Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"We also saved your life, and all the rest of your property, besides. That statue was an abomination and tried to kill us. I doubt you'll get an apology from any of us." "But perhaps you wouldn't mind telling us who your enemy here is, Master Bookman," Keiva asks, gesturing to the unconscious verrik. "He certainly knew you. What was he looking for?" Keiva turns her attention to the spryte lorebook and scroll, to see if she can read anything on them. Once she's finished that, she'll gingerly take a sip of the verrik's potion, trying to identify it and hoping it might help her friends. Any rolls needed for this?

"The gods smile upon those who help themselves," Keiva says. "They won't do it for us. What's important is that Tzu is all right, but I won't be able to do anything more for her until tomorrow. Perhaps we should look around and see what we can find. Also, did we search the man being beaten outside? The verrik said he had something he wanted. And make sure you tie him up, Pendrick."
Keiva will be able to cast one transfer wounds tomorrow, which may or may not be enough to being Tzu back up to full. But that's all she's got, except for her healing skill. Also, did we completely lose Shekebbet? Or will he be coming back if we ever find healing?
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"Tzu!" Keiva screams as her friend falls to the floor, barely aware of Pendrick taking down the verrik as she rushes to the litorian's side. "Please don't let her die," she prays to Tebu the Just-Quick-Enough, god of narrow escapes, as she rummages in her pouches for bandages and poultices. Keiva adds more prayers to more gods, whispering a profusion of names and titles as she struggles to save Tzu's life. After a quick prayer to Akatha, The Skilled One, Keiva's eyes sparkle and she goes to work. Keiva casts canny effort (+2 to skill check) Wild spell (1d100=9)=diminished, so no effect, Spell failure (1d100=79) OK.
Keiva lets out a huge sigh of relief as she manages to stanch Tzu's wounds. Her whole body is shaking. "Thank you," she murmurs to no god in particular, or to all of them. She strokes her friend's head, gently cleaning the blood from her fur. "Be strong, Tzu. You'll be all right. You have to be." Tzuchaleny wrote: Ouch. I think we're looking pc death in the face here. Don't forget to knock out that bastard verrick. Tzu would not like to be remembered by having an enemy come back to life. Such little faith, tsk tsk.

Time for the faen to step in: Initiative (1d20+2=19)
"Oh no you don't! Not before Maenora's black fingers caress your mind!" Keiva says, giving the verrik the evil eye as she calls upon the goddess of unending headaches and nausea (and not only after drinking too much the night before). Cast mind stab, ranged touch (1d20+3=20), subdual damage (1d6+1=6), Spell failure (1d100=32) Ok! Wow, looks like Keiva should be doing the rolling from now on! And sorry for my absence guys. I've been really busy with wedding planning and other work and I just haven't had time to post. I've had to drop out of a few other pbps, but I'd like to stick with this one. And congrats on the engagement, Fabes!

"If Bookman is the man your thug was beating outside, then yes," Keiva responds to the verrik's question. "He's out of the picture, by the way, as are your sibeccai bully-girls. So why don't you answer my friend's question before you join them? I'll even say 'please'."
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Keiva pockets the purses, and moves the rest of the gear well away from the unconscious sibeccai. Seeing Tzu listening at the next door, she says, "What do you think? Call them out and I blast 'wm with more icefire? It worked well enough with these two." She nudges one of the disabled sibeccai with her boot.
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"Maybe we should give this room a quick search," Keiva suggests. "We might find something useful, or something that explains what's going on, or...something." One gets the feeling that Keiva is maybe more interested in adding some new gewgaws to her already-overflowing pouches.
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Keiva tears off some strips from the sibeccais' garments to bind the wounds, while also making sure they have no other weapons hidden on their bodies and coincidentally, looking to see if they have anything of value. "Why are we bothering to save them?" she asks no one in particular. "It's not like they would return the favor if the situations were reversed." Heal checks to stabilize (1d20+7=23, 1d20+7=15); Search (1d20+4=23)
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
If Pendrick drops the first sibeccai withn his crit, Keiva will stay readied to blast the second one, if possible. Otherwise:

"Can't we just leave and pretend none of this ever happened?" Keiva asks in a small voice, belatedly realizing that the others have already made a decision. "Don't go anywhere, Shekebbet," she tells the unconscious mojh, patting his knee, then follows Pendrick and Tzu down the ladder. She rummages in her pouches to find the components she'll need if she has to cast a spell.
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Keiva was trying to provide a solution in my last post. :) She can spend an hour readying new spells, in this case Lesser Transfer Wounds. Of course, doing so might knock her unconscious, but that's the only healing I can do. The question is, is it safe to stay up for an hour while she readies the spell?
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Keiva kneels beside Pendrick to examine Shekebbet as well, whispering her second prayer of the evening to Hyathine. Looking up, she says, "If you give me an hour, I can probably heal him. Do you think it's safe?"
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"I can't believe four of us are going to be defeated by a statue my size!" Keiva mutters. "Keb-lokal, guide my hand to destroy this abomination!" she calls to the god of things (especially faen-related things) that should not be. Apparently the god hears her prayer, for Keiva's ice axe bites into the statue's side.
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Seeing that everyone else has been unable to stop the statue, Keiva decides it's time she stepped in. Drawing her ice axe, she tries to shatter the mindless thing.

Yay, it didn't attack me! Is this thing alive? Could it be a real faen trapped in crystal? Keiva decides to see if she can reach the crystal faen's mind. Reaching into her pouches, she pulls out some baubles and calls upon the gods to link her mind with that of the faen. Then, hesitantly, she reaches out to touch it. Stop! she cries to its mind.
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"Oooh!" Keiva squeals. "A little crystalline faen - how interesting. She peers closely at it, her hand wavering as if she wants to touch it, but not quite willing to take that final step. She is seemingly oblivious to any threat the creature poses.
Sorry again for my absence - I promise to be around more from now on!
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
I run into the same problem every time one of my characters c.o.c.k.s a crossbow too... :) Keiva hesitantly enters the room behind Tzu and Pendrick, unable to keep the old adage "curiosity killed the sprite" out of her mind. She tightens her grip on her ice axe and peers inside.
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Keiva kneels next to the victim to see if she can do a anything to help his wounds, whispering a prayer to Hyathine, goddess of soothing words and tender ministrations. "There, there, you'll be all right," she tells the man distractedly, rummaging around in her pouches for some bandages or poultices. "If only I had a healer's kit," she mutters. Sorry for my absence - things caught up with me all at once, and my internet went out too!
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"Looks like we're too late," Keiv tells Pendrick. "The mighty lion beat us to the punch." The run didn't seem to do her any good, and she stands for a few moments wheezing, trying to ctach her breath. When Tzu comes up, Keiva tries to breathe normally. She digs around in her pouches until she comes up with a handful of brightly colored string. "I have this, but I don't think it will work for what you want to do," she tells Tzu. "So just what did we stumble into here?"

Before the thug goes:
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Init. (1d20+2=19) Hearing the heavy footfalls of her companions, Keiva thinks, Why do I even bother?
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"This is ludicrous. First, I speak Litorian. And I'm not a child. I'm sneakier by far than any of you bigfeet. I'll go ahead and see what's happening. You stay here. Back in a flash!"
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Keiva waves away her friend's concern. "I'm always coughing. It's this moist sea air. I don't know how you stand the smell of it." Keiva pulls her furs more tightly around her neck. "Anyways, that makes my point. Ruther spends four stanzas wrapping that girl up in nettles. Raeth does the job, and moves on to damsel number 28, the one who can't se herself in a mirror. The one who is conspicuously absent from Ruther's tale, I might add. Raeth rescues thirty-four damsels, but Ruther only manages thirty-one. And of course, Raeth becomes a god at the end of his story, patron of damsels in distress everywhere."
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
"It's not that Litorians are humorless, Tzu, I just think they prefer longer, more detailed stories. A good faen limerick can be an epic!" Keiva stifles a small cough. "I spent hours reading 'The Legend of Ruther Four-Claws' in the original Litorian (it was quite good, by the way), but a very similar faen story, 'The Ballad of Raeth Goldenhand,' is only one page long, AND he rescues no less than thirty-four damsels in distress! I think Litorians like details, and faen like the punchline. In a manner of speaking."
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Keiva should be all done now (beyond tying her more closely to Tzuchaleny, if needed). Added her background (which also explains some of her abilities), changed a couple of skills around to match her background, and got rid of some equipment once I rolled for money. Sounds good Rosey - and Keiva speaks Litorian now too!
Female Loresong Faen Akashic 0/Winter Witch 0
Looks like I'm mostly done! Yay! I'll get the background up soon - not really sure how to connect with anybody else...
Orange, don't worry about it! I've got akashic and witchery covered - we'll see as we go which one I'll focus in. Fabes, I'm assuming max hp. What about starting money? |
