it were, a mesmerist could use his stare to bypass the immunity.

Hi I have a question about the Dark Tapestry:
I read that Zon-Kuthon was changed after he came back from "the dark places between and beyond the planes". I assume this refers to the Dark Tapestry.
1. Does this mean that dark tapestry/outer space is not part of any plane?
2. If so does that mean that someone in outer space cannot planeshift?
3. What about the dark tapestry's connection to the inner planes?

4. Also bonus question who/what changed Zon-Kuthon? Dominion of the Black, Outer Gods, or something else?

Thanks for the response! I ran into a few questions again :p and this is such a great thread to ask

1. Can the AI use Possession?

2. Similarly, can the AI use Mind Swap? This is a bit trickier to me since a normal humanoid target wouldn't be able to control your robot body.

3. Since AIs use their saves for "attacks targeting their mind", does this mean they arent immune to mind-affecting effects? If that is the case, why are normal robots, which possess intelligence as well, immune to mind effects?

Hello I recently read a bit about technology spells from the Technology Guide, and I came across the spell Make Whole, Greater. The greater version of this spell scales as follow:

description wrote:
This spell repairs 1d6 points of damage plus 1 point per level when cast on a construct creature (maximum 10d6+10).

Notice that the section specifying the maximum also gives insight on how the spell scales. This spell has a xd6 + y format. I always thought that spells with this format only scaled the y part of the equation. In this case, if a lvl 20 caster used this spell, I would think that it should repair 1d6 + 20 points of damage.

However, the above spell scales the entire base equation. Both the number of die and the added constant are scaled. Is this how spells are supposed to scale or is it an isolated case?

Another spell from the Tech guide, Destroy Robot, has the exact same wording:

description wrote:
The target takes 12d6 points of damage + 1 point per caster level, or 3d6 points of damage + 1 point per caster level on a successful saving throw.

If both the die number and the constant are scaled, this makes the spell insane (especially since its uncapped, unlike make whole greater). A lvl 20 caster would deal 240d6 + 20 damage on a failed save.

Clarifications please! I'm pretty sure its a mistake, and the correct ruling would be that only the constant is scaled. The wording has always been ambiguous with these kind of spells.

This is a pretty old post but I just saw this badass psi-tech option and I wonder how you would handle transitioning your creature type from Humanoid to AI (in terms of stats)? There aren't really any clear rules.

Is your AI CR equal to your Psychic class level?

Do you get the AI bonuses that are based on its CR? Things like 6+int skill points per CR, +2 int/wis/cha per 2 CR, and 1 feat per 2 CR.

For the feats and the skill points, I'm leaning towards the base PC feats/psychic skill points overriding the AI gains (else you would get 10 free feats immediately, not to mention enough skill points to max out most your skills).

Not sure about the ability score gains. Would it replace the +1/4lvl that all PCs gain, or would it replace the +2 some races get? It would be pretty broken (and badass) to suddenly get +20 to your int. At the same time it makes sense since as an AI you should get better processing power than your fleshy equivalent.

0.5: Pretty sure immunity to mind-affecting effects is just for harmful effects. Normally there's a clause somewhere in there that says if you're immune to all mind-affecting effects including beneficial ones like morale bonuses.

1. It'd be like having a follower, only you assume direct control. Separate initiative, separate spells, and so on. Your GM would have to be willing to play ball, of course.

2. No idea, probably not for sake of ease.

3. This one's a little awkward, since it isn't a possession effect but it says it functions similarly to possession the spell. I would say it doesn't work with this particular spell.

Thanks for the response. When you say separate spells, does that mean you effectively double your spell pool as a spontaneous caster? Or do the 2 creatures only cast simultaneously, but share the same spell pool?

I specifically wish for more clarifications on the lvl 20 bloodline power Dual Spirit (Su).

The first part about immunity to mind-affecting effects is pretty straightforward. I assume this immunity doesn't prevent you from buffing yourself, but what about your allies? (Ex. Ally casting heroism on you).

The second part is trickier.

Whenever you successfully employ a possession effect (such as magic jar or possession), you remain in complete control of your body and the body of your possessed target.

3 questions comes to mind regarding this ability.

1. If you control 2 bodies with a shared soul, how do things like initiative, spells, actions, and senses work?

2. Does this power allow you to chain possession effects and hence control multiple creatures at the same time?
For example, cast possession on goblin A, then immediately on goblin B, resulting in controlling your original body as well as 2 goblins.

3. How does this power work in relation to Mind Swap? Do you stay in control of your own body in this case? Mind Swap is a mind-affecting effect, unlike possession.

Pls help I like the flavour of Dual Spirit but I have no idea how exactly it works!
