With Merten's grappling tentacles gone, Luca becomes a whirlwind in an attempt to disperse Stroon's acid fog.

GM:
If it seems that the fog is dispersing, Luca will move through b5-h5, b6-h6, and d7, e7, using the +30' move from BoF. If it doesn't disperse, Luca will hover over Merten's pit.

Mechanically, Luca is delaying until after Merten's turn.

Let them go Merten. If they try any deceptions, we will slay them in truth.

Luca's voice rings through every living mind in the room.

reflex save: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 = 19 +1 comes from +2 to Dex from Elemental Body. Also, as a familiar, Luca has improved evasion and takes no damage on a successful saving throw.

Sorry, I could have sworn I posted his action.

Before Merten moves on, Luca fishes a scroll from off his belt and unfurling it, reads the glyphs off the parchment. As he chants, his form becomes misty and translucent, and by the time he is done, the faerie dragon seems to have transformed into thin air!

GM:
Using scroll of elemental body to turn into a small air elemental. Total concealment from Stroon's Acid Fog means no AoO is provoked. As a heads up, Luca's going to use the whirlwind ability next round to try to disperse the Acid Fog, or at least blow it onto Stroon and Griselle. Not sure if that will work or not, but seems reasonable, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Luca grabs onto Merten and Malaswyn, beaming his thoughts to the two of them, and Kriger as well. Everyone hold on, Merten's about to take us for a ride! Unsure if his telepathy will reach Kalsgrim through the spell-wall, he nonetheless tries to communicate with the Lord. Clear a space your eminence! The cavalry is on its way!

Luca casts grease, covering Raveneau's clothing in a thin slick of slime.

I know it's not a good look for you, Master Delahaye, but I'm sure you'll agree it's better to be slippery during sticky situations! Luca's high-pitched laughter fills the room, as the tiny dragon is obviously way too amused by his own jape.

+10 circumstance to Escape Artist checks and CMD

Luca's sibilant whisper fills the party's minds again. Everyone stay back, that old man is no apprentice and Merten's about to do something very dangerous. Raveneau, if you have a way to get out of there, be ready to use it! The tiny dragon grabs on to Merten's shoulder and prepares to take a ride.

Luca's in Merten's square. Black Tentacles incoming.

For his own part, Luca uncoiled from Merten's shoulder and scampered down the mage's back, keeping watch on the alcove and stairs behind the party.

Luca's thought voice blooms in the minds of the members of the party. Merten says there are four invisible guards in front of the throne. They have longspears pointed at us. They're not in reach at the moment, but could be quite easily. Also, I'm pretty sure that the lady in red and black is Griselle.

In response to Kalsgrim's question, Luca's cheery, sibilant mental voice reaches the rest of the group. He saw Griselle, his lost lady love. Despite a warning glare from Merten, the faerie dragon continues on blithely. She looks different, strange, but it's definitely her. You can always tell from the eyes, you know. In any event, he doesn't know how dangerous she is, and given that he's quite good at knowing things he's meant not to know, you have to assume that she's equally good at hiding things. So, dangerous, yes, but how? Unknown.

Luca has a look as well.

perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Luca's voice sounds silently in your heads. Merten's going to slow them down; the rest of you should be able to make short work of them. Once he casts his spell, we'll all be visible again.

Luca hovers well above the door, ready to lend aid should it become necessary.

Luca lowers his dancing lights to the level of the upper crack in the normal door, hopefully illuminating what lies beyond, then waits for Merten's eye to return, and for the others to take whatever positions they may for the coming fray.

Luca joins the others in the stealthy descent.

stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20

Luca flutters up next to the page and, using prestidigitation begins to return to spilled wine and goblet to the tray. Hi, I'm Luca. he chirps with a toothy grin. Maybe we can keep you out of the giant's belly today.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Luca attempts to open the balcony door using mage hand.

But a sleeping guard, well, guards fall asleep all the time...

Luca grins a toothy grin at Raveneau. If he manages to fight off my spell, knock him off the battlements, yes?

For his part, Luca reads off Merten's scroll of haste. Merten, Raveneau, Kalsgrim, Malaswyn and Kriger feel arcane vitality coursing through them.

1 extra attack for a full attack action, so you archers get another shot if you want one. Also, +1 to attack, +1 dodge to AC, and +1 to reflex. All movement increases by 30'.

The tiny dragon then flies upward, surveying the area from a vantage point.

surprise round:
Use scroll of haste (CL 5)

round 1:
Fly 75' up and look around for the other guards.
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

Luca swoops down and grasps the scroll.

To be clear, the grease spell is on F & G, 11 & 12.

Luca casts grease DC 14 Reflex under the remaining Locust Demon's feet, and flies 90 ft. into the air above the fray.

perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Luca casts silent image and conjures forth 5 illusory Hound Archons before the demons. The dog-headed angels brandish their swords menacingly.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

sense motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Luca's thoughts push once more into the minds of Merten and the rest of the party.

This Aasimar's mind is extremely fragile. Tread lightly, and speak gently. The wrong thing could send him into a spiral of madness from which he might not recover.

The Shadow Demons are the ones who have possessed these crusaders! They're powerless in the sunlight! If you have magics of daylight, it will drive the demon from that crusader who still battles!

Once again, Luca's strange voice pulses through your mind, imparting knowledge and advice.

DM:

Does that sunlight powerlessness mean they can't cast spells in daylight, or just can't attack?

kn(planes): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Shadow demons! Luca's mental shout echoes through your minds, relayed by telepathy.

What does Luca know about these things?

Luca remains hidden, but keeps a sharp eye out for any hidden dangers.

perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

Luca pokes his head up above the rock where he has hidden and surveys the scene. Spying the warrior advancing across the platform, his toothy maw curls into a grin as he conjures a slick of oil under its feet.

Cast grease covering I&J 27 & 28, DC 14 Reflex or Prone. If succeeds on the Reflex save, DC 10 acrobatics to move at half speed, if fails by 5 or more, prone.

Staying low to the ground, Luca flies to one of the larger boulders and crouches behind it.

Double move to N 17.

stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

I could turn invisible, fly-sneak up to them, perhaps set an illusory screen before them, have a closer look, that sort of thing. They could be an illusion themselves, or perhaps sweet strong angels sent to protect us from the Wound.

The tiny dragon snorts after this last suggestion, in a tone that could reasonably be interpreted as sarcasm. His thoughts broadcast into the minds of the group, until his piping mental voice goes quiet once more.

The tiny dragon pumps his wings and flies up and around the group in a widening circle fifty feet above the ground.

The tiny dragon's thoughts pour into everyone's mind in a mock disappointed tone. No Balor's yet. Don't worry, when they show up, I won't spoil the surprise!

Hey Malcom, Pendin, try to push that one near you into the other one next to it. Boss is making a pit to keep them out of the fight.

Luca casts dancing lights, creating four magic torches above the statues.

Luca flits forward next to Malcom to get a good look for himself.

Luca also has darkvision and will relate what he sees to Aelaeron using his telepathy.

I'm pretty sure he just makes this stuff up as he goes...

Luca flutters around the room, inspecting the doors and the fallen warriors.

The little dragon casts mage hand and lifts the blanket. Once Pendin has left the room, he lowers the blanket onto the candle in front of the south door, cutting off the oxygen and snuffing it out.

Luca flies back to his master and keeps a wary lookout for threats.

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31

Luca uses his telepathy to relay the thoughts of the group all to each other so that none need to speak and give away their presence.

I don't see anything. Drake, Flynn, do either of you? Just think, you don't need to speak, I'll communicate your thoughts to the group.

Sure thing, Boss.

The little dragon dutifully wings over to the doors to the south, carefully examining the corridor, walls, ceiling and doors.

Perception: 10 + 14 = 24 take 10

Don't take it personal, Chiri. The boss, well he's kind of a slow learner sometimes...

Luca gives Chirinide an exaggerated wink, then flits over to Aelaeron's shoulder and proceeds to make biscuits with his retractable claws.

Luca wings over and taps Malcom on the head with the wand of protection from evil.

that should give you a new save at +2

Luca taps Aelaeron with the wand of protection from evil

Go get him, boss!

He's a tough guy, Boss. He can handle it

The butterfly-winged dragon uses the magic wand to scratch his hard to reach back scales.

Dragon boss, not deer. Draaagon...

Luca uses dancing lights to illuminate the aperture in the wall.

Oooh, I like him boss! He doesn't put up with any of your garbage either!

Luca channels power through the wand once more and casts Protection from Evil on Gelik before flying back to his master.

Wing-ed reptilians like cheese, right?

Reptile? Reptile! I am a Dragon you stinky human! See if I ever help you again! But, about that cheese, do you have any gruyere?

Luca grips the wand firmly in his talons and flies next Malcom (E 38) and casts Protection from Evil on the Shield warrior before closing his eyes tight to ward off the dreadful gaze of the bodaks.

(48 charges remaining)

Malcom is +2 deflection AC, +2 Saves vs. Evil critters
