"Yes sir, Ramona Blackhawk. Thank you for taking a moment, I'm sure you're plenty busy." Ramona replies, returning the smile.

"Getting ready for the next mission, and I thought to mention something you might find of interest. We've had a bit o' downtime recently and gotten around a bit, getting a feel for what the town has to offer. Anyways I encountered a delightful lady named Tessalane……Tessalane Faircoin, runs The River's Mint. Anyways she seemed pretty interested in any information that she could round up about you in particular. Asked about you by name….by first name actually, considering I never mentioned who I worked for before it was brought up, I thought you might have an interest in that.” she explains.

He froze and his eyes widened slightly at the sound of the halfling woman's name. It took him a moment then he grinnned his charming grin still shaking his head slightly.

"Tenacious should be her name by the light."

He muttered and reached up running his hands through his curly mop of hair.

"Long ago when I was just a useful slip belonging to a Tomb robber in Katapesh, we met at an inn in Katapesh. She worked there, we hit it off I thought. Turns out she is an accomplished pick pocket. My master discovered that out on a dig that got him killed. I fled north and eventually found myself in Absolom where i met most of the senior members of the Shields. Four years after that at an inn in Totra down Osirion way ran across her again working in a tavern."

He paused and ran his hand through his hair again taking a deep breath.

"I didnt hold her stealing from my old master against her but I'll be damned if she didnt steal a bunch of things from my friends. Ran across her again in Absolom where she was working for a trading company. Same story different place. That lass is like a bad copper piece always showing back up."

sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

You get there is something more behind his consternation, but he wasnt saying anything about it.

"She was running a place? All her own? Perhaps she has seen the error of her ways... perhaps not, I watch my purse in her place all the same if I were. Thanks for the heads up she's in town. If you don't mind I need to finish up with two folks, good luck on your next mission."

He finished giving you a polite nod to return to his desk and the briefing he was giving to the two rugged lads there.

Oh by the by. Did you ever get a little backstory finished up? :P I was going to add something backstory related stuff here but i couldnt find where it posted >.<

Poke Poke NPC for answer

The halfling frowned for a moment clearly thinking about it.

"No. If you see proof of him doing anything underhanded turn your head to it, just let me know. As much as I would like to stamp out all forms of illegal trades, its not pratical nor in the job description. Besides They've been good folk to work with before. I just have a feeling something more is going on than he mentioned. So uh yeah tell me so I can cat paw it.... I guess what does that mean precisely?"

Talking with Sir Colewin,

"Do you have an idea what was in the missing shipments? It could help tell us what the Hobgoblins are doing at the old fort."

After the meeting, Zinar heads for Mistress Allura.

"Darkwood... and other lumber. Im not sure exactly what happened, but my guess is that those shipments were taken by those hobgoblins building that fort near the river."

Gudleifr Hervardr wrote:
"Sir, what do you think the contractor might be hiding from us?"

"Thats a good question and I have no idea. It wasnt anything said, just a hunch of mine that he was hiding something. Rupert knows not to even broach hiring anyone of mine for smuggling jobs. It could be more of just being embaressed thats he's lost two shipments already. it could be something else. Just keep your eyes open."

The halfling paladin chuckled at explosive minded goblin.

"Excellent since you are both here already I can get started on the briefing and give you all time to prepare."

He moved behind his desk opened a drawer and rummaged for a moment before he pulled out a small scroll. Standing on the his chair he unfurled the scroll onto his desk. I was a map of The Areas around Lake Encarthan.

"When we receieved word about possible problems with hobgoblins we informed the merchants here in Macridi. One of them was already missing two shipments whom we now believe were indeed taken by the Hobgoblins. Their Business however must still go on. They have a shipment that is heading for the town of Vellumis in Lastwall that leaves in three days. Something else is also afoot, though i am not sure exactly what. Our contractor and myself go back a bit, and i know he is hiding something.

You are to meet up with Captain of the vessel outside the offices of the Riveroak trading coster. Your journey, weather permitting should take about 3 and a half weeks. Follow the captain's orders, as long as you find them morally sound, and have safe travels."

He finished once more rummaging through his desk. He procured two more of the scrolls to be used for the gear.

"Dont forgot to talk to Urberk Stoneshield about arms or armor. You will have to leave before whatever you commision is ready no doubt, but it will be ready when you return."

"Bah. I dont like the looks of it at all. Team grey had a mission that took them south and east and they ran across a fellow whose inn was burned down by a bunch of hobgoblins, match the reports we had from the team that was wiped out up north. I've already sent Tamrinil to scout this fort of yours. If they appear to be a part of the other groups that have shown up... well we see about that."

He hopped off the stool and nodded to them.

"Another request has come up, since you are with group grey Gudleifr im assigning this mission to you folk. I just need to get the other folk going with you here as well."

He began going to the door. He whistled sharply to one of the servants called down.

"You! Mabry is it? find me Ravboom the other little goblin fellow about the place and Master Ramiro yes the older fellow. They've a mission."

He offered turning back around and slipping back into his office.

"I didnt mention it earlier but successful recruits after their first mission get a bonus. I have this papers here that you can use with our smiths to get specialized gear made for you martial folk. Zinar if you would like mistress Allura might have an item or two that would spark your interest, or you could see what the blacksmith has to offer magey folk. I will have a briefing ready for you after dinner, you folk are dismissed until then if you've no other questions."

Amed and Aurelain

"Master Stoneshield's cousin is always looking to earn coin, even in times of potential trouble. Considering my patron its a respectible trait."

The halfling began with a slight chuckle as he reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a set of parchments that for the most part already looked as if someone had worked on them.

"You boys, did well. I would like you to consider these...recruitment gifts for a job well done. And enticement to stay for a long spell. We could use you in the shields for months and years to come."

He began as he finished filling out a few things on the parchments, mainly his signature and a quick imprint of the seal on his ring on fresh wax dripped on the paperwork.

"Until we get either another work request or more information on those hobgoblins considered yourselves on free time."

He added with a smile handing you the papers and a small pouch filled with coin.

As I mentioned, with the chits you can choose one type of alloy to have your armor made with for free, so you just have to basically pay for the item and the masterwork cost. If you need a list of weapon alloys let me know.

"AH There you are Nizvit, I was beginning to worry."

The halfling paladin began with a big smile... and a mouth full of biscuit. Taking a moment to chew and swallow he began again.

"The long and short of your mission is to help an old friend of the SilverShields problem at his tavern about small blue creatures. A riverboat should be waiting for you Macridi "quick" Thomas will have the boating details."

The halfling paladin chuckled at Tindertwigs ... well being himself.

"Hes a sneaky little archer, good hand with traps, He's a mite on the curious side, so try to keep him from getting himself into too much trouble.... You heard that right Tindertwig stay out of trouble."

He said with a grin slightly shaking his head. He had faith in the greenskined goblin. He was certainly not typical for his race in general.

"As for your concerns Zardu, those armbands there will tell him who you are, he will recognize it and know you are representives of me. If you are worried the man wont be whom he says he is, ask him about the battle over Brujah. If he doesnt correct you and bring up it was the battle of Bruza...well its not him. "

He paused openeing a drawer in his desk and pulling out a tiny peice of slate and a peice of chalk.

"This here writing board is magical, something Allura came up with years back. I had hoped that well your first official mission would be more straight forward, but since it may not be you can write a message on this board and it will appear on the larger baord in the war room. We will get back to you as soon as we can to help with any questions you have, just be aware that while the magic is recharging it is limited. So at most you will probably be able to ask 3 things before it has to recharge and it may take a few minutes for any responses to appear."

He turned his attention to Liam and grinned.

I sent word to 'Quick' to charter a riverboat heading to Kearse about twenty minutes ago, when you have no more questions gather your things, take some horses and ride into Macridi, you can leave them at the stable there, we will have someone pick them up. Find the boat hired by Quick and head north along the river into Kearse."

"Dont mind if i do."

The halfling began taking a biscuit from Tindertwig. After a good bite he continued.

"To be honest Grimlak I dont know much. The letter said and I quote..."My little blue friends here." You guess is as good as mine what that means.

The large bellied halfling sat at a desk in his office taking a sip of coffee.

"I receieved a letter yesterday from an old friend in the Capitol (Kerse) who runs an inn called The Low Seas Tavern. It seems he has three rather strange guests. Now Ole One-Eye Halloran isnt the most trustworthy of fellows to most, but he is a good friend to me. Go to Kearse, go to The Low Seas Tavern find out what he needs and provide aid.... as long as its legal."

He said taking one more sip.

"If you have questions ask them now."

The halfling stood up onto his seat clearing his throat.
"Since the war two years ago with those foolish Ishgarians ended, jobs have been popping up faster than we can keep up with. That just means lots of coin to be made. Ive screened some jobs that will be right up to you junior members. "

"Team Black, Report to Master Stoneshield in the armory."

He began nodding to the large dwarf. He nodded back and ran his hand through his reddish beard that just started having flecks of whitish in it.

"Gather your grub iffn you aint finished it, no sense being pekish while ye listen."

He began heading for the side door leading to the yard outside. The armory was on the north wall.

With the table cleared The halfing strode atop it.

"Team grey report to Allura in the library."

He began the matronly woman rose from her seat and gave a shallow half bow to the paladin on the table.

"Come along then."

She began leading the way towards the library in the back of the keep.

"Team white with me, we will meet up in my office. Someone bring some biscuits."

He began hopping down off the table, and grabbing a mug heading for the stairwell.

Everyone feel free to dot into your respective threads . . . oh and finish up here if you want.
