Class abilities:

Weapon and Armor Prof:Wizards are proficient with the club, dagger, heavy crossbow, light crossbow, and quarterstaff, but not with any type of armor or shield. Armor interferes with a wizard's movements, which can cause his spells with somatic components to fail.

Arcane bond: At 1st level, wizards form a powerful bond with an object or a creature. This bond can take one of two forms: a familiar or a bonded object. A familiar is a magical pet that enhances the wizard's skills and senses and can aid him in magic, while a bonded object is an item a wizard can use to cast additional spells or to serve as a magical item. Once a wizard makes this choice, it is permanent and cannot be changed.

Arcane school: Universalist: A wizard can choose to specialize in one school of magic, gaining additional spells and powers based on that school. This choice must be made at 1st level, and once made, it cannot be changed. A wizard that does not select a school receives the universalist school instead.

Cantrips:Wizards can prepare a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells, each day, as noted on Table: Wizard under “Spells per Day.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again. A wizard can prepare a cantrip from an opposition school, but it uses up two of his available slots.

Scribe Scroll: At 1st level, a wizard gains Scribe Scroll as a bonus feat.

Favored Class bonus: Wizard Add a +1 bonus on concentration checks made due to taking damage while casting wizard spells.

Background:
Lartis, the adopted son of two half-elven mages, grew up surrounded by magic. He teethed by gnawing on spent wands and learned to walk and run chasing after his father's fox familiar.

When he was old enough, his parents tested his magical aptitude and were delighted when he proved he could harness the fundamentals of magical energy. Spending the next 8 years learning the lore of magic and mystical places, Lartis grew fascinated with the untamed wilds of Mwangi. After finishing his apprenticeship, Lartis took only his cartography equipment, his father's battered beginner spellbook, and a few basic supplies before catching the Jenivere out of Magnimar.

Appearance:
Lartis is of average height and weight and were it not for his deep olive green skin and twin tusks that just slightly through his bottom lip, he would pass for any other scholar you would see in the library district. Beginning at the base of his neck and continuing down his left arm are a series of elvish protection glyphs. When he became of age, he bonded the glyphs to his body, with the aide of his parents, and has drawn great comfort from them. They allow him to feel connected to his unique upbringing now that he has departed the safety of home and hearth.

His brown eyes betray his eagerness when learning a new spell, or discovering a new history book and his deep baritone voice holds a trace of elvish accent, a legacy passed to him by his adopted parents teaching it to him first before the expanding his grasp of languages.

Lartis' frame is lean, but fit, as he discovered early in life a passion for exercise to keep himself from becoming too frail to seek out the wonders of the world and while he knows he is not the strongest of men, he is always quick to add a new exercise into his morning routine.
