I need clarification, please. I think we have been doing it wrong. We were playing as if every spell our water sorcerer was casting that had the mark under blood magic would do bludgeoning damage. After reading blood magic again, I do not think this is correct. It states that if the +1 damage from the elemental type matches the spells damage type then they are combined. Are we doing it wrong? Thanks
My homebrew world had something that happened in it during the last campaign that created something similar to the world wound. Were there any adventure paths or pfs adventures that dealt in that area or with closing it? I'm looking for inspiration for my next campaign since the group is intrested in trying to deal with that. I'm aware of the playtest book that went to that area, nothing before.
Would a Barbarian be able to use one Escape action to use athletics to break out of poor manacles with a DC 17 in combat. Item and Action below. Manacles:
ESCAPE [one-action]
So my player now has discovered levitate and wants to levitate a building. I guess a structure could be argued to not fall in the parameters of a stationary object, or that it does. But what about Large single objects, like a statue created by a giant? I'm just curious why there is no limit on how large of an item levitate can lift? K-Ray
I have seen many say that a shield is not a weapon. However, I can not find any rule that says that. The only hint is that weapon runes cannot be applied to the base shield. I also see shield bash is listed as martial in the weapon section. The reason I need to know is for the champion in my group. Does it count as a martial weapon for proficiencies? No attachments, just shield bash. K-ray
I know it's silly. But the party I'm running a game for has "joked" about it too much so I know its going to happen. How much coinage could a donkey hold "living", and then if it was turned into stone, what would the total bulk be? I'm thinking heavy enough that it would require a wagon and at least 2 pack animals to pull?? Thanks for indulging this silliness. K-ray Edit. Umm the coins would be inside the donkey
Is specialty crafting ment to be a feat you can only take once? When my player asked if they could take it twice with a different specialty, I thought, that makes sense and seems right. But when we looked it up it does not have that sentence saying it could be taken multiple times, further more the app she is using wont allow her to take it. I'm fine if this is the intent, we are trying to play this game as close to the rules as possible. K-ray
I'm thinking it should be level 3. It is a thriving town but reading the Gazette makes it seem smaller. The GM section in the core book under earn income (pg 504) says towns are usually level 2-4. This is for the earn income options for the players. What do you all think? Or better yet if Breachill has an assigned level, point that out to me please. We did plaguestone and now want to do age of ashes as close to the rules as possible before I convert my homebrew world to pf2 and house rule stuff K-Ray
I just got the 12 exp to level up in PFS. As a bard I want to take Inspire Competence but I am not clear on exactly how it works. It states: Inspire Competence (Cantrip 1)
Your encouragement inspires your ally to succeed at a task. This counts as having taken sufficient preparatory Actions to Aid your ally on a skill check of your choice, regardless of the circumstances. When you later use the Aid reaction, you can roll Performance instead of the normal skill check, and if you roll a failure, you get a success instead. If you are legendary in Performance, you automatically critically succeed. So do I cast the cantrip then make a performance check, or does the casting count as an aid plus I get the "you cant make a normal failure" as extra? The duration 1 round, and wording say "when you later use the Aid reaction" do not help. Thanks for any insight. K-Ray
I will be starting Doomsday Dawn Thursday, for 5 players. Just prior to the Character backgrounds it mentions Adjusting Encounters per the Pathfinder Playtest Bestiary for non-4 persons groups. Will doing so mess with the feedback? Would it be suggested to adjust the encounters for The Lost Star? I see the adjustments already added for later parts. K-Ray
In The Heroes of Undarin, during event 6. High Priest it gives text for the Demilich and Risen Corpses locations and actions. However, there is a Banshee listed without any text and even has increased numbers with 5 and 6 players. Was the Banshee supposed to be here and just got the text left out or was it removed but it's a copy paste error similar to the Dire rat of the Lost Star? K-Ray
If a fighter with a raised shield uses their reaction to do the Shield block, where does the damage go? Say he is holding a steel shield (Hardness 5) and they were struck for 15 damage. Does 5 get ignore due to hardness then 10 goes to the fighter or does the 10 go to the shield giving it 2 dents, Or both? Thanks, K-ray
Sorry if this runs a little long. Background: This is a low level party (lvl's 2-3) with 4-6 players, depending on the night. There are 2 divine casters (a Cleric and a Oracle). In my homebrewed games I allow 1 divine intervention per divine caster at the start of the game with the chance to "Recharge" or lose it based of roleplaying. (Used by the point that I am writing this) The other players include a Rogue, Wizard, a Alchemist and a unknown class as of yet since he has not shown up. What happened: They guys went to a dinner put on by the leader of their very large group and the oracle mentioned not having any Dire Boar to eat. So, on the trip back to the Fort they recently liberated from some Hobgoblins they got their Dire Boar. The Alchemist who was on guard duty died in the first round. The Oracle followed suit soon after, leaving the rogue and wizard to finish it off (Cleric was not there this night). The Curse: Once the two survivors returned to the Fort with the bodies of the fallen, A Woman (NPC) who was the sister of a Cleric (also a NPC) came from a building that she spends all her time in. She cries for the fallen then touches their faces bringing them back to life. The NPC cleric walks into the court yard in time to see her do this and screams "Noooooooooooo!". The cleric explains to the party later that his sister is able to bring anyone back to life with a touch, however the are forever connected to her. Any harm that befalls her is placed on anyone she has brought back to life. The draw back to her is that the use of her life force to do this weakens her with each new person she brings back, until that person dies and her life force is returned. At this point the sister is unable to walk on her own and needs help getting around. As an afterthought the cleric tells the party that, "Oh yeah, if you die once more you can not be brought back to life once more." Without getting into details on how she became this way, just note that this was placed on her by a Divine source. The Question: I am sure/hoping that the party is going to seek some way to fix this. I have a couple of decent ideas, but nothing that stands out as great in my mind. I have had luck on here with some great ideas before so I humbly seek the guidance of you my fellow RPG's. So, How could they break this curse? Thanks for any help/advice
Hey guys I just have a few questions as stated in title. Thanks for any help. 1. Does Knowledge Religion tell the pc's everything they want to know about a creature just cause its undead? IE: a zombie minotaur. or does it just tell the undead stuff and they would need a Knowledge nature check to figure the minotaur stuff? 2. Does the check allow the PC's to know the creatures HP and/or AC? I was thinking it was just HD and not HP. 3. Is there a list of most common or only allowed questions I can give my group to help them with this? Thanks again. I had a few more but I did not write them down and of course I can not remember them now. :)
I just started a RotRL game. The party will be between 6-8 players per session. I allowed any race/class/traits that are not 3rd party. Let them use a 25 point buy for stats. Max HP at every level up. I want them to have fun with this game and hopefully we will play through the entire campaign. leveling up is based off the suggested levels in the book and not by exp. That will solve any issues with people missing games. I am able to buff up the combats to challenge the party. That's not problem. The issue I foresee is the lack of gear and other cash items that will be needed later game. Is there a way to bump up the treasure, or should I do something like a module between books to give special items as well as much needed gold? Thanks for any input.
A player just asked me if the group is allowed to buy wands for cheaper by getting them with less charges, such as in society play. Is that a common acceptable thing to allow? I do see the issue of how will the Ye Ole Magic Store have a wand of hold person with only 5 charges in it. I am trying to run this game as strictly by pathfinder rules as I can. Thanks in advance for any help. K-Ray.
I started a Serpent's Skull game a couple of weeks ago and we are about to have game night 3 with the party preparing to confront the cannibals.
K-Ray.
I can't seem to find an offical ruling on this. Is the duration based off of caster level or charc lvl? IE: A 3rd lvl charc is 2rouge/1wiz. Does shield spell last 1 min or 3 mins. I personaly think it should be caster level but I want to make sure I'm not telling my group wrong. Thanks in advance. K-ray
Hey guys and gals. Wilmington is starting a new Pathfinder society game play tomorrow and I hope to be one of the players for the first game. I have experience with Pathfinder but not the Society games. Can you please look over the PC I'm making and let me know if it is legal? lots of typing in bound. Aasimar Oracle (Life Mystery) Healer

I did do a search for this and not able to find what I was looking for. In my group a alchy threw a bomb at one of 2 Morlocks that were in the same square for their swarming ability. One person in the group says per the rules they both take direct damage from the bomb instead of one just taking splash. I can not seem to find a rule saying one way or another. Reading it straight out that it hits a target with splash hitting any creature within 5 feet of target square I would disagree. But I do want to be fair. Thanks in advance. K-Ray
So I have been working on a brand new world for my next big campaign. It is based of Elementals. Elementals are used as servants and known as the "Help". There are also factions of Elementals that fight for freedom and all that. I have the world itself pretty much figured out with a force pushing for more and more elementals to rise up and fight the humanoid population. I have a good start, but what I need is a Big Bad End Boss, so I have a clearer set of motivations. Something high lvl, into the CR 20's. Elder Elementals and Ancient dragons will be under his/her/its sway, or atleast used by the end boss. Been kinda running into a blank on this one. Thought about a Primal Dragon, Umbral that's turned Ravener. Then there was a thought to just make something from scratch involving all 4 elements, as some greater being. What do you guys think? Just looking for some brainstorming help. Thanks in advance. K-Ray
I have the lucky of being a PC in a game with a new GM. I talked him into running RotRL, since its supposed to be friendly for newer people. I am normally the GM. I have ran Burnt offerings, so I know what to expect from that, but besides reading back ground stuff I don't know the encounters beyond that. Is our party make up able to stand a chance at succeeding? Im a Dwarf Cleric of Desna with Luck and Travel domains focusing on casting and using reach weapons. the rest are
We have lots of damage output, but no real damage soaker or tank. For now the druid or his Leopard have been the ones in front, with the rouge getting flanking. I stand behind the Druid with his Shillelagh spell going, I keep Touch of luck on him and use my reach weapon for any AoO. Works well for goblins and a random encounter we had with a dire boar. Im just worried for later books of RotRL, is my worry undue? Thanks K-Ray
Hi all, just want a few ideas while im brainstorming this. Going to go run a game tonight and will read this once I get back. Thanks in advance for any ideas. I am making a homebrewed game with elementals and elemental bloodlines being a big part. PC's will have a chance to play as Elemental bloodlines.. Elementals are "servants" and have a huge role in everyday life. With out giving away too much of whats to come, I am making the starting char chooses and giving special benefits to classes based off of the elemental bent. For animal companions I wanted to have them to have a choice of elementals instead of the traditional animals. Any suggestions on how to make the elementals on par of a animal of the same lvl? I know this may be very simple, but I do want it to work well and not screw over any druids or rangers. Thanks guys. K-Ray. |
