Hey all! It's probably been asked before, but I can't find an answer, so new post. I have a wiz 8, crossblood sorc 1 (orc and red dragon) in pfs. To help overcome immunities, I also took the elemental spell metamagic feat. Draconic says spells with the descriptor that match my bloodline (fire in this case) do +1 damage per die. If I change the element, would it still be a fire spell that just happens to do another element (and still get my damage boost)? Or does it change the description to that other element (loosing my damage boost)? Thanks in advanced for any help! ![]()
Very end of RotRL. Group was my Dwarf Fighter/Stalwart Defender, Half Orc Barb, Elf Wizard, Kitsune Sorc, and Human Monk. I engage the rune giant and hold it in place due to my abilities to stop its movement and it's inability to hit me. Karzoug's (sp?) champion appears from behind cover and completely murders the sorc in one round. Barbarian moves to engage him and they slug it out for a while. Thing starts moving around to the wizard and put's a hurting on him, but then the barb finishes him off. I finished mine off without taking any damage. Monk was pretty ineffective this whole time. The barbarian then decides to take the champion's weapon and coup him using his own weapon, thus unleashing Karzoug. Starts out with a time stop and delayed blast fireballs. Wizard and Barb go down. I'm about at half health, monk is still fairly ok. I charge him, but I'm less than effective due to fatigue from ending my defensive stance. Monk comes up, and declares a quivering palm attack. Rolls a nat 20 to hit. Time for Karzoug to make his save (only fails on a 1 or 2). Rolls a one. Monk decides to kill him outright then (once again, only fails on a 1 or 2) and GM rolls another 1. Karzoug is dead. We finish the campaign, with only 2 surviving party members. From now on it's a running joke if we're about to lose that a monk shows up and quivering palms everyone. ![]()
^ What those guys said. Pinned is a more severe form of grappled, so the grapple condition effects are still in play, except for where it's expressly overruled by the pinned condition effects. And the way the rules work, if it says you can only do a few small options, that's a all you can do. So no, no attacking while pinned. That's why grappler characters focus so much on trying to get their target to pinned as soon as possible (whether through snapping turtle clutch or greater grapple) ![]()
Dorin Halfcub wrote: @Mr_Bearkitty I was disappointed with the Emerald Spire. It seemed too easy to me, I think we only had 1 character death total? Maybe 2. We had a rough go of it. Mostly due to it being pfs and no one showed up with super optimal characters. We started with 5 PC's and by the end of #4 we were down to two. My wizard and a summoner. ![]()
I ended up going with a Wild Rager (something I'd never do in a real game)) beast totem barbarian, and a wizard who buffed the barb (haste, monstrous physique, and heroism) and could lay down battlefield control and had a few save or sucks. First match I went up against a sniping rogue and a sorc. I murder death rage pounced both of them very quickly, but not after the wizard went down due to sniping and some failed saves on evocation spells. Round 2, I went up against two goblin slayers that were spec'd straight into assassinate (Like a dc 30). Everyone passed their saves for the assassinate and I pounced them again. No problem. Round 3 was against a fighter and cleric. Once again, no problem there. Ran out of time before round 4, so we'll finish it later. But that'll be up against two inquisitors. So we'll see how that goes. EDIT: Thanks for the advice everyone. They all seemed like they could be very viable. In the end, I went with the decision of barb just for the sheer amount of damage he could put out with pounce and the extra attacks from wild rager and haste. Best defense is an overwhelmingly aggressive offense. Edit 2: Offense for barb was something like: +22,+22, +22, +17 6d6+32 (huge size due to monstrous physique, haste, and a +1 impact furious Great Sword) sting natural attack at about +16 for 2d8+20 or so damage. ![]()
Hey All, We're doing a one off thing tonight for our gaming session and I wanted to get some opinions. The situation. Round robin tourney idea. Two - 10th level characters. Standard WBL + 10K for each character (No giving one the lions share of it though, and no crafting). Spells, hp, class abilities all reset between fights. No time to buff beforehand. If you use wands / potions, they don't reset. Only Pathfinder material. No 3rd party or 3.x. So I was thinking of either a "God" wizard/ summoner (sp) and blasty sorc. Or for fun, either two mounted fighters / cavaliers. What do you all think? Or any thoughts on builds/ tips and tricks for me to get the edge? We're playing for the choice in Christmas dice we get from the host, so needless to say, a lot is riding on this. Thanks. EDIT: I don't know what the battlefield conditions will be beforehand. ![]()
First off, thanks for the answers everyone. Second, to give more information, we skipped the optional encounter and two other planned encounters. The 3 we had done were supposed to only run about two hours from what the GM said. We were roughly at 3.5 hours at that point. Hence him cutting the optional (which I'm ok with) and the two others. If he'd given us the option and clearly explained the repercussions of not completing the encounters, I'd be fine with how things turned out. But with him cutting the two non-optional encounters and then removing the gold just because he didn't want to stay late(r) was what I was trying drill down into. ![]()
Hey All, During my last PFS session I ran into a situation that doesn't seem quite right to me. Due to the group being level 1 and 2, our combat's took longer than expected. This was also a very combat heavy scenario with roughly 6 combats. So to finish in a timely manner still (only 45 minutes long) we skipped a few of the middle combats. We finished the session, and when the GM was filling out the chronicle sheet, he only gave us the gold from the enemies we had defeated, which ended up being roughly half of what the chronicle sheet said we were supposed to get. So my question is, is this something he's allowed to do? I haven't ran a PFS game, so I'm not 100% sure on the rules for a GM. Thanks in advance. ![]()
Questions all in the title. I'm wondering if there's been another thread somewhere about this (I couldn't find one)? Or if someone has any thoughts? I'm trying to build a trip mutagen warrior, but if a str mutagen disqualifies me for combat expertise, by dropping int below 13, I'll have to figure something else out. Thanks all ![]()
Hey all, So I'm jumping off the deep end and making my first non martial for pfs. I was wondering if I could get some pointers for the build. Im wanting him to be a controller and/ or a buffer. Any ideas? my stats are before racial (sorry if buy is off, on my phone) Str: 7
Race I was thinking elf or human 1 feat I wad thinking was toughness. Any ideas for spells, schools and traits? Thanks in advance everyone. ![]()
Hey all, I moved here a few months ago, and started playing Pathfinder as a way to meet more people. The group I was playing with is now taking a break so I figured I'd try getting in on some PFS play. Is there any society play in the area that I can join in on? And if so, what will I need to do to be ready for the first gaming session. Thanks in advance for the help everyone. ![]()
Hey all, I'm building a gunslinger for a campaign and I have a quick question. We're using advanced firearms and I know that they have to use metal cartridges. If I'm to make them myself instead of buying them directly, what would the cost to me be? Any help on previous threads, or if someone could do the math for me, that'd be great. Thanks in advance. ![]()
Hey everyone, I'm trying to build a Human Gunslinger - Musket Master archtype, for a homebrew game. It's pathfinder rules, but you can have anything from 3.5 and PF. I rolled for stats (4d6 pick top 3 - reroll 1's) and ended up with 17,16,16,15,14,12. Following the order that stats are listed in, I was thinking Dex, Wis, Cha, Int, Con, Str. We're starting at level 5, with the gold that the PF core book says we start with, 10,500 gp i think. Any ideas on changing stats, skills to put heavy amounts into, feats, weapons, armor, gear? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advanced. EDIT: This is only my second charater ever, and starting at level 5 leaves to many options open, hence the asking for suggestions. I was also thinking of making him some sort of sniper that is far away from the thick fighting. So long range emphasis on feats/weapons/gear ![]()
So this is my first time playing, so bear with me. I started a campaign out as a fighter, got him up to lvl 7 so I had the two attacks. On level 8, I took a level in the stalwart defender class. So for the the figter lvl 7, I had a BAB of +7/+2, then the stalwart defender has a +1. So does the +1 from stalwart defender only apply to the first attack or would it apply to the second one as well? Thanks! |
