Kara barely glances at the lab, moving quickly and urging her companions onward.

Not wanting to be caught again in the open, Kara turns to the closest room, testing its handle. If it turns, she continues opening it cautiously before beckoning for the rest to follow.
Kara looks back, annoyed at the squabble that's erupting between them and the gnolls. I knew they'd be trouble... She readies her blades, shifting her weight to be ready to spring into action either at the gnolls behind or in front of her.
Wow. Pretty sure that's the first time I've seen a character try to goose another character in an RPG. Kudos.
Kara pauses as she sees in her mind what she might have looked like, alone down on the stage. She grits her teeth and continues around the landing in search of trouble or a way up.
Kara looks back at the rest of the group, and calls out in a low voice, "This way." She starts up the stairs cautiously, her twin knives ready for danger.
Shrugs. The rules don't say WHAT the spell components are, just that they exist. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking some liberties with them, especially things like enchantment spells from anyone who isn't a wizard. Now granted, someone could still make a spellcraft check to identify what she's doing as a spell (because it IS a spell, after all) she doesn't consciously know that what she's doing is magic. She just thinks she's really persuasive. Granted you're right, she probably is the type who would use magic to serve her purposes in such situations. But that's not the case at least as far as her intentions go currently. Now if you were to take some ranks in spellcraft, or if someone else used spellcraft to notice that Kara's casting spells, then your fears would be justified. But Kara would honestly be just as surprised as you are. I've already run all of this by DaWay, by the way, and he's on board with the idea, so I think we're good.
Do you mean casting a spell to compel her? The way I'm playing Kara, she doesn't even know she's a spellcaster. So in essence, by including the suggestion spell, it's just adding a mechanical rule for how well she's trying to motivate you to get up and go. Or in other words, the spell components were touching you gently and speaking to you, urging you to get up. So she's at least not consciously trying to force you to do anything by magical means.
Kara takes Khat's hand as she stands up and turns back to the other. "Let's go." Kara looks for an exit to the open arena they've been fighting in, hopefully a way upstairs, and leads the group in that direction.
Upon turning from the goblin and Fionn, Kara notices Khat sobbing quietly in the corner and shakes her head. Idiot! Why did I lash out at her? She didn't need that right now... She moves quickly to the warrior's side and places her hand on her shoulder. "Khat, I'm sorry. It's alright, there was no permanent harm done. We're all still alive. But it's not safe here, we need to get moving. Can you get up please?"
Nice. This is good stuff. Now...shoot. How to fix Khat.
No, didn't miss it, but since it didn't really play out clearly, I took some liberties with it. "Too little, too late" kind of thing. As soon as she discovered he was trying to sell her a non-magical weapon for over twice its cost, she made her move.
Haha, you thought you were gonna get away with that one, didn't you? Looking forward to the response. I gotta say, the RP today has been awesome fun. Also, the expression on your avatar's face looks perfect for the situation.
"Say what you will, but I have no such guilt. The 'bargained price' was ridiculously overpriced and he knew it. Nor did I ever agree to it. "Know however, that while you're threatening to withhold healing, I will never, ever harm you. As long as I'm standing in between you and our enemies, you're safe. However little we may like or trust eachother, we're on the same team. Got the same troubles, same enemies, and more than enough of both. Now, we could circle each other and growl, sleep with one eye open, but that thought wearies me. I don't care what you think of me, but I'm trusting you. I think you should do the same. 'Cause I don't see this working any other way. "So unless you'd like to face a mob of angry gnolls by yourself, I suggest you leave it be and get moving."
Trying to keep the IC thread a bit free from this discussion - here's what Kara meant: At the beginning of the bargaining, Kara warned the goblin of the consequences of trying to cheat her (i.e. losing an ear/getting sliced up). He then proceeded to do just that, so she followed through with her threat. So when she said he got what he asked for, she meant he had asked for the stabbing by doing exactly what Kara had told her would lead to it. Make sense?
Kara shrugs. "What do I care of good or evil? We've got a job to do, and he was trying to cheat me and wasting our time while more gnolls are surely regrouping to attack once more. Throw your own coin away if you want, but I gave him what he asked for, and I won't give more." She scowls and looks around at the group. "Bunch of hypocrites with your finger pointing and calling evil. While you're at it, why aren't any fingers being pointed at Khat? I had just secured safe passage without bloodshed when she almost got us all killed. Now quit wasting more of our time on the goblin and let's get out of the open before we're attacked again."
I'm glad there was finally some objection to my actions back there. I was expecting more of that and less...approval. I'm pretty sure that's the most evil act any of my characters has done in a PbP, and Kara's true neutral. I don't expect evil acts like that will happen often, as her first instinct was and always is to do things the nice (right) way. But she's in a terrible mood at the moment, after having her diplomatic success ruined and then nearly dying because of it, so I figured it would be fairly natural for her to lash out like that.
"Not magical, eh? Hmm." Kara smiles sweetly at the goblin as she approaches. "Let's see about that kiss then." She leans in close, as if to kiss him, then thrusts the knife deep into his gut, twisting a bit before pushing him down to the ground. "I told you not to screw with me. Thanks for the discount." Without bothering to see if he lives or dies, she turns around with a flourish and walks back to the rest of the group, wiping the blood off her twin blades.
Laughing cruelly, Kara shakes her head. "I'd be a fool to pay that kind of price for any weapon...unless it's enchanted." She cocks her head to the side and looks back curiously at Malak. "Can you tell if it's magical?"
Kara reaches out to cautiously take the weapon and weighs it in her hand, comparing it with her other blade and testing its grip. "Ok...Jank. We can deal. What do you want for it?"
Kara glares at the goblin, pointing her blood-drenched kukri at him menacingly. "No dresses. I need another blade, like this one. And if you try to give me a hole-ridden dogslicer you're going to find yourself with one less ear."
Finally having caught her breath from the brief exertion, Kara spots the goblin that led her to the stage and furrows her brow. "You, greenie! You part of that rabble? Need us to cut you down too, or you gonna give me a nice discount on whatever you're selling?"
DeWay - I took two-weapon fighting as my feat during level up and was hoping to find a small sized kukri from the goblin vendor before it turned into a brawl instead. So...if I were to be able to find one at some point so I can make use of my feat, that would be awesome. Just sayin'.
Kara looks stern but nods. "I think I'm alright. Wasn't expecting to fight them all at once though." She gathers close to Fionn for the healing and smiles at her. "I suppose I have you to thank for still being alive?" She rubs the spots where she was wounded and looks around warily for the next fight.
Starting to feel like she may have a chance at surviving this ordeal, Kara spins around and slashes again at the gnoll in front of her.
Feeling a rush of energy from the healing, Kara jumps to her feet and swipes at the closest gnoll.

Kara falls to the ground lifeless before Fionn's touch brings her back to consciousness.
Kara braces herself, ready to dash at the first gnoll that arrives.
Kara, startled by the interruption, turns and glares at Khat. I had this under control... Nodding at Tolus, she somersaults towards the bugbears, trying to flank with him.
Kara turns and studies Tolus momentarily before nodding her assent. "Speak."
"The noisy camp to the south? What makes you think I'm with them? I assure you I traveled here through the mountains, from the west. Tell me, is it customary to interrogate all your customers like this? Are you going to allow me to browse the wares, or am I consigned to talk to you all day?"
Really wishing I had put ranks into Bluff at the moment...
Kara halts her dance as the booming voice brings her back to the present. She stands upright, looking confidently up in that direction. "I'm here on my own business. Wanderlust keeps me moving, and I find it's easier to stay unseen and out of trouble when I travel alone. This is a marketplace, is it not? I've come to see what wares are available."
Kara's anything but optimized, but she IS rather in her element right now. This is what she was made for. Well, that and slicing things open with her kukris.
Kara walks confidently to the stage and takes the platform. The light, the smell of alcohol, the stage all mix together in a strange sense of nostalgia. This is home. This is me. This is what I do. As if hearing her own far off music, she begins to dance, moving her waist and arms in sultry and seductive movements, the song from her memory driving her on.
Ok, so this obviously isn't the wisest course of action, and has a high chance of getting me killed, but at least I'm playing my wis of 8 well. I'm REALLY glad I took a rank in linguistics last level to learn gnoll.
Kara chances a quick look back at the direction of the party to make sure they're moving before smiling at the goblin warmly. "Of course! I'd love to meet The Mouth." What am I getting myself into? She walks beside him towards the stage, but doesn't hurry.
As the party bard...
Kara gracefully walks forward towards the merchant, swaying her hips suggestively. She bats her eyes at him, and talks in a soothing tone, asking what he has for sale, how long he has worked here, how business is going, etc. to keep conversation flowing.
Kara speaks up. "I could keep the goblin distracted while you all slip past him. I can be...very distracting if I wish."
Kara tries to stifle a laugh as she watches the proceedings with amusement.
Wow, I tell you what this group has had no shortage of real life drama to keep things interesting. Hope he recovers quickly.
Kara takes another swing at the boar as well.
