When he is laid out on his back. Cade walks forward and stand over the lord and offers his hand....

Lord Kaijitsu swats Cade's hand away as he staggers to his feet. He mutters something incomprehensible (probably in Tian, though Cade can't really tell) as he stumbles out of the tavern.

He could have taken more offense at Cade's words but right now he has other things on his mind.

"That's it! I DISOWN YOU! Stay in this miserable little town and rot!"

Lord Kaijitsu turns and makes to head for the door.

Lord Kaijitsu will leave unless anyone wants to stop him.

"僕は君のお父さん!あなたは私に従うか、そうでなければ..."

Lord Kaijitsu reaches over and angrily grabs Ameiko by the upper arm.

"私はあなたが私たちの家族の名前を土地に残すことはありません!"

"駄々っ子!これで十分!" Lord Kaijitsu shouts back.

Lord Kaijitsu turns back to Ameiko.

"Now that's enough of this foolishness! Ameiko! Get your things! We're leaving! No more disobedience, or by Shelyn, I'll cut you out of my will!"

"...But you shall address me has Brother Dashtail, warpiest of Erastil."

"Brother rat-man then. You may be a priest, but you are hardly one of ours. Why don't you go back somewhere that you are wanted?"

Cade Goodbarrel wrote:
ohhh my...Did you just give me a compliment....Words coming from one of your standing brings much honor to my name....

Since you aren't trying to trick him, I suppose Diplomacy is the relevant roll.

"Mister Goodbarrel... you talk too much."

"The two of you miniature people seem to think that I have some kind of obligation to explain myself to you. I do not. I really couldn't care any less what your opinion is, or anyone else's for that matter. My mind is made up. You are welcome to stay here and see if your antics will protect the city a second time."

Neither of those diplomacy rolls were inspiring, really. (

Colvyn "Slick" Dashtail wrote:
"Your Lordness, might I suggest you take this conversation to a more private room upstairs."

"Not that it's any business of yours, rat-man, but if my daughter wishes our conversation to be understood by eavesdroppers then that is on her head."

Cade Goodbarrel wrote:

...I can only hope that you would be so kind as to grace one such as myself; of lower standing in the social hierarchy with the acceptance of my most heartfelt apology.

He keeps his smile on his face but after a few seconds he continues on.
I was wondering if you would be so kind as to explain to us of commoner blood, just how you came into possession of information that there is a goblin attack...

"Mister Goodbarrel, you have the infuriating habit of speaking in such a way as I can never tell if you are mocking me or not. As to this information, well, you were at the same meeting I was. Though it was hardly my idea to invite you. Had it been up to me you would not have been."

"Fine! But I've come to tell you. With the imminent danger of an attack by the goblin alliance, I've decided that we are returning to Magnimar. It will be safer there. So go and pack your things."

"I'm sure these... Sandpoint Six," he says with a sneer, "can handle the so-called goblin menace without us."

Lord Kaijitsu practically explodes at Aldern.

"Don't 'My dear fellow' me! Your insignificant title and your pathetic excuse for an estate do not entitle you to address me as any kind of an equal."

He turns on Ameiko again.

"私はこれを十分に持っていました!このように私を恥ずかしく思うのはどうですか?"

Tian-Min:
I've had enough of this! How dare you shame me like this!

Okay, guys. I'm going to run this as if people are speaking one at a time rather than talking over one another.

"Uh, dancing and having party. I'm surprised you couldn't tell."

"I was addressing my daughter, young lady, and not you," Lord Kaijitsu growls. "I can clearly see that my daughter is indeed cavorting with this... this... ... primitive."

Colvyn "Slick" Dashtail wrote:
"but sometimes, us commoners, like to dance and listen to fun music. "

"I care not a whit what commoners care to do. But my daughter is no commoner. And here she is, acting like some Varisian tavern wench!"

Floredana Mandulescu wrote:
"...but it would be an honor if you would join us! We have a freshly roasted boar that we provided and that Ms. Ameiko deftly prepared!"

Lord Kaijitsu glowers at Floredana.

"Sister Floredana, I'm sure you mean well. But do not try to calm me down by telling me that my daughter has been cooking! For you! Like some common servant!"

Kargas Stormscar wrote:
"Chief-Lord Kaijitsu, be welcome! Yeah, uh, just ignore the short ones, they're drunk and ornery!..."

Lord Kaijitsu looks Kargas up and down.

"Amazing! It seems that the savage is the only one who knows how to address a Lord properly! Now, Mister orc, whatever your name was, If you would be so kind as to take your hands off my daughter."

The elderly man turns out to be Lord Lonjiku Kaijitsu, whom the party met only earlier today.

He looks at Ameiko and Kargas dancing together and his eyes blaze with fury.

"What in the Nine Hells is this?" He shouts angrily.

The music grinds to a halt as everyone in the tavern turns to look.

"Bah! We do not need to do everything for the citizens! They are welcome to travel armed if they wish, and make whatever precautions they think necessary. If the people would carry at least a dagger then they would have some means of fighting. Besides... when the bell sounds the militia is required to report anyway! No need in paying them to loiter around uselessly when they could be at their jobs doing productive work. If the goblins attack, sound the alarm, and have the militia assemble."

"If Magnimar will send reinforcements, then by all means ask for them. Of course, they will want favors in return later on."

"Call up the militia?" Lord Kaijitsu cries out.

"The militia is only to be used when an attack is imminent. I see no reason to cause a panic with so little to go on."

"As you say, there is not likely to be another raid, since this first raid would set us on our guard. This 'human' leader you speak of would no doubt know this. So it is safe to assume that there won't be another attack. Obviously 'they' have some other plan."

"The militia will serve in times of an attack, but if they are going to be standing guard or patrolling streets they must be paid. There is no point throwing money away like that when it is not needed."

Lord Kaijitsu stands again.

"Are you mocking me? Are you calling me a coward?"

He pauses for a moment.

"How dare you! You were only invited here as a courtesy. And look how this courtesy is repaid! Lady Mayor, I demand-"

"It hardly takes a moment to address someone properly, so I don't think we need concern ourselves with wasting time, especially when the other Lords are late! As usual."

"Addressing someone properly shows respect and character. I will not be insulted by a bunch of vagabonds!"

He turns back to Colvyn.

"So the next time you address me, I will hear my title from you, or I will have you thrown in the stocks! Understood?"

He sits back down in a huff, smoothing his robe again.

Colvyn "Slick" Dashtail wrote:
"Something's wrong old man?..."

The old man frowns, and stands up, smoothing his robe. He looks at Colvyn and speaks slowly.

"If you wish to address me, you... rodent... you will address me as 'Your Lordship,' or simply 'Lord.'"

He turns to Rig.

"And you... will address this lady as 'Your Worship,' or 'Lady Mayor.'"

"I understand that you rendered assistance to the town guard during the goblin attack. The Constable here commends you highly. But that act alone does not elevate you to a status that entitles you to this familiarity."

At Lord-Mayor Deverin's greeting of the party, Lord Lonjiku snorts and looks away.

Sense Motive DC 12:
Lord Kaijitsu's distaste is directed mainly at the Lady-Mayor, for being so familiar with commoners.
