Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Kalima Raustald says to the man, "Thank you mister Sams for the information. You will live for now but if you are lying to us the other sentence is still open. And this is indentured servitude, not slavery sir. Once you have worked off your debt to the Outpost as determined by Oleg, you will be free to go although a man such as yourself would find it hard to get an honest job in these lands. Perhaps you might consider staying on as a laborer, guard or even a scout once your debts are paid in full."

Kalima says, "Perhaps I can be convincing to him so I shall come with you Ahto. A man facing execution probably won't be motivated to give information. I suggest we consider commuting his sentence to hard labor if he is willing to provide the information required."

After Ahto fails to get a rise out of the man Kalima says, "By all rights bandit your life is forfeit for your crimes and the rope or headsman will be your next course of existence. Unless of course you are willing to do an act of redemption and give us information on how to find the rest of your bandit criminals. If you are to cooperate you will be given food and the sentence will be commuted to hard labor rather than death. Surely your life is worth more than the other bandits who sent you here to your death?"

Kalima Raustald wakes up somewhat better rested although the beds are not up to the snuff that she's used to. Still better than sleeping on the ground however.

"Better than in the wild I suppose. So shall we get a meal and then head out into the world to find more bandits?"

"Taldan Herbs are a pastime for males in Taldor, not for myself unfortunately. It is not a habit I am willing to take up. Still I do appreciate the offer Mr. Oleg. As for lodging they are appreciated although for now we may not have time to relax considering time may be of an essence."

Hearing there is more bandits around Kalima says, ”Twenty is a sizable number but likely we will not be facing them all at once. Divide and conquer would be the most prudent strategy in this case. With the ones we’ve slain here today their numbers should be less. Nonetheless, eventually this leading lady will take notice that her men have not returned and come back here in force. We certainly do not have the manpower right now to man and repair an entire outpost, nor do all of us have the skills to do so. The better option would be to head out and see if we can find the bandit camp and deal with them before they become aware of what has happened here.”

To Svetlana she says, "I take this life up out of circumstance Svetlana. As I refused a despicable marriage I have little choice but to find my fortune elsewhere in a place where none know of me."

Kalima gives a respectful nod and says, "Greetings Master Oleg. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kalima Raustald, a noble of Taldor and one of those hired by the Dragonscale Throne in order to bring order to these lands by steaming the tide of banditry in the region. My fellow travelling companions have the same goal in this respect. I however see that the banditry is but a symptom of a greater problem which is the lack of occupancy in these lands. So it is my hope that once the banditry has been brought to heel these lands can be opened up for settlement and a new civilization can thrive in these lands. Of course an outpost such as this will play an important role and hopefully with more manpower we will be able to see expanded business for all of us. Of course perhaps I am thinking too far ahead on things, tee he he. For now the Bandits are the immediate concern. What can you tell us about them so we can use such information to flush them out?"

Kalima Raustald says to Svetlana, "I am afraid I am not a priestess but I have divine blood in ancestry and one of the gifts this grants me is the power to heal those with good hearts and burn those who hold evil within them. Let us go meet your husband if you do not mind."

With that Kalima follow her and Ahto to meet with Oleg.

Kalima quickly claims a bed for herself by putting her things near it. After all, she is an important person in all of this. She then says to Svetlana after Ahto addresses her, "My colleague Ahto here has powers of divine magic so should be able to hasten the recovery of your husband. If your husband is also a man of a good heart, I can also heal him with the touch of my divine fire. Its the least we can do to provide assistance."

Kalima after cleaning herself up gives a respectful nod to Svetlana and says, "Greetings Svetlana. I am Kalima Raustald, a noble of Taldor. Myself and my travelling companions have come to stem the tide of the Banditry in this region under a charter of the Dragonscale Throne. Any information you can provide us concerning the bandits in this region will be most useful to performing our task. Your hospitality is most appreciated by the way and be assured you are in safe hands with our presence"

Kalima then looks to the others and says, "We should act swiftly and question this brute we captured. If there is any reinforcements who should also deal with them soon enough or they may return with greater numbers."

Kalima feeling better from the healing is not completely healed so her hand glows with holy energy and she shoots herself with holy fire healing herself 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 damage. She then casts mending and prestidigitation to clean herself up.

Kalima says to Ahto, "Thank you good inquisitor for your mending. Humm, it appears these ruffians were far more resilient than I had hoped. If things had gone as planned I would have taken out half of them before they could have been able to draw a sword. Its the first time I've seen my Colour Spray be so ineffective. Still I must admit that I may have acted to hastily although as Aurelius has stated they would have attacked us and better that we strike first when they have us underestimated."

Kalima reels in pain as the arrow hits her. She grits her teeth not being used to being injured and considers her next action but also glad to see that her spell was not ineffective.

If I cast a spell, whose action goes first as it could affect if I have to make a a concentration check. She'll be staggard either way though as 8 damage brings her to 0.

If she can cast before the arrow hits she takes a 5 foot step back and Colour sprays the thug next to her before getting shot.

If she IS hit before casting a spell she'll 5 foot step and shoot herself with a Holy Fire healing 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 damage.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Seeing her magic fail to harm the bandits and a bandit leader drawing down on her she quickly decides caution is the better part of valor and does a full withdraw to the safety behind some cover, hopefully putting some bodies between her and the bandits.

She then yells out, "Get those bandits they are who we're contracted to deal with after all."

My sense motive check didn't go through on my previous post. Here it is 1d20 ⇒ 2 Yea botched it so my character totally overeacts to the situation. As for initiative:

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Looking at these men she easily can see they are foul ruffians and criminals, probably the bandits who they've been told to deal with. She is outraged to see that these men are insulting her.

She grits her teeth, steps forward bravely and says, "How dare you, you brutes! You are nothing but a lot of foul mouthed insignificant beggars, bandits and thieves! You dare provoke the wrath of Kalima Raustald noblelady of Taldor! A thousand deaths would not be enough for your criminals!"

She decides to take an impulsive strike and utters a spell on her lips and unleashes a blast of magical energy, spraying as many as she can with a 15 foot cone across the four men clumped together. And if she is mistaken, its a non-lethal attack anyway. Hopefully this is a surprise action.

DC 15 will save or Blinded/Dazed/Stunned for 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 rounds, blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds and then stunned for 1 round.

Kalima will let the commoners deal with the provisions although she will chip in with some money if the group needs it to help buy supplies.

Kalima nods in agreement and says, "Indeed, if there is no further delays our new adventures begin out in the Stolen Lands. Onward to the new frontier!"

She gives a respectful nod to the man and says, "I am lady Kalima Raustald, of the noble Raustald family of Taldor and descentent of the Lodovka family of Brevoy. I look forward to adventuring in the stolen lands and bringing some degree of stability to such a troubled region."

Overhearing the response, Kalima speaks up and says, "Now that is something we can agree on mister Kegbuster. Anyone who beds down with Devils is far too sinister to ever associate with. The wonder why this country allows such evil scum to get involved in the Reclamation is beyond me. Their "Reclamation Efforts" might as well be considered Conquest when they are involved. How can we be sure that they are not attempting to claim land as a Chelixian protectorate and give their people a foothold in this region?"

After having her things gathered from the inn with a proper escort from her companions she heads back to the group and starts her journey with the party, giving a brief look back to the city gates and then a look at the long road ahead.

Kalima then says to the others "So another journey across rugged terrain I see. How long is it going to be before we reach the closest Outpost?"

Kalima had a rough night sleeping in a horrible bed and with only her undergarments to sleep in due to the lack of her gear. Still in the morning she makes do with her major use of Prestidigitation to get herself clean but nonetheless finds herself in her noble garb from yesterday until she is able to get hold of her stolen gear. She gives a grim look to the Cheliaxians but resists the urge to speak her mind, seeing they are far outnumbered by these bastards. She merely waits with the others looking around suspiciously.

Kalima signs the testimony with a gleeful smile on her lips. Seeing these criminals get what they deserve gives her some degree of closure.

She also looks to Arelius and says, "If you are going there, could you retrieve my things as well good Aurelius. I will give you the key to my room if you require it.

"I will most certainly sign a testimony that they were there to kidnap me. While I admit I was the one who struck the first blow by using a non-lethal color spray to knock two of them out they confronted us with weapons drawn first and their very demeanor and words were an obvious threat of violence if I was not turned over to them. I also had pre-intelligence that there were men seeking to kidnap me so I took their threats very seriously. These men responded by lethal force so thus we responded in self-defense."

She says to the Novice, "Indeed good Cleric of Abadar. I can confirm these men attempted to manhandle. assault and kidnap me. Such acts are unforgivable and must be punished! Lock them away and make sure they do not see the light of day."

Kalima takes a breath and then says, "Well that was rather exhilarating. We taught these criminals that we are not easy prey. I still would make sure the men I knocked out stay that way. The magic I used on them will at best keep them down for a short time although when they do wake up they should be blinded and dazed. After all this was an attempted kidnapping and these brutes deserve what was coming to them. Although I would recommend perhaps questioning their leader for more details before handing him over."

Well two of the thugs are merely unconscious, they don't need to be stablized. Unfortunately its going to run out eventually. You might want to kick em when they are down before they wake up.

Can I move 30 feet snowball attack the Taladan again as it has a 30 FT range? If so here is the roll and damage.If not she'll double move towards him but not into melee reach.

Snowball Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 = 19
Snowball Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

So only a graze but still a DC 16 Fort save or Staggered.

Remember that the Taldan is Staggered. He can only do a single move action during his turn

Kalima on her turn moves after the Taldan, taking advantage of his stagger state to hopefully close the distance. She seeks to get within 15 Feet of him to hopefully take him down with a well placed Colour spray.

Kalima yells at the noble, "OH NO! WE AREN"T DONE WITH YOU!!"

She moves within 30 feet of the running Taladan man and invokes a spell as a ball of deep cold and ice forms and then blasts from Kalima's hand at the running noble.

Snowball Attack VS touch: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 1 = 15
Snowball Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

In addition he needs to make a DC 16 Fortitude Save or be Staggered for 1 round if it hits.

Hopefully can hit him before he runs as I act before he bolts due to a higher initiative.

Kalima has no patience for these thugs. They won't be dissuaded by words as they're likely being paid coin to bring her in alive. She decides to thin the numbers out and not bow down to mere commoners looking to profit off her suffering.

Kalima's face turns bright red and she screams at them, "I am Kalima Raustald lady of House Raustald you pitiful little worm eating common gutter scum! I refuse to be manhandled by a bunch of hired common brutes looking to profit off my capture!"

With that she moves into position and utters a spell on her lips. She unleashes a magical spray bright colours shoots over the thugs, attempting to disable as many of the Taldor's entourage as she can hopefully leaving the leader in a far more precarious position.

Casting Colour Spray in a 15 foot cone. All of them in the area need to make a DC 15 will save. Assuming they're 2 or less HD they get the following effects if they fail. She will start the casting out of reach before unleashing it to avoid any AOO's

Unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 rounds
blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds
stunned for 1 round.

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Perception To Spot: 1d20 ⇒ 9

While Kalima does not see the men at first she is on edge and ready to strike out at a moment's notice. When warned she turns her eye around looking for areas of ambush, hoping she can turn the tables on her potential attackers, thinking of using Color Spray to daze or disable her attackers.

Going with the party and listening in and says, "The Plot thickens further. I never expected such lengths to be taken to see to our capture, well capture for myself and perhaps assassination for the rest of you. I do apologize that I have mixed all of you up in my affairs but little can be done about it now. I agree, we had best not return to the inn and see to it that we find another place to lodge for the night and depart from this city at first light tomorrow."

Kalima returning a few minutes later and after listening to Pavel says, "There appears to be some hallways we could take to hopefully find a back exit. Then again the Kitchen may also have some kind exit as many have some kind of delivery door in the vicinity to accommodate restocking of supplies."

Kalima does not want to get too far ahead of her entourage and instead feigns looking at the tapestries and the armor for a few minutes before returning to the party and hopefully seeing the Cheliaxian woman has moved onto other things.

Seeing the Cheliaxian woman and not wanting to talk to that devil-whore she quickly tries to head towards one of the nearby doors in hope of taking an alternate exit to the location.

Kalima considers Aurelius's words and says, "Taking a husband may be a solution but I escaped Taldor to avoid such arranged marriages. Perhaps one day I may be open to a political marriage but now is not the time for such things, especially since I have no current regency over a domain. Besides, I can hardly marry a man who has no official claim of Nobility."

Kalima wouldn't go to the party with her weapons and gear. All she has on her right now is her clothing, jewelry, coin pouch, Signet Ring and money. Everything else on her sheet is in her room at the inn.

Kalima gives an disliking look to to Pavel and says, "If it is the suggested approach by everyone here may consider the disguise route. This is only a Half-Measure and not a solution to the problem at hand. They will follow me to the ends of the earth if coin or even loyalty to the noble Bourtze drives them. Better that we cut the hounds from their master than have them dog us for the rest of our lives."

"Oh little do you know mister Fagyazt about the ways of nobles. Thwarting robberies, kidnappings and assassinations is more common than you think. I do not suggest murdering them. I suggest having them attempt their crime and thus giving us legal reason to remove them as a problem. I of course have yet to do something like that, but I have had relatives who have used such tactics in the past. Often times you need to let events proceed as they will and act when it is decisive."

"You expect me to wear servant clothing? This is the only noble dress I have with me on this excursion. Any choice we make will only delay the inevitable. Eventually the pursuers will find the ruse and go back on my trail. It would be far easier to get rid of them. If they are trying to kidnap me they're criminals anyway."

"I most certainly did not murder anyone! What kind of woman do you take me for? I am being pursued because I refused an arranged marriage with a brute of a man and did not see spending the rest of my life as his trophy bride." she says to Wonky.

"None of that yet I am afraid. I only know a few tricks of the trade and I never needed to learn spells that would hide my identity."

"I shall explain things later mister Fagyaszt once my livelihood is no longer in immediate danger. In the meantime we should get our way somewhere safe and make sure the hounds of Baron Bourtze are thrown off my scent. I swear if they even try and lay a hand on me, I will smite them with an arcane fury they shall never forget."

"Lets just say I got a tip off from an established political connection. I also saw the men keeping a good eye on me while I was mingling through the crowd. Apparently the Chelaixan woman told them exactly where I would be. And as for a crime, I have committed no crime mister Fagyaszt and am outraged you would compare me to a petty criminal."

Kalima Raustald moves over to Ahto and nods to him and says quietly, "We need to leave Ahto. There are some most vile men working for Marcian of house Bourtze here looking to kidnap me and take me back to Taldor. It is not safe for me to be here."

She whispers to Aurelius, "There is strength in numbers. Besides, if we have Ahto with us, we can have legal means of arresting them for attempted kidnapping if they try to take me. And yes, the inn is out of bounds although I do not want to abandon my gear so hopefully someone can retrieve it from my room before we find a safer place to reside."

Kalima gives a glace over to the Taladan individuals and feigns ignorance while looking back to Ereban Surtova and says, "My you're rather well informed it appears. I can see you are quite versatile in the courtly intrigues. I thank you for an enjoyable evening although with business as it is, we must part ways. Good evening to you."

Diplomacy to part amicably: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Bluff to hide her intentions: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

With that she departs and slips through the crowd of nobles. She then approaches Aurelius and says quietly to him, "We need to leave now. There are men sent by Marcian Bourtze the one I was promised to before leaving my homeland. He is a despicable man I wish not to wed but he is man who will not take no as an answer. This is one reason why I wished to join this expedition, to get as far as I could away. They will likely try and abduct me as soon as they see the opportunity."

She gives a smirk and says, "Oh business, it is a part of every exchange I am afraid Ereban Surtova. One has to take advantage of opportunities as they present themselves. Indeed, I myself am in this city for but a brief amount of time to make some connections before leaving for other affairs. Still a brief amount of enjoyment is worth taking time for I suppose."

Kalima gives a curtsy to the young nobleman and says, "I would be delighted to give a dance with a man of refined taste such as yourself."

She then begins dancing with the man. Making a diplomacy to make sure Kalima follows the proper protocol and leaves a good impression as she mingles with the aristocracy.

And indeed she makes a good impression.

Kalima gives a respectful cursey to the Herald and says, "Greetings good herald. I am Lady Kalima Raustald, Daughter of Earl Drukril Raustald of Korzan and noble of Taldor. It is my pleasure to take part in these festivities good sir. Your hospitality to the various guests of your city is a thankful spark of generosity."

Kalima nearing the time to go to the gathering shows up decked out in her noble garb with jewels, beautifully styled hair and clothing that is far too clean for this neighborhood. She looks to the others and says,

"I believe I am ready to go to this ball my colleagues. Let is travel there post-haste and put on a good impression shall we?"
