![]() Kyorruel stared out the window of the room he was staying in and sighed in disappointment. He felt his fingers twitching and longed to be outside, in the panic and confusion from an invading army arriving he could make himself quite a bit of profit. But alas, his mundane disguise was not advanced enough that he would risk unnecessary scrutiny and his magical disguise was simply too limited to be be of use for more than a short period. Alas, maybe next time. Best go find my 'companions' before those sanctimonious purple knight bastards start doing their thing. He returns to the common room intending to find some of his companions. ![]()
![]() Kyorruel takes a deep gulp of his mead while he ponders the merchant and his threats. "I think it unwise to waste any time on the man. He is merely angry that his whore of a daughter has cost him the opportunity to sell her off most likely. By morning he will have calmed or he will do something foolish and the three will deal with him. Either way its out of our hands." ![]()
![]() Kyorruel decides to share what he has learned with both Dorn and Vorik, seeing as they both hold positions of power in their guise as a merchant and as leader of their mission. At dinner time Kyorruel sits with Dorn and asks him if he has learned anything of value and shares with him what he learned while in town. Vorik and Dorn:
The King Azoun will be here in the city tomorrow He will continue to dine with Dorn if he is willing, ordering wine with his meal. When the merchant orders his guards to grab someone at the outsiders table, Kyorruel does not react immediately but does carefully loosen his rapier from in its sheath and lays his hand on it in case his companions decide to bare arms, as unlikely and unwarranted though he believes that action would be. ''I wonder why the merchant is wanting that man seized?'' He will ask aloud to whomever is at his table. Probably the one who carries himself as a rogue. Those sort are unable to keep out of trouble for long. He thinks of Cyric as the thoughts flow about his head. ![]()
![]() Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Kyorruel nods and feigns a polite smile at the merchant who addressed him. ''I shall be well pleased to sell what wares I have. Always happy to hear the clinking of more coins.'' He laughs a little at his own jest and sets out into the city to learn what he can about it. Diplomacy(Gather Information): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Kyorruel seeks information among the peers of his cover identity, the merchants. He jests with them and admires their wares while they speak. He attempts to be friendly with some of them and inquires as to the best possible price for the magical rapier he found, if he did want to sell it. After he is done with that Kyorruel will look for a good mark to make use of his best talent, thieving.
Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 Once he is done he retreats to another corner and dismisses his disguise. ![]()
![]() @Dorn and Mawj I was aware of most of those options (not effortless lace but whatevs)

![]() My main beef with 4e is it always seemed to me that they killed off a bunch of deities in an attempt to make the world simpler while also making the game simpler to make it more attractive to more causal fans. I hate the casualization of any media to attract a wider audience. There are no words I hate more than "attract a wider audience" because in my experience it always means the same thing, they gut the features I like for a bunch of casuals. Its so prevalent in videogames that it hurts me. A bunch of my favorite videogame series have had all their best features removed or scaled back to make them more attractive to others. Infuriating. Rant over. ![]()
![]() Kyorruel frowns a little as he watches the group seemingly begin to fall apart. This is what happens when you band together a bunch of low creatures, how can you expect them to act civilized. When Vorik orders Dorn placed in irons, Kyorruel is of two minds. On the one hand he would like to see the haughty human humbled but this fighting is not good for the mission and their superiors might choose to punish all of them and not just those who fought if they failed in their mission. He decided to avoid breaking his cover while still trying to break the tension and resolve this foolish conflict. He approached Vorik slowly and non-threatening. "Sir please, call off this madness. Whether anyone likes it or not you did attack him, whatever your intentions it was ill done. Let us end this madness now before it escalates and someone dies over a slap and a lowly mutt.", He looks Vorik in the eye meaningfully and lowers his voice."We all have our part to play. Let us continue as we must." His piece said, Kyorruel returns to arms to their position crossed over his chest, in easy reach of weapons, in case he need them but determined to maintain his cover as a merchant. ![]()
![]() The threat of a fight breaking seemingly passing by, Kyorruel returns his rapier to his sheath. He smiles a little to see Dorn knocked down a peg or two but says nothing. He doesn't wish to draw any more attention to himself then is needed and sees no need in antagonizing the merchant. Still it does one good to see the man brought down to his proper level. ![]()
![]() Kyorruel spent the trip mostly keeping to himself, going over his cover story and running different scenarios in his head for different eventualities. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Spotting the light and feeling the cold envelop him, Kyorruel tucks one arm into his cloak while using the other to pull the cloak tighter about his person. With his good arm now hidden from view, he carefully draws his rapier from its sheath and moves to warn whichever of his companions is nearest and but stops when he sees that Dorn seems to be aware and has warned his two guards. He tries to appear unconcerned while continuing to scan the horizon for hints of danger. ![]()
![]() Im of two minds regarding the Drizzt question. on the one hand R.A.Salvatore's books were my first experience with D&D and ultimately why im here playing with you guys now. On the other hand Drizzt is single-handedly responsible for the hundreds of chaotic good drow in the world of table top gaming. On the other, other hand most of us are evil.... So respectfully Mawj, I suggest we lop off one hand and let the gods decide his fate. ![]()
![]() Kyorruel shakes his head a little at Edwin's comment. ''Did you not hear Lord Mirrormane ask Vorik what cover you would use in their plans? He means for you to pretend to be a slave, not to actually enslave you. Do try and keep up Edwin.'' Kyorruel smirks a little as he finishes, giving the impression that his little speech was meant as a light-hearted jab and not a character assassination. Besides, everyone is a slave to something, whether it be a person or a desire or feeling. Not all men realize it is all. ![]()
![]() Kyorruel looks up at the Mirrormanes before speaking. "I have been hiding my nature my entire life. My so he are small and can be strapped down, hidden in the folds of a cloak, colored lens will help with my eyes and gloves shall hide the claws. In a pinch, I have magic that will allow me to hide my true form." slightly sheepishly he adds "Although admittedly I am young and cannot yet hold the disguise for very long. But I look enough like an elf that a mundane disguise should suffice and I can act like an elf if I am required."
