Mmh. Since I don't have any clue except from the PC and boardgames - what do you do in battletech when you are not well battling with tech :P?

Politics? Lots of them? (I'm guessing since the setting, at a glance, seems quite volatile with all these factions and infighting and stuff!)

True. Similarly Pokémon Tabletop United runs better as a pbp where you can have an excel sheet do all the stat calculations and stuff ...

Though my second worry is that it might simply take a lot of time to resolve a combat? I remember form the PC games that, given somewhat equivalent mechs, they can take quite a pounding. On the other hand I suppose you aren't actually going to get into that many fights - so maybe quality over quantity?

Scariest thing about d100 is the variation though!

Systems running on multiple d6 tend to have a nicer curve of expected results : )

Though I must say I think I agree with the battletech complexity issue. I'm not sure how the game actually runs, but handling multiple weapon systems and damage zones and positioning for multiple players do sound like it might use up a lot of energy...

Well that's nice to hear at least! Oh and Liisa's little lizard (Altoka was it? 85% sure!). What's his story? Poor little thing didn't get so much time to shine, mostly due to Liisas carefulness.

Oh, speaking of Traveller. Anyone tried Starfinder? A friend is going to run the AP and I looked over the srd and it felt quite a bit like the d20 version of Traveller - a bit less complex of course but still!

@Old FASA game - How easy would it be to find the books? (This goes for the other ones too really.) If they are before the age of pdf-online stores, things might get tough.

Mkay! Out of curiosity, what did Sel think of Liisa? From Liisa's end things seemed to be going decently well - but not perfectly so.

@Games - Those all seem quite interesting, but I don't think I've played any of them.

Star Wars and Trek are both fun IPs that I'd love to play around with. I've played a bit of that new-ish Star Wars rpg that came out a few years ago, but nothing other then that.

Less familiar with Traveller. I've played a few times (and even a few times with you :P) and while I do love the tables and character gen stuff I always feel a bit lost here since I do not have any idea about the setting and it sometimes feels a bit too free and open. Fascinating, but I get lost so easily.

I've only ever had the privilege of battle-meching as a PC game which was very fun! I'm not sure how this rpg is, but since it is an rpg and you are willing to run it I'm going to assume that it is good ^^ And who can say no to big stompy robots :P

No real thoughts on any of the other games : )

Interesting!

I was kind of pondering how/if domain swaps was possible, on account of Liisa's archetype being able to pick Rune and all - and if you had something fun planned for that one?

Also - how did our shrines tie in to all this? Simply an old stronghold with too much ambient defences for our enemies to bother with or something more?

I agree with Neri's first and main point - if you don't feel like it let's call it a day.

I also agree with the assessment that it seems as if there are a bit too many too big plot-holes/oddities from player swapping. It's one of these thing I've encountered before (like Kingmaker!) where it becomes really hard to have something coherent after a while. As sad as it seems, it is probably one of the problems with trying to run more tied-together campaigns in such a volatile medium as pbp. (Though I'd note I've played plenty of IRL campaigns plagued with similar issues!)

Though I also really want to say that it has been a fun ride, even if a bit bumpy sometimes : )

And I'm very interesting in picking your mind in that Q&A!

While looking at a similar dilemma in a game I played a few weeks ago my friend had a brilliant idea. His "subtle signal" was to create a gigantic glowing beacon with his magical spear utilizing the logic "no-one is going to think we are that stupid!".

So - that's an option :P

The bar group probably saw us slipping into the clock-workshop, while the clock group does not know where the bar patrons are - all on account of us sneaking away first.

That would mean that if they finish up their ale and pick us up that would probably the easiest way to rejoin.

Another thing we can do is simply have the clock group head outside and loiter a bit but ... might look suspicions if there are nothing worth loitering around!

I don't recall - were there market stands and such around the street? That's a decent excuse : )

Oh I think that mainly is because no-one wants to be the person that accidentally another village. It's a high-stake game and it makes sense that no-one wants to be the one to send it all crumbling down. But that's exactly what has already been said so ... .P

I'm not sure about Lina - but our conversation with the clockmaker has been going pretty much in circles. Mostly because that was our goal - stalling :P

One thing I'm not sure of though, that feels quite relevant to the situation, is how much money we actually do have. I mean it doesn't matter how much we try to puppy-eye Lina if she actually can't cash out :P

I'm a bit interested in seeing how non-magical non-combat stuff interacts with Neri's magical volcano/our wealth by level and this is a cool thingy to try that with :P

As the priestly pack passed the establishment Liisa had to resist the urge to sigh in relief. And to immediately head out again - now that would look suspicious. Instead she continued to look around in the shop admiring the beautiful devices and hoping that the other team also managed to avoid lightning bolts from the sky. On the bright side - I'm sure we would hear that! Stopping infront of a clock with particularly impressive woodwork Liisa turned to the store owner and asked. "How much are they? I really do like this one. Would look good back home, if a bit out of place ..."

Now to see if Lina punches me for suggesting purchasing non essential stuff :P Also - I wonder if it effects how much material we can pull out of the volcano ...

She would have been happy to have one or three of these hanging around on the walls somewhere she'd call home. Except the whole ten hour thing. Napoleon would be proud though. Making a quick snap decision* Liisa heads towards the clockmaker, doing her best to make it seem as if she was heading there all along and certainly *not* diving away from the priestess and her posse. Nope. Not at all! Luckily she wasn't entirely unfamiliar with slipping away from authorities unnoticed. The hardest thing was always resisting the urge to whistle.

"Mm. Let's check if they have what we need over here." she nodded quietly to her companions, making sure not to look at either the priestess or the other group.

On her way over and once inside the shop she does her best to gauge the clientele and see if she can't take an educated guess on how this visit was supposed to play out - assuming she was merely another commoner looking to procure a timepiece for her home (or perhaps master/employer?) and not a demonic fugitive hiding from divine retribution.

Bluff - fit in: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24

Sense Motive - clock shop atmosphere: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
