"Way to go Rex!" Laurent shouts, seeing the effectiveness of the other nobleman's spell on the crocodile.

Not wanting to waste the opening, he tries to plunge his sword into the reptile's side.

Short Sword Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Short Sword Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Making a quick dash to the southeast, Laurent attempts to plunge his sword into the crocodile's neck, but his thrust is repelled by the monster's tough hide.

Short Sword Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Short Sword Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Aldren, would you be better served by me attacking the alligator (If I hit, I will do a mighty 1d6 damage), or would you rather me assist you with an Escape Artist check? Or do something else?

Sorry, Laurent's not that great in combat situations.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent decides to not pursue Berenice's attacks on his family and background at the moment, simply stating, "We will have to talk politics later, mademoiselle. I'm a little tired and louse-ridden at the moment."

He gives Beppe a nod of thanks when his valet defends him.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

He joins the others in the basement, only to catch sight of the crocodile just as it leaps out of the water to devour Aldren.

The surprise of the event quickly wears off and, drawing his sword, Laurent rushes to Aldren's side.

My only action available is to move 30 ft & draw my weapons (yay +1 BAB!). Does Laurent have to make any Acrobatics checks to avoid AoEs?

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

At Aldren's comments Laurent nods. "I thank you for your kind words, but I am not a revolutionary by nature, and a democrat even less so. I'm in this because the Lord Mayor, and by extension the Thrunes, are bad kings who literally worship devils, not simply because they are kings. Assuming what we are doing here is not just the fantasy of children, I want a coup d'état, a restoration if you will, and not a complete restructuring of society. We already have an Andoren and a Galt on this continent, and that is quite enough."

Laurent manages to keep his surprise under check when Berenice reveals that both she and Beppe are members of the Bellflower Network. "I see. We will have to talk about that later, in private, Beppe," is all he says for now, though he adds a small smile to his words to show he is not angry at his valet.

If everything is concluded, he will accompany the group down into the basement.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent give a smile and a brief bow of thanks to Carawyn for her job cleaning him up.

He joins the others in Laria's back room just in time for the Bellflower revelation; he's more surprised Berenice is involved than this halfling woman he barely know... but then he also barely knows Berenice. Though fighting for your lives against devils and unseelie faeries certainly tends to bring people together quickly.

Regardless, thanks to Carawyn's cleaning, he manages to maintain the composure he lost from the many indignities he suffered at the livery, and keeps his shock in check.

"Thank you for the offer of sanctuary Madame. Much like Monsieur Aldren I did not see the militia members in the common room. They seem to have appeared from nowhere these past few days."

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent gives a little ahem to Carawyn and mentally decides to stop using the subjunctive with her. "Please use that spell on me Mademoiselle. I'm afraid that my current sorry state is not a good fit for this coffee house."

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

So concerned with getting cleaned up is Laurent, he neither notices the Chelish militiamen in the coffee house, nor does he take Berenice's meaning.

"Of course Mlle Bluethistle, I will join you just as soon as I deal with this" he says, pointing at the stains on his clothes.

Upon seeing Carawyn clean up Aldren with a flick of her fingers, Laurent brightens up. He accepts the towel from Bepe, but says "Thank you Beppe, but I think I might have my problem solved."

He turns to Carawyn and asks her "Mademoiselle, you wouldn't be able to clean me using your magic as you just did M Aldren, would you?"

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Hey all, sorry for lack of posting, was just feeling a bit burned out. I will be reading the thread and making a post shortly.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent feels, well, like someone who has been vomited on and is covered in insects, so he is rather embarrassed to appear in public. Still, it is important for a gentleman to put his best foot forward, so he tries to keep his discomfort from showing. Laurent does his best to fix his hair and draw his cloak over the vomit stain on his doublet in an effort to accomplish this.

He takes in the coffee house; it seems very... middle class, to his tastes, but is best not to offend Berenice and Rex, who seem to know the proprietress.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent decides to relent for now. "Very well, I will accompany you to coffee house. Though in the morning I really must insist I make it back tomorrow morning to the Greens," he says.

The young nobleman looks over the progress he and Berenice have been making on destroying the runes. "How does this look, mademoiselle? Will it be sufficient to dispel the magic in this place?" he asks Carawyn.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent smiles, glad that he has had some success in translating the gnome woman's opaque manner of speech.

He sets about using his sword to do what he can to destroy the runes surrounding the pool of filth.

"Regarding the coffee house, I will be happy to meet you there, but probably tomorrow morning. I did not anticipate this little adventure, and other than my sword and the armor I am wearing, I left everything else that may be of use to us at my uncle's estate," Laurent says. "I would like to go there and collect these things, and take bath and change my clothes. Perhaps I can meet you at Long Roads tomorrow morning?"

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

"Monsieur Aldren is correct. While in some sense anything we put in the vault at Abadar's temple would be safe from thieves, the Lord Mayor has full legal authority to just seize the items if he gets wind of our little attempt at a coup d'état. Certainly the bankers of Abadar would not resist him," Laurent says, emphasizing the term bankers with some distaste.

Taking a small liberty assuming laws, let me know if you want me to make a check of some kind.

A slightly confused look crosses Laurent's face as he tries to puzzle out Carawyn's meaning. "Eh, perhaps I am misinterpreting you mademoiselle, but I think you are saying that we should destroy the runes if we don't want any more devils? If that is the case, can we just deface them in order to destroy the magic?" Laurent asks, placing his hand on the hilt of his shortsword.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Hello everyone.

My internet service was restored this morning, so I should have posts up soon.

Sorry for the delay.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Immediately suspicious, Laurent cocks his head to the side when Rex says that Ba gave him the key to the chest. "Monsieur Ba gave you that, you say? How did he get a hold of it?

For the moment, he just ignores Berenice's attempt to hunt for Stellx, as he has had quite enough of being vomited on for the afternoon.

When Aldren mentions translating the coded documents, he says, "I know a bit of Elven too. But I have a strong suspicion that if M. Ba gave Lord Rexus that key, he may be able to do the translating for us."

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent picked up the first cloak, as well as anything else of value, from the infested pit.

ALSO, sorry for slow posts. My landlord forgot to pay our internet & cable bill, so I am using my phone as a hotspot. Unfortunately I am out of data so my bandwidth gets cut hard.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Here is my Level Up

Hit Points: 1d8 ⇒ 1

+1 to all existing skills

Laurent gains evasion

For a rogue talent, I will take a the vigilante social talent of Renown, effective in the The Greens section of Kintargo. Phantom Thief allows Laurent to take vigilante social talents instead of regular rogue talents.

Unfortunately it doesn't do anything except give people from the Greens a slightly better opinion of me at the moment, but I need it for the future. Best to get it out of the way.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent withdraws a handkerchief from his pocket and does his best to wipe the sweat, and other fluids, from his face and hands.

"I think I might need to join him in drinking some of that wine, if he's got any. I can't say I was expecting to be vomited on, then covered in lice, and finally almost eaten by rats all in one afternoon," Laurent says to Aldren.

"By the way, thank you for that timely healing prayer," he continues, giving the Lirana a short bow.

Walking over to the arcane symbols on the wall, he inspects them,
though of course he has no idea what they might do. "Mlle Finwinkle, have you been able to make heads or tails of the magic in this room? Why would anyone want to capture slime monsters in the basement of an old livery? Also, are they producing the music?"

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Aldren, it looks like we're flanking one of the lemures, so I'm going to have Laurent just attack it. The most I can do is 1 point of damage.

Laurent attempts to puncture the evil pile of goo with his sword, though he is skeptical of his potential effectiveness against the monster.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
I think I'm at a +3 here due to +2 Dex, +2 flank, -1 lice infestation.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent smiles as the warmth of positive energy fill him, filling the myriad bite marks he had sustained with new flesh.

"Thank you, Shelyn," he says quietly, closing his eyes in a moment of prayer.

Drawing his short sword, he moves to line himself up so that he and Aldren, or perhaps someone else, can easily flank the nearby fiend.

Move into position, move to draw sword. Thanks for the heal, Lirana.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Small emergency, the rats nearly killed Laurent, he is at 2/8 HP

Laurent reels as the swarm of rats engluf him, covering his body with a thousand tiny bites. Covering his mouth to avoid adding his own vomit to that of the Fae's upchuck on his doublet, he runs toward the back wall, hoping to escape the relentless vermin.

I think Laurent is nauseated, so I can only take a move action. He'll go 30 ft north. I'm sorry DM, I'm not sure what effect the music is having.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent fishes another Alchemist's Fire -the last one- out of Septimus's backpack.

Even as he tosses it into the vermin, he says "Mlle. Caldori is correct. If this firepot doesn't kill these damnable rats, we may need a whole case of the stuff."

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Missed Splash Attack: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Move action to grab the last Alchemist's fire from Septimus. Standard to throw it into southwestern square of the swarm

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Sadly Laurent has no idea what these things are, so he would have no reason to suspect they are vulnerable to silver.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent grabs a Alchemist's Fire out of Septimus's backpack, then turns back toward the swarm of rats.

"Incoming!" he yell, then waits a second for everyone to back away from the rats before chucking the alchemical concoction into the mass of creatures.

Move action to retrieve the Alchemist's Fire, Laurent will hold it until everyone backs away from the rats. When they do he will throw it at the swarm square closes to him as a standard action.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Missed Attack: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent sees no choice but to help deal with the rat swarm, as he has no idea how deep the offal pit is. He runs up behind Septimus as the former guardsman attacks one of the horrible melted creatures, but isn't quick enough to grab a flask of alchemist's fire out of his pack.

Have to double move to make it adjacent to Septimus to grab an alchemist's fire out of his bag.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

"Well, this is beyond my ability to open. We might need to hire someone to get at it. Of course we could also just smash the chest, but I suspect anything in here might be delicate... and the chest itself might be worth something," Laurent says.

Once the group has decided to move forward, he will take one of the silver raven figurines as instructed. He lingers near the back, since a whole horde of people attempting to sneak into a room through one entrance is likely doomed to failure.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

An excited edge creeps into Laurent's voice as he uncovers the box with the fine mithral lock. "What have we here? Look at this lovely lock. I bet there is something quite nice in side," he says quietly.

Of course, the box could be a decoy, so he carefully checks it for traps before disarming any that he finds. Once that's done, hell take some time to open the lock.

Laurent is going to take 20, if he can, on a Perception for traps (25), Disable Device on traps (27) and Disable Device on locks (27). In case he can't the rolls are below.

Perception for Traps: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Disable for Traps: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Disable for Locks: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Ever cautious, Laurent begins by looking over the room for traps. Once that is complete, he'll see if he can find anything useful here.

While he is inspecting the place for traps, he will look to see if he finds any interesting treasure.

"Hmm, this must be the cache we were told of," he says while he is inspecting the room. "Maybe we can find something in here that will explain the runed abbatoir out there... and look, I don't suppose this is Stellx's nest?"

Perception for traps: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Perception for mundane search of the room: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Been having trouble connecting to Paizo from my cable internet connection. The data plan on my phone works just fine, though. Have no idea why.

Unfortunately I'm full up on forum games at the moment Chubbles, otherwise I would submit a character (as I have about 10 billion Pathfinder concepts & builds saved in my HeroLab folder).

Part of the reason for me being full is that I am staring up a Werewolf game in the next couple of days. I didn't want to post it here for fear of stealing your thunder, but I would like perhaps one or two more character submissions before I close up recruitment tomorrow night.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

"Runes aside," Laurent says, gazing into the room, "what is this even doing inside of a livery? Most I know of don't come with a warded chamber filled with an offal pool. I'm beginning to think the Silver Ravens kept more than an emergency stash of money here."

The young man sighs and unconsciously scratches his chest and neck.

"Regardless, let me check this outer hallway for traps before we proceed. We had better be extra careful now."

Perception for Traps in outer hallway: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

If there is no further business with Stellx at the moment, Laurent will approach the grate and see if there is some kind of opening mechanism. If there is he will open it, if not, he will ask Septimus if he is capable of smashing through the grate.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent inwardly sighs but outwardly maintains his composure. I suppose this is to be expected in dealing with an insane fairy creature, he thinks.

"I see. Well, let me just put these down then. We can find out what is making magic behind that grate, then return to perhaps negotiate the use of these items," Lauren says, folding the cloak and putting it on the floor, then placing the baubles on top of it. He absentmindedly scratches around the back of his neck as does so, flicking a small beetle that had gotten into his hair to the floor.

Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Laurent gathers up the magical cloak and the knick knacks, then climbs back up out of the hole, having missed the conversation with Stellx.

"It seems I got everything, but I will probably have to have my clothes deloused when I get home," he says, grimacing. "I heard you talking up here. Did Stellx decide to leave already?"

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Fort Save: 1d20 ⇒ 3

As he's searching through the stuff, Lauren't calls up to Aldren, "Can you pinpoint what has the magical aura? I can't tell myself. There's some jewelry, coin, and a bunch of rubbish but nothing that stands out as magical"

Without even realizing it Lauren has begun scratching himself all over. "Ugh, disgusting creatures," he mutters to himself.

So far Laurent has been barfed on and infested with bugs. What further indignities await?

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

"Alright, let's have a look then," Laurent says, checking as much of the pit as he can without descending into it.

If he is satisfied there are no traps, he will take a moment to remove his leather breastplate and greaves, then climb down into the depression.

Perception for Traps: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent retains his composure at Berenice's outburst, though internally he is quite surprised that the excitable halfling woman is so upset that there are plenty of halfling slavers- and worse professions besides. Laurent considers for a moment that perhaps it is a sign how far the Chelaxian people have fallen that he does not consider it personally insulting when a member of his own race is engaged in nefarious activities.

He gives her a slight apologetic bow. "My apologies if I caused offence, mademoiselle. If it is any consolation, both the score and the libretto for This Little Life were written over a century ago. I don't know of any modern revivals."

Once Carawyn places the net down into the pit, Laurent looks around. "I will admit that I'm no outdoorsman. I might be able to make it down without incident if I have a moment to remove my armor. if no one else feels they can do it.

Removing his armor will give Laurent a straight die roll on climb.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Knowledge: History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

As Laurent is searching the room for traps, the mysterious music starts up again. Without thinking he begins humming along with it while he is looking over the grate, then suddenly stops.

Hmm... now that's odd, he murmurs to himself. Finding no traps in the room or on the grate, he wanders back to the group.

"Sorry, I've no rope with me today Mlle. Lirana. Other than my sword and a bit of armor I left most of my things back at home today," he says while peering over into the pit when he arrives with the rest of the group.

"By the way, I recognize that tune from my mother's sheet music collection. It's from an old piece called This Little Life, about a Halfling that became a slaver. Somewhat unusual in that it was an operetta that dealt with a serious subject. I don't really know why it would be playing here, but maybe it is tied to the original Silver Ravens?

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent scratches head at the whole scene, but is happy that the fey seems to be mollified for now. "Don't worry M. Stellx, there will be plenty to eat in the wilds outside the city, much better than old wood! Just like home in the Faerie realm."

Unless Stellx prevents him, Laurent then enters into the store room, letting the others focus on looking for the source of strange music while methodically begins checking the room for traps.

Unless anyone objects or it is impossible, Laurent will take 20 for a result of 25 on a check to search the storeroom and rusty iron grate for traps.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

I'm a little confused, is the sense motive check for us as a party, or just for Septimus?

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

"Well, there's nothing to it then. We will have to look in on that door and see what's inside. As far as M. Stellx goes, I don't think any of us have magic that can compel him," Laurent says.

He turns to the fey and continues, "M. Stellx, do you swear, on pain of death, that if we free you from these binding wards, you and your family will depart Kintargo immediately and forever, and furthermore harming no residents of the city ever again?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent raises and eyebrow and gives Lirana a half-smile. "Ms. Caldori, Ms. Bluethistle, I certainly think this fellow would cause a some annoyance to the Lord Mayor. But please think of his servants and the ordinary people who attend him that are not powerful Asmodean priests. Stellx is more likely to annoy a maid than bother Barzillai Thrune."

His peace said, he turns his attention back to Stellx just in time for the monster's "witty" -and pungent - retort. Laurent can't help but screw his face up in disgust. "Ugh..." he mutters before turning his eyes on Lirana, whom he assumes would be the most informed about the destination of the souls of fairies.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent has to suppress another wave of nausea just looking at the foul creature, apparently a "grimple." He takes note that it does not seem too upset that its compatriots were killed

Though he has no idea how grimples will react to Avistani principals of diplomacy, Laurent tries to put his best foot forward. "M. Stellx, perhaps if we investigate this music for you, you and your family would be willing to relocate yourself outside of the city? It would likely be much safer there anyway, not to mention much easier to find food."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Laurent finishes wiping the creature's vomit from his face and shirt, placing his now-ruined handkerchief back inside of his pocket.

Shaking his head in disgust, he heads back into the "secret" room and sees that Septimus and the monster have gone down the ladder; Laurent arrives in the basement just as the monster is asking Septimus if it can tell him anything.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

Unfortunately Laurent is too busy retching out in the hallway to hear the last creature offer a surrender. He does manage to fumble a handkerchief out of his pocket to cover his mouth (and hopefully clean off some of the monster vomit).

Not sure if we are still in rounds. If so Laurent is nauseated.

Male Human Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief) 2: Init +6; Perception +6; Saves Fort +0, Ref +5, Will +1; AC 15, Touch 12, FF 13; HP 12/12

A full splattering of monster vomit hits Laurent square in the face. The foul brown liquid drips down the front of his fine shirt as the young nobleman can do nothing by sputter and muster all of his willpower to stop himself from dry heaving. He manages to take a few stuttering steps to back away from the creature and out of the collapsed wall.

Sorry folks, I'm pretty much out of this fight.

A bemused look passes over Laurent's face as he is faced with the bizarre creature's vomit flying over his shoulder. "I guess this proves that they're not bats or opossums," he says.

Laurent readies his sword to strike at the creature, lunging at the winged beast to his west and attempting to strike it on its wings.

Laurent seems amazed and even a little impressed that Septimus just smashes through the wall. "Well, that solves that problem," he says cheerily.

After taking a few moments, very distasteful moments, to sift through literal garbage in the hidden room, Laurent says, "Well, onto the next door. Be on the lookout for those mangy opossum-ghost-bats while I check it over."

He kneels down next to the trap door and looks for any traps. If he doesn't find any, he will try to open it. If it is locked, he will try to pick the lock.

Deciding to overlook Aldren's sarcastic tone for the time being, as he barely knows the man, Laurent maintains a calm demeanor befitting a noble.

"Let me see if I can get this grate open; if not we can take a look behind the "secret" door. I would like to deal with that bat first and not have it come out behind us if I can help it," he says, sliding his lockpicks from his sleeve once again.

Just to be safe, he checks to make sure the grate is not trapped; if it is not, he will proceed with trying to open it.

"It looks like this grate might be the entrance to the cache we were looking for," Laurent calls out to the others. "It's open but our mutant bat flew in here."

With the warning given Laurent opens the grated door just enough to see if he can see anything inside.

Laurent begins walking the perimeter of the livery, making his way slowly inward. He puts to use the careful method to check for traps and secret doors that his uncle teaches every scion of the house.

Secret Door Perception check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Trap Perception check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
