I hate to say it, but reckon we are probably stuffed. It sort of tickles my sense of irony though that the sad end of the game would actually be the first time in over twenty years I have seen a Cthulhu game finish with a happy ending and living players! That said, at least we got the thing to a completed storyline BEFORE it wound up. Disppointingly, the King in Yellow campaign that I was really enjoying (albeit a VERY VERY SLOW) also fell over.

PWO?

Sorry was slack updating, I thought I had it right, then realised I was doing it wrong... D20 is an odd system! Carry on though, Murph was sleeping (unless we are about to be shot at!)

Time to read the rules and see how taht works in D20!

...to a strangely paranoid man?

"Best idea I have heard in ages, and no chance of some crazies trying to kill us in our sleep. Now THAT'S a relief!" With that Murphy grabs the sofa.

Once the others are out of sight, he moves his gun to under his pillow

"Whatever you say Prof. You want to lay low a while then I'm fine with that, want to do it in Boston then that works too"

"I will need a photo lab to develop the early shots, who knows what I might have snapped when we first got to town?"

"What a horrid mess. No way is any news going to come off as welcome news"

"Then how soon before we depart?" Murphy appears to be heading for the door, suggesting immediately is the expected answer.

Murphy enjoys his drink whilst he waits and has a light browse around.

"Coming right up boys"

Murphy checks the bottle, then cracks the lid and starts pouring.

"Might need a few of these, so I'll keep the bottle handy"

"Lets get all freshed up, then let's see about where we need to be and who we need to talk to. I need to get to a developer for all this film too" Murphy points to all his camera rolls from their arrival in the nightmare town.

"Suppose we are for a bit of a journey then"

"I'm sorry about what happened back there boys, but those fellas were bad and they'd have whacked us just the same... no hard feelings eh?"

"Best we forget all about the place, just scram while we got the chance"

"They didn't win, it wasn't a game... it was their life for who knows how long. A small miracle for us that we made it out of that living Hell in one piece, and a lot of the others we arrived with weren't so lucky... we did what we had to do and there's no shame in that, the Divine Creator surely smiled upon us"

"Besides, I still have all the photos"

"Arkham it is"

"Arkham"

"Sounds safer somehow" Murphy adds.

Whateley farm would be an idea, might be more gas there!

"Pleased to meet ya Frank"

Murph is just happy being in a car, preferably one leaving town.

Murphy is glad of how this is unfolding, and quietly gets in the back.

"Or both, but we ain't got time to chat about it now"

"So how to get their attention safely eh? Just dont step too far on the road, they might run you down if not so innocent strangers"

"Might be our ticket out of here"

Murphy pushes onwards!

"The bloody minded bastards won't get us, lets just keep our wits sharp, and ensure we don't hesitate when it comes to what needs doing"

/runrunpuffpuffrunrun...

Done deal on the plan

Good question, though probably through the Cem, over Hutchins and then into the woods and begin circling in cover is probably the go...

"No time to waste then, lets get to it... off to that crazy house with that bizarre man. If he's too strange for these folks though then we really need to mind ourselves" Murph clutches his pistol and makes his break.

Not saying arbitrarily push to slaughterhouse, but rather once it achieves its cumination point that might be a decent spot to give it a rest :) We might win, we might lose, but either way just three of us can keep it tight fast and exciting.

To be honest I never saw this as being a particularly long and drawn out affair, and with three people it actually works better in that things become tighter and less comfortable, three people clinging to each other in the dark as the events of this town culminate in a bloody final few hoursa of insanity. The notion of a Cthulhu/Horror game is lessened by the idea that there could really be any happier outcome than a frantic escape through the woods, with the most likely final moments being our messy demise :p Murphy has already moved to a cutthroat Us V Them mindset which is why he gunned down the others... this isn't about surviving to go get the law, this is a case of 'kill or be killed' to him.

TL;DR I am happy for this to go with 3 people (almost PREFER it) although I'd be surprised if we get out of this town - its more a case of who or what we can take with us as we go down fighting (or we escape).

Well for us that do, we try make do with our sucky skills and grab anything official looking :p

"Well that can't be real good"

Murphy checks his pistol and makes ready for a shootout.

"Grab any of those papers that look important, we may need to move quickly"

"Its just one large inbred circle it seems"

"These people really ARE nuts... how the Hell do we deal with this one?"

"Suprised they even had the written word in this hick town"

"Pop it all out on the floor Prof, lets see if theres a bigger picture to come out of it all"

They all use the same names though, so which one is which huh?"

"They sure seem set on using the same names over and over, and those aren't good biblical names either. Good idea looking for Whately references"

Gather Info 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

What skill is that under? damn D20 system! :p

"Good a place as any, let's go"

Murphy grabs whats left...

"We can make up a torch later if we need, the question is now where are we heading?"

"Should stick together..."

Murph follows on.

"Looks like this place hasn't been much of a Church for some time now, so don't feel bad about taking what we need. Besides, desparate times and all"

"Maybe theres a back door...?"

Murphy looks about the space they are in, hoping for an obvious exit.

"Good thinking"

Murphy looks about for some sort of light source, like a lantern.

"This ain't looking good"

Murphy pushes the door shut again, hoping the villagers dont have much to pound on it with.

Murphy just didn't get his footing back and continues to stumble.

Acrobatics 1d20 ⇒ 5

Murph stumble after the rapidly moving professor, trying to be quiet but at a fast pace...
