Added discussion thread for Goblinworks Blog: The Blog About Kickstarter.

Wonderful! And as I'm writing this comment you are 102% funded, with 29 days to go. I hope you are all wearing very big smiles!

+1 to confidence in project.

And they hit 1 million dollars in 24hrs. Not too shabby.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Kickstarter is becoming a viable funding route for all kinds of projects, including video games:

An interesting idea, especially for games with a solid, passionate fanbase. Something about it made me think of Pathfinder Online especially considering your business/growth plans.

Just putting it out there.

I'm very interested in art style/direction. Blizzard do an overall excellent job, I recently played D3 and was very impressed by the looks. Guild Wars 2 has a very nice aesthetic (haven't played it). For me at least, the stylized designs win out vs. the realistic ones. However some things like weapons so big they could never be wielded (even in magical settings) do bother me.

@Valkaern, I loved that box art too.

@Arbalester, I hope the graphics are 3d and don't try too hard to be next gen.

Welcome!

I'm hoping Pathfinder will be a mix of some old school mechanics with some new school design. So far the Goblinworks blog has been very reassuring.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

@Burdock. Copernicus is an MMO in development by 38 Studios, I'm not sure if it the setting is Amalur or not, having trouble accessing their website.

Yes, more good design going on. When the PvE is designed with the Sandbox in mind, it makes me a happy gamer!

Oh and... on the hinted at player created content, I would like to offer a hearty, hooray! It would be a very cool idea if players could create and sell their own adventure modules for a game like Pathfinder Online. I've always enjoyed toolkits and would love to recreate a couple of my favorite bandit lairs. But also, think about players designing their own armor, clothes, furniture, weapons and buildings then selling them (or giving them) in an app store. UI and other mods could be done in a similar way. It represents a huge reservoir of content, revenue and community building. I hope you pursue this line of thinking.

I have just devoured the Goblin Works blog and I have to say Pathfinder Online looks like a very exciting project. Honestly, if an MMO developer crawled inside my head and stole my ideas for the perfect MMO, it would look a lot like whats being worked on here. From the people working on the project, to the franchise, to the development and business plan, it's all very impressive. I hope there are investors out there who understand the potential.

I only caught the tale end of the development for the Pathfinder RPG, so it's nice to be here at this early stage. For those who might be interested in how I heard about it, this is how I got here: I missed the Pathfinder MMO license email, although I've found it now (doh!) Yesterday I followed a link on Google+ to a blog (Charisma Bonus), and there was a post on Pathfinder Online's development. And here I am.

My tabletop gaming history goes back to D&D, lots of AD&D then a move to video games (my father worked for a UK video game retailer). For the most part I've kept up with the developments of the RPG world but when I played Ultima Online I knew I'd found something I was passionate about. The games that have most impressed me most were Ultima Online, SWG and WoW. My recent disappointment with SWTOR surprised me. I knew it was going to be a themepark game by Bioware, I knew it. I just thought they would have done more environmentally, socially etc etc. But it was bare bones on that front.

I'm interested in many of the different aspects of MMO's and like everyone else I'm bursting with ideas! I'll try to add them to existing threads, although lots of good stuff has been covered already.

Hi everyone!
