Maybe that staff might be the lever to tip us back into faith, the crowbar to open humanity's souls to the gods, who knows? Whatever it might be, it was enough to put a whole army of vile creatures on the edge, looking and asking for it. Even if its not a mystical magical object, it might be a symbol, something to believe in. Goldmoon, do you mind if I cast a simple spell to determinate if the staff you hold is magic or not? It might be a first step.

Hearing the "the gods have abandoned us" speech-once again-Kellandra tries to defuse the situation before arguments give way to a fist fight. Or worse.

She personnally wouldn't like to get a knuckle sandwich from the big minotaur guy.

Personal note: don't get in a beef with a minotaur. Hehe.

To each his own opinion. If the gods wanted to come back, who I am to stop them? I'm a mere mortal, and they are gods. At least, if they came back knocking on my door, metaphrically speaking, I would listen to their side of a story, as if they were an old friend with whom I had a falling out years ago, and who would like to rekindle the relationship. Then I would make my choice. But now, to dinner, I'm hungry.

They are numerous, and vicious, treacherous foes. So they are mostly used as foot soldiers, where they hope to overrun their opponents, and that the fatal blow will fall on the next goblin, not theirs. Not that much different that any human army, when you think about it.

Kellandra thinks a little, then says

That big, fat goblin leader was a little more cunning that I expected. I tried to get some information out of his mouth, but he wasn't as gullible as I thought.

She turns to Varis and adds
That's why I talked to goblins. War is chaos enough, and puts an end to the best ordered plans. You have to get informations to be succesful in a battle, or at least to reduce your losses, don't you agree?

MInd if I try to help you? That blue crystal staff you're looking for, do you know where it was last seen? It probably don't walk all by itself on the roads, I'm sure. Who's carrying it, do you know? Kenders? And if we got news about it, how can we inform you?

Kellandra will do her best to pass for human (disguise for another race-2, pass for human feat +10), as elf can be more easily recognized, and she feels more at ease with her human side than her elf side anyway
