"I could go for a bite to eat." Khozin moves toward the door, but pauses when he notices the hermit's gaze following him from within the building. The half elf looks undecided for a moment before shrugging in resignation. He deftly produces a number of daggers in various shapes, a flick of his wrist planting the blades of each into the turf next to the hermit's door one by one. Khozen once again looks to the hermit, nods his head, and follows the others past the threshold.
Sorry for the unnannounced absence. I arrived at work last week to discover my boss had unexpectedly been canned, and his duties were to be shared by myself and one other employee until a new manager can be hired. It's been a bit overwhelming, but educational, and I think I have a handle on my additional responsibilities now. I'll get my character completed and finalized within a few days.
Khozin shifts unconfortably in the saddle, unwilling to dismount for fear that his inexperience with horses would hinder him should he have to return to the saddle shortly. "I can't say I remember doing anything to earn his distaste. I think you would have more to worry about my memory." The half elf grins as he nods to the burnt-out husk of a large alder. "Luckily, the landmarks that mark the path are notable enough that even an addled mind would be hard-pressed to forget them. Our path begins here, down a narrow path next to the dead tree and into the Wood."
"I'm afraid I can't tell you much about the man; I never met him. My teacher had taken a turn for the worst at that point. I had to escort him to the hermit's home, but I didn't follow him inside." Khozin shrugs to suggest the details don't matter. "The important thing is I can find my way back to the place." The half-elf turns to Pellius to answer his question. "As for our price, I believe Alagor already mentioned it: We're looking to leave Freedom Town, and I heard you might be looking to hire a few extra hands. We can work for our way. Just let us join the caravan when you head out."
Khozin rubs the meager stubble on his face as he listens to his friend's greeting. The half elf nods in agreement. "Just don't ask Alagor here to navigate for you." Khozin smirks. "It's said men are often led by their sword, though I admit I may be stretching the context a bit; as you might be able to tell, though, there are times Tanladvir leads, and Alagor can only follow." "In all seriousness, though, I overheard you are looking for someone in Curbril Wood? Before his door was closed I once accompanied my teacher to meet an acquaintance there. I can't imagine there are many men that call the place home; perhaps I can lead you to the one you seek."
I'll be updating my character profile to level 2 shortly; hp: 1d8 ⇒ 4. I thought I'd leave Ohrim's info open-ended. It could be any sort of petty theft or blackmail that he's undertaken since arriving in town, at your discretion; Khozin may have spent time scouting his marks, and doing so allowed him to avoid immediate reprisal, but I imagine there would be a fair amount of his actions that could lead to trouble if leaked. Feel free to use it to add to the story in Freedom Town if you want, or ignore it entirely and continue the main plot.
Thanks for the welcome, it's good to be here. That seems fine to me as well, Tadpole. Character introductions can be a hassle in general, and only more so when new characters are added to a game-in-progress. Best to streamline things as much as possible to move the story along. I can easily see a friendship between Alagor and me. Though the source of our feelings are slightly different, we share a very similar desire to protect and provide for those dear to us. |
