Mavaro makes for the Guard Tower, despite his common sense nagging him to avoid all the banditry that occurs there. He begins by discovering a Potion of Ghostly Form that intrigues him.

Intelligence 4: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

It becomes the second potion that slips through his fingers. Searching his belongings for a clean pair of gloves, he calls upon his Blessing of the Samurai 3 to continue the search, and comes across a Luckstone. This is certainly the most interesting trinket he's found so far. He focuses inward and dismisses Possession to raise his awareness. recharge Possession, then place it on top of deck to boost Wisdom

Wisdom 5: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Cursing Bastet and his infernal fortune, Mavaro rests. d2 to end

Mavaro hears a commotion in the direction of the Farmhouse and heads that way. Discovering a Wand of Shield, he is fascinated by its potential. Mind Thrust on top

Arcane 7: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The wand chooses the magus, and he adds it to his collection. Risking a Blessing of the Samurai 2, Mavaro forges ahead to find a Crow. He recalls the incantation for Possession by tucking away the Wand of Shield. recharging Wand of Shield to place Possession on top for the Wisdom check

Wisdom 5: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Upon convincing the Crow of his intentions, it flies to perch on his left arm. Mavaro unceremoniously throttles it with his right, using the bird's entrails to further investigate. burying Crow per Farmhouse text He discovers a Potion of Hiding.

Just as he closes his hand around the vial, it slips from his grasp. He wonders if he can pick up the pieces. d2 to end

Seeing his "master plan" come to fruition, Mavaro nods in approval and heads off to the Garrison to search for more trinkets. A Zombie greets him, and he raises The Missing Eye as reply. no other characters at location to also encounter non-henchman/villain monster. Blessing of Samurai 3 on top of deck.

Combat 9: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4) + 3 = 12

Dispatching the Zombie quickly, Mavaro forges ahead with his Compass, discovering another Poison Trap. Thankfully the Blessing of the Samurai 3 reminds him of his Dexterity.

Dexterity 5: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

The Poison Trap clicks audibly after being disarmed, just as a Bandit ambushes Mavaro. He was expecting more treachery, and prepares to swing The Missing Eye once more. BTE recharging Blood Periapt

Combat 10: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 2) + 3 = 11

The Bandit falls, and closes the Garrison, leaving behind its weapons and armor for plunder. Mavaro inhales with a satisfied grin and rests. d2 to end

Finding himself at Junk Beach, Mavaro engages the first Goblin Raider, but not before the goblin's surprise...

Goblin Shenanigans: 1d6 ⇒ 3 AYA move to a random other location, except I can't because Junk Beach is still open

Mavaro focuses on a weapon he can use, and his trusty sword presents itself. recharge Possession to put The Missing Eye on top of deck He then brings his clenched fist swiftly into the Goblin's skull, enhancing his attack with Fan of Flames.

Combat 8: 1d8 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + (3) + 2 = 7

Arcane 7 to recharge: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

The Goblin Raider looks around to steal an item or weapon, but none are to be found. discarding Psychokineticist as 1 Combat Damage, no items or weapons in discard pile to bury if undefeated. Goblin Raider shuffles in.

Feeling flustered, Mavaro arms himself and collects his thoughts. draw 3 to end

Mavaro wearily joins the search at the Glassworks, and discovers a Codex. He focuses inward and attempts to decipher the tome with his Knowledge.

Mavaro wades into a Rat Swarm and dishes out some indiscriminate punishment with The Missing Eye. recharging Blessing of the Samurai 3 to put it on top

The Banner pushes Mavaro's result to its needed overkill of the Rat Swarm. He uses the Elemental Ascetic to forge ahead, finding a Trapped Passageway. Using the Thieves' Tools he previously acquired, he disables the Passageway, and continues on to find a Treasure Map.

He can make neither head nor tails of the Map. He attempts to close the location by summoning a Bandit henchmen, who nicks Mavaro's Helpful Haversack recharging it BYA

Mavaro's run of incidental skulduggery continues as he comes across a Burglar. He asks the Elemental Ascetic for advice, before offering the Burglar a hastily scribed scroll of Mind Thrust. recharging Elemental Asectic, then place it on top of deck; also burying Mind Thrust to add 5 to check

Diplomacy 11: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

The Burglar runs off, stealing Mavaro's Spelldagger. Using a Blessing of the Samurai 1 to continue his search, Mavaro uncovers some Thieves' Tools. He reluctantly pockets the Sihedron Medallion to recall his last Blessing of the Samurai 3 for a boost to his Dexterity.

Continuing the search at the Waterfront, Mavaro encounters a Sage. He pockets the Blood Periapt to call forth the experience of the Elemental Ascetic, and relies on the Blessing of the Samurai 2 to convince the hard-hearted Sage. recharge Blood Periapt to put Elemental Ascetic on top of deck, disc Blessing to add a die

The Sage scoffs at Mavaro's pedantic argument and bustles back to his study. Mavaro is intrigued by the Sage's counterarguments and rests to contemplate his logic. draw 2 to end

Mavaro resumes his search at the Waterfront, discovering a Xulgath. putting Possession on top of deck before the encounter, then recharging Heavy Wooden Shield to put Blessing of Samurai 1 on top of deck He then brings The Missing Eye to bear.

Wiping his blade clean, Mavaro presses forward with his Compass, encountering a Sneak!

BYA Perception 8: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The Sneak snatches Mavaro's Blessing of the Samurai 3, and Mavaro once again swings The Missing Eye towards his foe.

Starting at the Waterfront, Mavaro tests the air and senses something unsavory... he digs in his Helpful Haversack to find the Sihedron Medallion for protection. His perception is true, as he finds a Yeth Hound snarling from around a blind corner. He plants his Banner, and recharges his Blood Periapt to recall the martial prowess of The Missing Eye. Missing Eye now on top of deck to gain Melee = Knowledge

BYA Wisdom 6: 1d8 ⇒ 1 difficulty increased by 1

Mavaro focuses on the Blessing of the Samurai before engaging the vile creature... recharging to add a die to Melee

Discovering a Siren, Mavaro changes tack and calls up his Compass to combat the Siren's song. He also calls upon his Blessing of the Samurai to focus his mind in defeating the creature. discard Haki Stick, search for Compass and put on top of deck

Outwitting the Siren fatigues Mavaro enough that he feels the need to rest.

Mavaro continues to plumb the depths of the Thassilonian Dungeon, and discovers the Pit of Malfeshnekor. It offers him a tantalizing choice, and with the Sihedron Medallion in hand, it seems almost worthwhile...

Mavaro's brand new Helpful Haversack presents a Blessing of the Samurai, that he takes gratefully. In attempting to acquire both spells he discovered before, he will need the help. First is Detect Evil...

With a well-recognized script, Mavaro easily acquires it, then uses a Blessing to proceed to Lightning Touch. He discards Possession to recall his Arcane skill, putting Mind Thrust on top.

Mavaro's half-remembered Arcane skill is insufficient to decipher the Lightning Touch. Forging ahead, he banishes Detect Evil to reveal a Warlord! He discards Banner to search his deck for his last Blessing of the Samurai and places it on top, recalling his Melee skill.

Of course, when I said Dilapidated Plaza in my last post, I meant Thassilonian Dungeon. Need more sleep.


Mavaro treads lightly into the Dilapidated Plaza, and comes across a Spyglass.

Hefting it with his off-hand, it seems serviceable. He takes a look, extending it to its limit...

Mavaro muses that perhaps this expedition was not a complete waste of time, as he fingers the embossed casing of this Sihedron Medallion. It intrigues him with possibilities, and suggests that Clinging Venom may be of more use in the future than Possession. Mavaro also feels as though the Medallion has also expanded his mind in a meaningful way (Intelligence +1).

Given the option, Mavaro heads for the Thassilonian Dungeon, as its plunder seems the most suited to his desires.

Mavaro curses for the lack of a club to beat the Ancient Skeleton down, and instead draws his old friend, The Missing Eye, to deal with this nuisance. (Recharging The Missing Eye to add 1d6 +1, Skeleton is +3 due to Slashing)

Combat 11: 1d8 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + (4, 4) + 2 = 14

As the animated bones fall, Mavaro is deeply disappointed in the lack of useful parts they provide.


Mavaro follows the path of carnage in the Red Raven's wake of justice to the Old Light, and proceeds to poke around, finding a scroll of Sleep. With Possession still on top of his deck, Mavaro improves his Intelligence with his Knowledge.

Intelligence 4: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Finding no immediate use for Sleep, Mavaro tosses it aside and looks amongst his tools for another clue...

After marveling at the sheer volume of pig's blood that the Raven's attack produced, Mavaro strides forward seeking a new discovery. His curiosity is rewarded, as he delicately removes a thin stoppered bottle from its nook amongst the straw and hay. Mavaro dismisses his Mind Thrust to search his deck for Possession, then places it on top of his deck to boost his Intelligence to equal his Knowledge skill.

Intelligence 6: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Having successfully added the Potion of Ruggedness to his arsenal as the obviously most interesting item here, Mavaro plops down cross-legged and becomes absorbed in the aged label, attempting to decipher its ancient text.

Mavaro takes a gander at the uncovered Battered Chest, and determines that it definitely needs to be brute forced open (thinking about his Portable Ram on top to gain 1d8+1 on Strength).

Strength 8: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Obviously this doesn't have any bone cogs in it, otherwise Mavaro would have been more motivated to open it. (Banish barrier)

Without a way to explore again, Mavaro discards Flight Arrows and draws Portable Ram, revealing a Heavy Wooden Shield on top of his deck.


Mavaro will begin searching in the Farmhouse for ancient bone cogs... or was it cone bogs...
