Star Voter Season 9

Hmm.

I'm not sure how many people will end up critiquing my item, but thanks to the people that have already. I can tell now that I kinda butchered my wording a lot, so I'll have to work on that next year. Also make something much less spell-in-a-can-y.

Star Voter Season 9

I'm guessing mine was too spell-in-a-can or OP in some way, but I'll take feedback in any form.

Armor of the Sun
Aura Moderate Evocation; CL 7th
Slot Armor; Price 17,500 gp; Weight 50 lbs.
Description
This +1 Fire-Forged Full Plate armor has a dull golden aura that ripples across its steel plates, but otherwise appears like a normal suit of Full Plate.

Once a day, the armor can be activated with a magical incantation to explode into bright illuminations. The burst of light blinds anyone within a 10-foot radius of the user for 1d4 rounds, or dazzles for 1d4 rounds if they make a reflex save (DC 12). If an Evil character is caught in the burst, they take 5d4 damage whether or not they pass the reflex save. After the initial Burst of Radiance, the armor is surrounded by an aura of red and orange flames for 7 rounds. The flames radiate the area within a 5-foot radius around the wearer. All characters that make a melee attack or move into a threatened zone against the wearer while active take 2d6 points of fire damage and catches aflame, or halved if succeeding in a reflex save (DC 14) and avoids catching on fire. The damage from catching on fire does not stack if the character is damaged by the aura of flames multiple times.

Construction
Requirements Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Burst of Radiance, Elemental Aura; Cost 8.750 gp

So wait, which thread should be used? This or the official one? ._.;

Anyway, is there any reason why it would be bad idea to post item for critique? I mean, I want feedback, but can anything bad happen? I'd figure out that answer would be no since I can't submit same item again, but I'm feeling kinda scared about making it public what was my item...

I'm (or I will be) submitting my item for critique and I got culled round 1, so I'm sure you shouldn't feel too bad for what'll be coming your way. Besides, critique is good as long as you don't take it personally.

Star Voter Season 9

Do we post our culled items here or PM, Jeff?

Star Voter Season 9

I guess I came up with an item people liked. Or at least the people I knew liked it.

I regret not getting someone here to workshop with and see if my item would actually survive the contest.

Star Voter Season 9

Well that's depressing. Looks like I'm most likely axed then...

Star Voter Season 9

So, is the current list of items accurate of what survived the cull?

How do you report an item for DQ, and is there anywhere that lists the circumstances for disqualification? I didn't know you could flag items, so I've just been downvoting even the most egregious ones, assuming they would just get culled.

From the voting page:

If you find an item during voting that breaks any of the contest rules, please contact contest@paizo.com.

I think this is mostly to rid out any of the bad formatted ones and such items that could have made it through the cracks.

Well hopefully my totally not an artifact, didn't have some 'major' mistake that got it cut down so soon. That would be more than a 'minor' inconvenience on the road to becoming RPG superstar.

Cause we clearly need more 'meta' artifact jokes....

I'll see myself out.

But, but, isn't round 2, the map round also known as the arty facts round? Badum tish!

Groan...

That's almost as bad as my joke this evening as we explored a ruined building. 'One does not simply walk through more doors'.

I think you meant to say "as great as my joke." Puns are never bad!

You're more correct than you know. Once you make the Top 32, the system prevents you from posting under aliases in the Superstar forums. Template Fu will no longer exist here.
That alone is enough to make me question the advisability of me making the top 32. One of my few redeeming qualities is my willingness to hide behind other identities. That way, nobody has to put up with me for overly long.
Just image how silly your posts will appear when all your aliases revert to your real name and you have 20 posts on a page.

I just felt my stomach drop.

** spoiler omitted **
The aliases are the suppliers of context for some of the less than professional things I've said on here.
I wouldn't feel too bad about it unless you're posting multiple times on the same topic with different identities, in which case I will inform you that I am here for you if you need a friend so you don't have to talk to yourself in a thread.

You have no idea how much such an offer means to me.

Thank you.

Any time! I like chatting with people plus it's good to have a couple more DnD players in my social mix, so it's not a problem for me.

I've been submitted for awhile. I think my mechanics were strong but I didn't get the mojo where I wanted it.

This is my problem. I like my item enough and so have the people I asked about it for their opinions, but whether the voters are going to like what I presented is another thing. Other voters just might not get what my item is or just not care for the abilities, but I'll hope for the best.

Star Voter Season 9

But can your staff beat my +5 Vorpal Cursed Intelligent Rod of Apparatus Artifacts?

Star Voter Season 9

Does the voting period start early for some countries? I'm in an Eastern Standard Time zone so I'm genuinely curious if your time zone affects these things.

I know I made a staff this year as I expected it'd be allowed, but then I double read the rules again.

I think it's safe to reveal that I did not submit a staff like I planned on.

Voting starts Monday. Until then, you just relax.

I don't think I'll be able to relax until I'm positive my item is in the voting in some form, but that's just my personal take.

An important change to note from last time is that the selection of the top 32 this year will be strictly by the popular vote.

I do feel at ease reading Monica's explanation on the voting process. I know in other threads that people said this won't be a problem, but since I'm new to this contest and to the forum for the most part, I couldn't help but think in the back of my mind that something just odd or bad in general could end up in the Top 32 just because think it's funny and the judges couldn't cull them out.

Star Voter Season 9

I'm going to echo people from earlier posts, but I was surprised to see RPGSS starting so soon this year! I don't check my mail often, so I only coincidentally happened upon the roll call this year when I was talking to a friend about it and got to work to make sure I could enter this year (missed out SS2015).

Are people usually nervous doing this sort of contest? I think I'm gonna be an insomniac all week until the voting happens and either I get voted up or I bomb in the polls! Either way, look forward to being involved for the first time despite what could be a busy schedule in the near future.
