"Lucky" Siodhachan Mac Tiernan |
I'd happily have ties with any of you guys, by the by. What you'd know about Lucky;
He's never without Vera, his gun.
He doesn't mind when people he know well call him Lucky, but he's slightly annoyed that the name has caught on with acquaintances. His penchant for winning at cards has led strangers to clapping him on the back and praising his fortune, something he chafes at, though he takes pains to hide it.
He's the adopted son of Khonnir Blaine. He's never talked about his biological family. He's very protective of Val.
Lucky is wise beyond his years, and tends to be slow to action, preferring to consider all angles of a problem.
Van, who goes forth alone |
Things locals know about Van.
He "T͕alk̯ṣ̀ ͓̠͟f̵̰̝̫͙̟̫u̡̹͍n͏n͕̟̺y̟̠ͅ." He gets a certain amount of slack for it because he is both obviously not quite right in the head & probably some kind of mage...
Everyone knows he can't stand the Technic League, which is why no one is surprised that he is so hard to find whenever their 'tax collectors' come through town.
For all that he can't stand them, only the Technic League & a very few others can suss out recovered technology better than he can.
As long as you aren't Technic League, and you aren't trying to scam him, he will happily give you the shirt off his back if you need it.
He's probably somewhat protective of Alany, depending on how well known she is in town. Among other things, this means he has likely been trying to help her 'understand' humanity. I.E.: if she ever wants to pick up the Empathy Feat, he helps her along.
On a related note, Alany, who is your 'alter ego'?
Edit: Word of warning, guys. I just looked over all of us & we have no real healing magic. I have Stabilize, but that's it. Alany & I each took the Android feat that lets us use our Nanite Surge ability as a Self-healing effect & I also can do that with one of my other spells, but on the whole, we will need to be careful for at least the first level or so...
Hitomi Tanakai |
Hitomi and her father might have been decently known about the town, While working on his masterpeice they took other commissions and she helped out on them or did them herself. She is very quiet though, speaking politely and calmly. Word on the street is perhaps that you should not offend her or cross her. She does not believe in the proverbial eye for an eye, she believes in eye for your eyes, possibly your nose part of your tongue and your ears. metaphorically of course.
Despite her small stature it is clear she is very strong, and will no doubt be in the thick of any fight we get into.
I had noted the lack of a pure healer as well,
Van, who goes forth alone |
I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying we will need to act accordingly, be willing to retreat if/when fights go against us, that sort of thing.
Edit: Huh, I just realized I have three more skill points to use...
For that matter, I should know more languages than I have down as well.
Okay, I am going to put skill points into Linguistics, Heal & Appraise, since those are all Psychic skill unlocks; I will also know Orc (since the IG player's guide recommends it) & Elf (since we have an Elf in the party & Kyonin isn't that far away). I have two more Languages, suggestions?
Van, who goes forth alone |
I already have Hallit. The others... While they probably would be nice if we run into them, just don't seem like languages I would have picked up just scrounging around in Numeria...
DM Alistair |
Sorry for the wait everyone, I posted the game choices and opened the threads and, well, kinda passed out. Anyway, I'm just waiting for Alany to post and we can start this up soon. As for people knowing others, since you all have ties to Torch, I'm sure you all have interacted at least a little and at least know about each other.
You don't have to worry about Healing too much, I have plans for that to make it not as big an issue.
DM Alistair |
I would like to mention that, for ease of gameplay, I plan on simply awarding you all levels at certain thresholds or key events during the course of the game, and I will also roll everyone's initiative scores to help move the game along.
Again, if you ever have questions, feel free to ask either here in the Discussion or shoot me a PM if you wish to be more discreet.
Alany |
The Ebon Pixie hides in the night, waiting for that one person to slip up. To make that mistake of stealing that woman's purse. Then she swoops in, like an eagle, soaring through the night, snatching that purse right back and returning it to the fair maiden who may or may not be an arch enemy in the future.
Van, who goes forth alone |
By the way, what has the Ebon Pixie been doing in Torch? Has (s)he been a thorn in the side of the Technic League, bane of the local thieves guild, defender against overly frisky wildlife? These are the sorts of questions your co-players (or at least me) have about her/him/it.
You also might consider making another alias specifically for Ebon Pixie, considering they are a separate character in some ways, I.E.: looks/sound completely different, have a different alignment, don't have access to the social aspects that Alany has, etc...
I acknowledge that may be an increase in complexity greater than you or DM Alistair really wanted to deal with, but it is something to consider.
Unrelated to that, how long has it been since the flame went out? I'm guessing it happened since the last time the Technic League 'representative' came through, but are we talking days, weeks, or months? The fact that there have been five different teams that have gone in implies it has been more than a week & possibly/(probably?) closer to a month or more...
Alany |
Defender of the people, retrieving stolen coin purses and things like that. She usually keeps out of people's hairs when it comes to the Techic League but she doesn't see them as a threat to the greater good. What she does see as a threat is those damn thieves and the bandits on the road. Along with any murderer who shows their face.
DM Alistair |
Alany and I will be discussing things further for character development. For now, everyone knows that the little sprite (Sorry, I can't pass up a fey joke XD) has been mostly operating in the shadows and stopping petty crimes. There are rumors about who they are but no one can pin it down to who or even if the person is a person since they appear and disappear so quickly.
Van, who goes forth alone |
As an aside, today is my Son & only child's fifteenth birthday. In the unfortunately unlikely event that we break out in massive RP, that is why I am missing it.
Van, who goes forth alone |
Also, Trina asks, do you dream of electric sheep?
As Androids do not sleep, the answer is most likely no.
And Van would most definitely pass a Voight-Kampff test...Van, who goes forth alone |
If by fast-forward, you mean all the PC's feel we have pretty much done what we need to here & we don't necessarily need to narrate the walk from here to there, sure.
I have one IC post to make first.
Edit: The fact that Siodhachan knows Androffan, but has not yet responded to any of Van or Alany's statements is rather amusing to me. Particularly considering that quite a bit of what they are saying will seem nonsensical to him.
DM Alistair |
Flu bug didn't get me down, my birthday did...
Oh wait! All it did was greatly distract me and my fiancee (and friends and family and one unlucky coworker) all weekend!
Hint: Never party hard unless you plan to party hard. Or play board games really late into the night when you have to be up super early to drive 5 hours round trip for a doctor's (well, specialist) appointment! Yay!
Sorry I missed the last few days, as the above states (indirectly I guess), last few days was spent mostly hanging with friends and family (and watching movies and playing games with said people) and dang I lost track of time MAJORLY.
Did see Deadpool finally though so there is that.
Anyway, checking on thread now and please no more "happy birthdays" (one can only take a ten hour loop of it so long in the background...)

Well, I was, but then I read this...
Anyway, checking on thread now and please no more "happy birthdays" (one can only take a ten hour loop of it so long in the background...)
So I'll just say, 'well done' & leave it at that.
