My PCs are currently blasting through the "missions" from the first book, like they are done with most of the "hard" missions and its not even the end of the second week yet. This might be because of my gm play style, but I feel like true "downtime" is hard to come by early in the campaign, and as a result, I've had to really think of things on the fly to artificially draw out some missions. I would definitely come with some things planned ahead of time, so you can pull these out if necessary.

I think someone mentioned before, but definitely key here is NPCs, I've been having to come up with some as we go along, some friendly, some not so friendly, the back matter of the book with the small descriptions of low key players really does help (my players really enjoy my rendition of The Newt for example).

Spoiler:

Hopefully as the rebellion gets going there will be more opportunity for them to have downtime/get to know the city and its people, but right now I feel like they are going way too fast for "in game time" heck Blosodriette is supposed to take 4-5 weeks? I don't think my players will even still be level 4 at this rate.

Having (finally) finished reading this one, a couple of questions come to mind.

How do people think Thrune should react when the PCs (quite rìghtly) choose not to come and receive giftsfrom him?

And, with regard to Hetamon Haace, the magic item creating tailor, don't you think he could do with a few ranks in Spellcraft and maybe craft (tailor)?

1. I would presume that this would be seen as a huge insult to Thrune, and he would not react pleasantly. My understanding was that at this point the PCs are still not openly opposing Thrune outright, so if they would want to save face as allies and protectors of the city, it might be more beneficial to go along with it. (I was planning on having one or two allies suggest this if my PCs decided to decline the gifts as well).

With that said, Thrune is not stupid. He knows that outright denouncing the Silver Ravens or PCs could be a bad PR move, and might instead try to bribe them (with increased reward). If they refuse a public acceptance of the reward, he might simply tell them of a location to pick up the reward.

2. Hetamon has "Craft Wondrous Item," so that kinda covers it, although in theory he probably would at least have Craft Tailor. If not spellcraft.

As a GM: Our group is much more focused on the covert operations of running a rebellion, prefering stealth and sabotage over parading in the streets.

My bard's been busy trying to get busy. We just kinda started, but at the protest he was mostly looking around for "hotties" and then quickly picked up "Tengu" once he found the sisters they managed to recruit. Our Sorcerer has been the one who's been acting more outspoken "Down with Thrune!" They both took Perform (dance) as their "profession." (I told my players everyone got an extra skill point to put into a craft/profession/perform as their "job" before they began the rebellion.)

Still early in the campaign, and I imagine my bard might get more active in time.
