"Hey, guys! God, that took forever," Laboni moans, laughing.

"Guess what? They offered me a regular spot on the show! Yeah, I'lll be running in this race every week! I've already got some neat ideas for upgrades, as soon as I clean up the engine. I'm gonna be a celebrity! And I couldn't have done it without you guys!"

She pulls a credit chit from the duffel bag.

"Radaszam already took most of the prize money, but he said to give this share to you guys."

The credstick has 400 credits on it.

"Also, I totally made up with Ratrod. He gave me this," she offers the duffel bag to the group. "Said his scrap guys found the parts and put it together, and he thought a Starfinder might be able to use it."

Inside the duffel bag is a battered suit of graphite carbon skin armor.

"So... yeah. I gotta get back... apparently there's a bunch of contracts I gotta sign. Radaszam is sending an agent over for me. So I'll see you later! Thanks for everything!"

Laboni waits a few moments for the group to say their goodbyes and then hustles back towards the main buildings.

The crows goes wild as Laboni pulls the racer back to the pit, waving at the cheering crowd. You rush out of the maintenance shed to meet her.

"We won - I can't believe it! That was amazing!" she shouts over the roar of the crowd as she runs towards the group. "That wasn't even close! We left everyone in the dust, even Ratrod!"

"You guys were the greatest!"

Soon you and Laboni are swarmed by officials, reporters, and cheering fans. As Laboni is dragged off she calls back to you:

"I think this is going to be a while... talk to me after!"

Laboni turns to the crew.

"This is it," says Laboni. " You guys better head to the maintenance shed and get the remote rig going. I'll need one of you to stay here to help me roll the junkracer to the starting grid when they call. You can't start your engine until they say so. But after that whoever it is should head to the shed too. Don't let anyone see the remote rig."

She stops for a moment, and lowers her head bashfully.

"And look... ah... whatever happens, I really appreciate your help. Really. With everything."

She shakes her head.

"Now go on," she says, looking away. "We need to be ready!"

"Yeah, yes sir. Got it." Laboni nods earnestly. Eventually the Referee huffs and walks off.

Laboni hands Khorvax a package. "Here's your stuff. See you later." She then leans closer, and whispers, "When the race starts, you can still help me out. Just use this to log in remotely to help me operate it."

Khorvax: This means that you can no longer contribute in the upgrading racer portion, but you can still help operate the racer during the race.

Laboni smiles. "I knew I could count on the Starfinders!"

She hits a switch on her rig, and projects a set of holographic schematics for her racer.

"Okay, here's the layout for my racer."

Schematics wrote:

LABONI'S RACER

Speed 40 ft., full 400 ft. (each round of the race the vehicle will either move the full value, half this value, or not move at all.)
EAC 10; KAC 12
Attack: energy weapon (a hit gives target –4 to Piloting)
Steering: +2 Piloting
Targeting: –3 attack
Passengers: 1
SPECIAL ABILITIES
Remote Control: Laboni’s junkracer and weaponry can be
remotely controlled by the PCs, allowing them to make attack
rolls and attempt Piloting checks in her place.

"What I really need is better components. This racer is decent, but not good enough compared to the others. If you find cooler stuff I can put it in pretty easy, or we can upgrade the stuff I have already."

In her paisley clothing and white lab coat, Laboni is easy to find.

"I'm so glad you're here!" she shouts, clearly relieved and happy at the presence of the group.

"The older Starfinders are always talking about how great they are, and I was just trying to be like them. I got carried away! But now I'm in this race, and Radaszam has said I better win or I'm in deep trouble!"

"If I had lots of time I'm sure I could build a really great racer... but the other drivers have been working on their own racers for months, or even years. I put one together but I don't think it'll hold up, and the race is tonight! I really hope you can help! Are any of you guys mechanics?"

"I'm actually not that great of a pilot either," she confides sheepishly. "Or good at shooting things. I'm just good at building stuff! But it has to be me on the racer or it doesn't count. But if any of you can drive one of these things, I built a remote control rig into the racer. You guys could fly it remotely from the pit while I ride on it! What do you think?"

I'm not sure what Thuldas wants to do so I'll let him do this action later. But let's move on to action 2.

"So, what's next?" Laboni asks.

Action 1:

Dawn: Scavenged (fail) & Socialized with Velocity (fail)
Iolas: Repaired (fail) & Appraised Ratrod (success)
Stell: Sizing up (succeeded with all except Velocity)
Thuldas:
Wint: Analyzed Ratrod (success).

Action 2:

Dawn:
Iolas:
Stell:
Thuldas:
Wint:

"So... what do you think we should do first?" Laboni asks.

Laboni looks at Wint nervously. "Uh... I dunno... there'd have to be no chance at all that you'd be spotted. At the start and the end the when pilots are getting in and out, there a lot of cameras on them. I think they would see this blue fuzzy thing on my lap."

If you want to do that, you will need to figure out how you won't be seen, and also make a diplomacy check to convince Laboni to go for it.
