This here is Lucky. Human Gunslinger with close ties to Khonnir Baine and the city of Torch.

Lucky nods.
"That's correct, Father! I had my fears, but attracting such a hero has certainly convinced me that we will be successful."

Lucky ensures he can sufficiently protect his gunpowder from the water, then gets ready to leave.

"Aye. We're going into the tunnels to get my father back. We need Brigh's blessing, Father."

Lucky gave Val his best devil may care grin before hugging her tight.
"Come on, now! Between me, Vera, and my new friends, I bet there's nothing we can't handle! We'll be back, soon. With dad."

Lucky stood, then looked at the others.
"I think a trip to Joram Kyte is in order, and then we'll be ready. Shall we?"

That tracks

"And was there anything you needed to tell me, Val?"

"Val? Did anything happen to make this robot thing start smashing stuff?"

Lucky begins to look around the Foundry for anything new that Khonnir may have brought in.

As he and Van examined the thing, Lucky engaged the others in conversation.
"I'm glad there was only one of these things. Vera here packs a heck of a punch but she takes a while to reload. I would've been a sitting duck of it had had a friend."

Lucky put on a smile for Val.
"Hey, no kid of Khonnir Baine is going to be a bad host, right? And trust me...you're never to old to cry. Remember a couple of weeks ago when that bard was in the bar? And after a couple of ales, he played The Lay of Lynleera Whisperwind? And I cried because it was too beautiful?"
He nodded over to the others.
"Well...welcome to my home, I guess! Let's take a look at this thing."

Taking Val's hand to reassure her, Lucky headed in to take a closer look at what he had shot.

Lucky kneels down and throws his arms around the girl, stroking her hair.
"It's okay. You didn't do anything wrong. Dad's...well, I'm going to go find him with my new friends here, okay? I think he ran into a bit of trouble in the caves, but I'm sure he's fine. Probably just trying to figure out some puzzle or something. What is that thing though? Did he bring it into the shop?"

Lucky moves to see through the window, drawing a bead on...something. He'd never seen it before.
"Val! Hide!"
Then Lucky fired...

Gotcha. Do I have line of sight to the thing through the windows?

Is the door open? If so I should have line of sight, yes?

Lucky unholsters Vera and loads a round before getting ready to charge through the door.

Foundry, here!

"Good to meet you, Trina. My friends call me Lucky, and I'd be happy to call you friend. Val's...sort of a little sister to me, so I'm kind of protective. Khonnir took me in and raised me after...well, he's like a father to me. So I'm highly motivated to get all the information and tools we need and get this done, so please, forgive me if I'm a little hasty right now. I've got a pretty large personal stake in this."

Lucky's frowned, but nodded.
"You're right. Just...just tread carefully with Val, okay? I don't want her any more upset than she has to be."

Lucky grimaced. Val was sure to not be taking this well, and no surprises there.
"Aye. I'll head out straight away. I don't need to buy anything, but in case you all do, let's meet in an hour at the temple. I'll see you there. If anything else comes up, let me know."
With that, Lucky headed off to Khonnir's foundry to meet with Val.

Not much escaped Lucky. That clipped reference to a father hit way too close to home at the moment. He'd have to remember to have a talk with Hitomi soon. Seems like the two of them might have a bit more in common than either would wish.
"If the rest agree, I'm ready to leave right away. I have everything I need already", he said, patting Vera.

"I can't speak for the rest. But I'm in. The gold is just the icing. No way in all the Hells I'd leave Khonnir to die in the caves. And even if our new friends here aren't super altruistic, that's a pretty tidy sum. What do you say, gang?"

Also, if anyone is curious, Lucky's real name is pronounced "She-uh-hawn".

"True enough. Thought there may have been something you weren't telling the public as a whole. Been hearing some weird stuff lately. Something about attacks and huge indents near the farms?"

Lucky gave Kierth a weak smile and offered thanks for his kind words.

When brought in front of Dolga, Lucky nodded his agreement.
"I'm not going to rest until I can get Khonnir back. What information do you have for us?"

Lucky nodded at Tristina.
"Khonnir has been like a father to me. There's no way I'm going to let him be lost like this!"

Lucky spied Hitomi in the crowd. She and her father had spoken with Khonnir many times, so Lucky moved over, waving in greeting.
"Hitomi! I didn't expect to see you here. Are you hoping to become part of a search party?"

Lucky is clearly nervous. He spends his time waiting working out his nerves by performing some maintenance on Vera, looking for a friendly face.

I was just being silly, I don't think Binary is an actual in game language. But now I kind of want it to be...

Fair enough. Then...whatever you want? Binary?

Hallit is also recommended in the PG. other than that I usually like to go for the "monstrous" languages; abyssal, infernal, Aklo and so forth. I like being able to know what the bad guys are saying

He's never without Vera, his gun.
He doesn't mind when people he know well call him Lucky, but he's slightly annoyed that the name has caught on with acquaintances. His penchant for winning at cards has led strangers to clapping him on the back and praising his fortune, something he chafes at, though he takes pains to hide it.
He's the adopted son of Khonnir Blaine. He's never talked about his biological family. He's very protective of Val.
Lucky is wise beyond his years, and tends to be slow to action, preferring to consider all angles of a problem.
