Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"It is my pleasure to meet you, Mayor Awasuul," Lucky says as he approaches the mayor with a deep bow, "and it is my very-very-great honour to act as envoy of the reputable Pathfinder Society here today. Though perhaps, I should start by telling you something about myself."

The halfling clears his throat, and with a disguised wave of his hand, his lute begins strumming a gentle ambient tune.

"My name is Lucky Waterfield. My owners named me that because they found me in a flooded plain, and because they assumed all halflings are lucky-ssu. Owners I say, and not masters, because though they owned my freedom, they never had my loyalty-ssu. I was raised a slave in Cheliax, and after earning my freedom, I joined the Pathfinder Society to help others earn theirs - never to subjugate anyone to some foreign authority-ssu."

I'll just have to hope Diplomacy works I guess? Not sure what to roll otherwise.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Sounds a lot like the system from the 1e scenario Bid for Alabastrine, if anyone played that one.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Ah, blasted foxes. Better hope they don't carry rabies.

With the spiders gone, Lucky focuses on bringing down the red fox right in front of him.

Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 = 23, Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6

He then conjures up a shield of force to protect him in case the fox goes for his throat next.

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

As soon as Lucky realizes what's happening, his lute begins strumming a familiar tune on itself, a hearty halfling folk song.

"Pathfinders, let's show them we can hold our own and protect those in need!"

Performance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

He follows that up by channeling his magic into a large pebble or loose piece of pavement, which he send flying at the yellow spider.

Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 = 23, Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Ah--do forgive us, my lady-ssu!" Lucky clasps his hands together and gestures with a quick bow toward the old woman. "I assure you, our motives are pure as can be-ssu! We are here to admire and study your land, so that people back in Avistan will learn not to treat it as some mysterious uncharted territory waiting to be claimed. It is a goal very-very-beneficial to both of our peoples, should you gracefully provide us your hospitality-ssu!"

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

A tanned halfling with a shaggy mess of black hair stumbles into the gathering. Though turned around and possibly a little hungover, the halfling still carries himself with a certain loveable charm. Stopping and straightening himself, he bows before the group.

"Sorry to keep everyone waitin'; they call me "Lucky" Lucky Waterfield, an entertainer, but it seems my luck's run out this time. Maybe after tonight I'll finally learn not to sample every inn in the city before a mission," he adds with a bratty grin.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Hey there, so sorry for the delay! I forgot to dot so I missed the start of game day. I am still interested in playing, if you'll have me.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Your assassin's down, and you're next, pal. Lay down your arms or prepare to say 'hi' to Pharasma-ssu," Lucky cries as he quickly draws and fires his bow at Barralbus. Though his aim isn't great, the halfling hopes that his words will be enough to shake the enemy and help his allies get the win.

Intimidate to demoralize: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Shortbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10, Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

One action to demoralize, one action to interact (draw a weapon), one action to strike.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Comin' right up," Lucky interweaves into his music. "That's exhausted my healin' energy for today, so try not to get yourself killed after this one, yeah-ssu?"

Soothe on Voron: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

As the healing spell takes effect, Lucky advances right behind the wizard, prepared to fire an arrow at the assassin.

Two actions to cast soothe, one action to stride.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Man, I cannot apologize enough for my absence! I just lost myself in that nasty work-errand-sleep cycle, I can't even tell for how long I neglected to check Paizo. I'll do my best to keep up from now on, but I'm sure I'll need to recalibrate a bit after this game...

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Agreed.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Well, I for sure ain't gonna miss an opportunity to help a misfit in need, but smugglin' a Stone Giant outta town sounds like a pretty heavy task. We could take you by boat, but I'm not sure just how much extra space we'd have... and we'd have to find another way to get everyone else past the guards, though the barrels do sound like a pretty good idea-ssu. I could try to cast a command spell on the guards, but eh, that's probably a bit too dangerous-ssu."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Lucky joins his allies in flipping through the archaic library as they wait for Daffrid to return with their payment. Though the contents of the books speak little to him, he notices a seemingly out-of-place piece of paper in one of the tomes; a scroll of remove disease.

"Hey, won't you look at that. This scroll contains a spell that can remove diseases-ssu. Daffrid wouldn't mind if we took it right? As additional payment... I know a girl that could use this-ssu."

Hey, just dropping in to say Passover prep is at full throttle and I might not be able to post until after the Seder on Saturday. Please bot me as necessary.

"We'll have to make do, then." With a quick hop, Lucky seats himself on top of the desk, legs hanging lazily to his side. He flips the document pointed out to him by Voron and raises an eyebrow.

"So, is this how it went down; you're minding your merry business when you accidentally catch wind of a guard who cheated Lady Belimarius out of a pretty penny, and now the criminal wants you outta the picture. Do I have that right?", Lucky grins at the accountant with a wink. "Well, I happen to know a guy who can get you outta the picture, outta town, where no dangerous mistakes like these can happen. You understand where I'm going with this, yeah-ssu?"

Deception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

...this might be a good place to spend my hero point.

Deception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Lucky leans against Themolin's wooden desk, barely reaching to hold some towers of paper to prevent them from falling over. He throws a look over his shoulder once the receptionist leaves, making sure the door is closed behind them.

"Yeah, we made an appointment. "Lucky" Lucky Waterfield, my very-very-pleasure to meet you-ssu. Before we dive deeper into the details, let me just make sure... this room is private and secure, yes-ssu? The deal we're gonna discuss, it's for your ears only-ssu."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Lucky's sleep is restless, waking up several times to look around the room and peek out of a window. Despite his conviction in Guaril's good intentions, the city of Xin-Edasseril makes the halfling very much uncomfortable.

"I dunno; we should go see Themolin as soon as possible. Don't wanna leave the big shot waiting, and his coin could prove useful for us-ssu."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

RIP Vurna, she will be missed.

Lucky eyes Marigold for a moment, not sure if she was taking a stab at him or merely referring to him by coincidence.

"Right, let's not push our luck. We got a good amount of info today, and tomorrow's a new day. A whole lot to do, but we'll have more valuable time."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Looks like some kind of code... I'm sure I recognize Fitch's name in this-ssu. Hold on, let's try and crack it."

Lore (underworld) +5

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Well, this is... concerning, I'd say. No sign of any recent use-ssu. Just what kinda messed up stuff is that?", the halfling mutters as he steps up to inspect the graffiti closer.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"These Emerald Guards are starting to get on my nerves-ssu," Lucky grunts out of earshot. "Show me this paper, show me that permit, can't a halfling travel around in peace-ssu?"

In front of Fitch's apartment, Lucky looks around at the boarded windows and shattered flower pot, his expression a mixture of frustration and worry.

"Looks like Fitch was trying to get someone here. Can only hope the guards weren't alerted and decided to raid the place-ssu." He walks up to the door, and mutters into the crack, "I dunno if you're here to hear me, but if you are, we're here from your uncle about your slippers-ssu. Pretty important stuff."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

@Brillock - Well yes, it was kinda framed like bribing people is the norm around here and is expected. But also, GM didn't say "this is a bad idea", just "are you sure you want to do this?"... take that as you will ;)

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Lucky silently mouths the names of Guaril's clients a few times, then hums for a bit as he reaches a decision.

"Themolin, the accountant," he says. "Sounds like the clock is tickin' with that guy-ssu. Don't wanna miss 'em."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Hey there," Lucky yells back after making sure that the area is clear. "We're just a few tired travelers who'd just arrived in town, lookin' for a drink and a meal to get us settled in, and we've got some coin to back that up. Why not open up and let us rest our feet for a minute?"

If necessary, Deception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"I'm sure I'll find no reason to draw my weapons in the first place-ssu," Lucky smiles at the guards. "Now let's go, fast, before you make me sick."

The halfling is clearly on edge as the party makes its way into Xin-Edasseril. He constantly looks around, jolting at every sound or sudden movement at the edge of his vision.

"Yeah. the Rockfish Inn sounds fine. I bet I can gather some good intel there... as long as won't be any guards breathing down my neck."

If we're taking the 2 hours to gather information, I'll attempt it too with my +7 diplomacy.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Ah, sorry! Wasn't getting notifications here for some reason.

"So our mission is to smuggle some lucky souls out of an evil tyrant's hellhole... heh, that's gonna look great on my résumé when I'm back with the Bellflower Network!"

The shaggy-haired halfling introduces himself as "Lucky" Lucky Waterfield. Though he is well armed, with a rapier and a whip on opposite sides of his waist, it seems that his tool of choice is the lute stored in an ornate bag on his back.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Downloading the chronicle worked fine for me, and everything looks correct. Thank you very much for the game, GM and everyone else! I'm looking forward to playing with y'all again someday.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

With his protective magic in place, Lucky picks a suitable discarded object with a sharp edge and wills it to hurl itself at the large tree, to amplify Dyner's flames.

Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 slashing, or bludgeoning if slashing is unavailable.

Two actions to cast telekinetic projectile, one action to sustain forbidding ward.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Take care, Ulf. Don't wanna get all sticky from the thing's sap."

Lucky drums a solid beat on the body of his Lute as wisps of force start circling the Ulfen fighter, creating a protective ward that aligns itself with the large, lumbering tree as well as a smaller shield to protect himself.

Two actions to cast forbidding ward on Ulf (protecting against the large tree) and one action to cast shield on myself.

There's a slight possibility Lucky won't be available by the start of the game day, in which case I'll bring Kromm von Lucius (human barbarian 1).

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Hey GM! Just wondering, how close are we to the end of the adventure? Gotta know if I can sign Lucky up for the Gameday starting February 16th.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Lucky watches with some suspicion as the fox-person interacts with the party, but unwinds a bit when things seem to go well and the fox returns all the stolen items to the group. His relief is short lived, and he looks around at the moving trees, annoyed.

"Small one looks like one of the Pine Brutes we fought back in the village."

He attempts to figure out just what kind of enemy the larger tree is while scanning the ground for a suitably sharp stone to hurl at the Pine and raising a magical shield, in case the enemy approaches.

Recall Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

One action to Recall Knowledge, one action to cast shield. Can't think of a use for my third action.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Carefully and kindly-ssu?", Lucky suggests with a shrug. "He doesn't seem malicious or nothin'. More like... confused."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Lucky is relieved to see the orange construct crumble relatively easily. Bolstered by the information, he takes a break from his composition and strums a brief ethereal melody that causes a nearby pebble to gently soar into the air before flinging itself at a red statue.

Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 bludgeoning

One action to Stride, two actions to cast Telekinetic Projectile.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Lucky quickly moves up to see what the all the ruckus is about. Confronted with a few mean-looking constructs, the halfling pulls out his lute and strums a few chromatically ascending introduction chords before breaking into an inspiring, energetic gigue.

"Let the rhythm instruct your motions-ssu!"

Performance (lingering composition): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

2 actions to Stride, one free action to unsuccessfully cast lingering composition, and one action to cast inspire courage, granting all allies within 60 ft. a +1 status bonus to attack rolls, damage rolls, and saves against fear effects for 1 round (could've come in handy before the flat rolls, but it is what it is.)

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Nature: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

"I can't say I know for sure 'bout this one, but Venture-Captain Li did mention benevolent kami we can share our experiences wi-ssu. Isn't this the occasion we've been practicing A Midwinter Dragon's Dream for?", Lucky grins at the Commedienne.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Though his allies seem to already be doing a good job ganging up on the remaining tree, Lucky resolves to help by launching another sharp projectile at it.

"I know, right, Pepper? I was also looking forward to exploding pinecones-ssu."

Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10, Damage (piercing): 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

However, it certainly is not Lucky's day. He sighs and mutters a few more magic words, summoning a shield of force in front of him.

Taking two actions to cast telekinetic projectile and one to cast shield. I'll use my reaction to Shield Block if it somehow comes to it.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"I think I've heard of these before; they're called pine brutes-ssu. We should try burning them or piercing their tough barks, but watch out for the explosive pinecones they can throw."

Seeing the brutes approach, Lucky retreats toward the back lines of the party. As he does, he begins casting a spell, flinging a stray arrowhead at the nearest purple enemy.

Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10, Damage (piering): 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

One action to Stride and two to cast telekinetic projectile.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

For what it's worth, I too understand Japanese, so try not to hide any shocking spoilers in there ;)

On to other matters, I've got some work-related travelling to do today. I should be back home tonight, but I might be too tired to post by then, so if I don't act within 24 hours, please bot me.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Seeing the tree-folk march into town, Lucky rushes forward to a defensive formation with his allies. Though he is still not prepared to cast a spell or draw his bow, the bard scours his memory for any mention of moving trees like the ones before him.

Taking two actions to Stride up to Pepper and one to Recall Knowledge using my +1 Nature skill. I couldn't find whether the Recall Knowledge check is open or secret, but it certainly sounds like it should be secret, so I'll let the GM roll it for me this time. If this is wrong, please correct me!

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Hoping to quickly diffuse the situation, Lucky lays down his weapons and puts one hand on his heart and another on his mouth, hoping to indicate that he wants to speak.

Deception (Communicate non-verbally): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 My Diplomacy modifier is the same, if you rule that is the skill I should use here. Or maybe Nature, Survival, and Hunting Lore are the only skills we can use to indicate friendliness?

When (and if) the townsfolk seem to relax, he places two fingers over his mouth, as if shushing someone, while making a walking motions with two fingers of his other hand; he then mimics a person driving a carriage, and points to a Glyph of the Open Road if any of the Pathfinders display one prominently; and finally, places a finger under his eye and raises a single eyebrow sharply, cocking his head, hoping that a face of puzzlement translates well between cultures.

Trying to convey the message, "have you seen other people who don't speak your language displaying the Glyph of the Open Road riding a caravan?"

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"I... get the feeling we aren't really wanted here," Lucky speaks quietly as he takes the environment in. He grins at the children, but makes sure not to make any prominent gesture that might not be understood correctly by a foreign culture. "But at least, it seems they are not hostile to us-ssu. We could attempt to ask them whether or not our Pathfinder caravan passed through-ssu; maybe through drawing or some sort of sign language."

If Lynn approaches the children, the halfling will follow her not too far behind, just to be safe.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"From what I've managed to pick up in Sakakabe," the bard says as he inspects the sign, "that little circular glyph in the middle is pronounced no-ssu-- no, I mean. As for the rest..." he rubs the back of his head, looking at the rest of the group, "I still have a lot to learn."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

Lucky happily plays along to Dyner's cooking, strumming ethereal, comforting chords and sometimes breaking into a low nostalgic hum or jovial whistle. He occasionally asks to try a little of whatever she's making, offering his own suggestions for additions to the recipe.

"I'm not a chef, though-ssu," he always appends.

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Of cours-ssu," Lucky sits down, folding his arms seriously. "We are Pathfinders, it is our sacred duty to cooperate. Is there anything you can tell us about the assignment you wish us to complete? Where, doing what, have our Pathfinder allies-ssu... fallen?"

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"I met this pleasant young woman yesterday, Kaijitsu-san I think it was-ssu," the bard pipes in as he carefully pours a cup of green tea for each of the assembled Pathfinders. "She invited me to come and see how her family makes special mochi for the New Year's ceremony-ssu. Maybe when we've finished this assignment we can go and visit them."

Lucky cradles his cup between his two hands and takes a sip of the piping-hot tea.

"Quite exciting, waiting to find out what my first real mission will be-ssu."

Radiant Oath

Male Halfling Bard 2 (HP: 24/24) (AC:17 Fort: +5 Ref: +7 Will: +7) (Perc: +7)

"Lucky" Lucky Waterfield is a stout halfling, his tanned skin rough and thick and his wild black mane growing in every conceivable direction. His image ends up giving him a rugged charm more than anything, and he carries himself with pride. Though he usually goes unarmored, wearing only a comfortable jacket of Chelish design, an arsenal of weapons - a rapier on one side of the waist, a whip wrapped around the other, and a bow slung over the back - serve to threaten potential enemies of the little man, though the lute in the bag on his shoulder is his primary tool both in battle and outside of it.

Being a member of the Bellflower Network, the halfling has a penchant for making contacts, and he spends his days in Sakakabe advertising the Pathfinder Society to potential allies as both a valuable business partner and a reliable mercenary company. He tries to make as many acquaintances as possible in places high and low, perhaps learning a few key phrases in Tian-Min to present himself more amicably, making sure to spend the nights in bars and inns where he can spread some stories about the Society's glorious deeds.

"Ohayou gozaimas-ssu," Lucky greets Amara Li with a bow as he arrives at the Kiniro Kyomai. "Good to you see you again, Venture-Captain Li-ssu. Got an interesting assignment for us, is it?"
