Wonky's hangover took almost a full day on the road to clear. Since that time, she's been chatty and breezy, alternating between lively discussion of noble lines with Paval and Kalima, to discussions of faith with Aurelius and Ahto.
The appearance of the trading post lights up her ebullient mood further.
"Oh look, Sprocket! It's the cozy wilderness trading post we were told about! How quaint!"
"Do the dog or the gnome do f#+#ing tricks?"
"Well, that seems rude."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
I get the sense that these folks are not here for the community...
Wonky lets go of the mule lead and motions for Sprocket to come to her side.
Kalima Raustald
|
Looking at these men she easily can see they are foul ruffians and criminals, probably the bandits who they've been told to deal with. She is outraged to see that these men are insulting her.
She grits her teeth, steps forward bravely and says, "How dare you, you brutes! You are nothing but a lot of foul mouthed insignificant beggars, bandits and thieves! You dare provoke the wrath of Kalima Raustald noblelady of Taldor! A thousand deaths would not be enough for your criminals!"
She decides to take an impulsive strike and utters a spell on her lips and unleashes a blast of magical energy, spraying as many as she can with a 15 foot cone across the four men clumped together. And if she is mistaken, its a non-lethal attack anyway. Hopefully this is a surprise action.
DC 15 will save or Blinded/Dazed/Stunned for 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 rounds, blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds and then stunned for 1 round.

Wonky Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Sprocket Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Hoo boy, I should've prepped some alchemical gear.

My sense motive check didn't go through on my previous post. Here it is 1d20 ⇒ 2 Yea botched it so my character totally overeacts to the situation. As for initiative:
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
| DM_Keddah |
I'm rolling initiative for Aurelius to get this started.
Wonky, Sprocket will act on your order of initiative to avoid delaying things if no one disagrees
Aurelius Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Initiative Order
Current situation: 4 bandits with their weapons sheathed within 30' from the party. Another one coming with a handaxe ready from insida about 45' from the party. The leader one step behind him with a longbow prepared.
WONKY'S UP
Wonky Prong, Jr
|
The gnome mixes/drinks one of her extracts, and then takes a five foot step back from the action and towards a more martial comrade, where she draws her curious stonebow (i.e. Ahto).
Alchemical elixir imbibement (True Strike), 5 foot step, draw unloaded bow
She also calls for Sprocket. "Guidate, Sprocket," she says, prepping the bulldog to deliver a surprise if any goons get too close.
Sprocket on a readied attack if engaged in melee
GM, do we have a map?
| DM_Keddah |
Wonky: With a +0 BAB you can't take a Standard action, move AND draw a weapon (Unless I'm mistaken) Since you're already next to Ahto I'll ignore the 5 foot step
The bandit leader seeing the color blast casted against his men readies his bow and watches carefully for the caster
Readied action, attack the next one to cast a spell
Bandit Leader Longbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
KALIMA is up, then Ahto, then Aurelius
Kalima Raustald

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Seeing her magic fail to harm the bandits and a bandit leader drawing down on her she quickly decides caution is the better part of valor and does a full withdraw to the safety behind some cover, hopefully putting some bodies between her and the bandits.
She then yells out, "Get those bandits they are who we're contracted to deal with after all."
"Crack-jawed" Ahto Ulrych
|
Ahto draws his great sword and readies himself to swing, if the bandits rush him.
Readied Action, Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 6) + 4 = 12

Wonky: With a +0 BAB you can't take a Standard action, move AND draw a weapon (Unless I'm mistaken) Since you're already next to Ahto I'll ignore the 5 foot step
To my understanding, you can always take a five-foot step in addition to a move action and a standard action, as long as you're not in difficult terrain. The five foot step doesn't count as a move action for those purposes. REFERENCE
| Paval Fagyaszt |
Paval curses under his breath as he draws moves to Wonky's side, drawing his sowrd as he goes. He makes sure he doesn't hinder any bandit who'd be aiming for Kalima.
Move Move to Wonky while drawing sword. If possible he makes sure he isn't between any bandits and Kalima.
Standard Ready attack to any who approaches Paval or Wonky
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
| DM_Keddah |
The closest bandit moves towards Ahto avoiding his attack and Aurelius' and tries to strike the Abadarian with his short sword but his attack is easily deflected by Ahto.
Bandit #1 Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The second bandit caught by the color burst goes around the party after Kalima.
Double movement to get in melee with Kalima
The other two bandits move to surround the party and try to attack Paval and Wonky.
One of them is struck by Paval's sword on his arm and tries to retaliate but his sword is avoided by Paval's footwork.
Bandit #3 Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The other one gets attacked by Sprocket and tries to stab the dog in response making just a cut on the dogs hair without wounding him.
Bandit #4 Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Wonky, you're up. Make Sprocket's readied attack roll and please remember if you ready an action leave it rolled in advance
Wonky Prong, Jr

Oops. Sorry!
Sprocket Attack on Bandit #4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The gnome loads her curious stonebow and take careful aim at the bandit who pursues Kalima.
Missile Attack, -4 if firing into melee, True Strike: 1d20 + 4 + 20 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 20 - 4 = 281d4 ⇒ 4
"Leave her alone!"
Sprocket snarls and bites at Bandit #4 again. Action on initiative order after readied action
Sprocket Attack on Bandit #4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
| DM_Keddah |
Sprocket bites the bandit attacking it twice before he can even react.
Wonky's stone flies true and hits the bandit attacking Kalima on the back of his head.
The bandit's leader swears under his breath seeing one of his men get in melee with the sorecerer and making his shot harder. He moves next to his horse before taking a shot at Kalima.
Bandit Leader Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 - 4 = 19
Critical Threat Confirmation: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 - 4 = 2
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
His arrow pierces Kalima's chest wounding her gravely.
Current Situation
Bandit #1 in melee with Ahto and Aurelius
Bandit #2 in melee with Kalima (wounded for 4 hp)
Bandit #3 in melee with Paval
Bandit #4 in melee with Ahto and Sprocket. (wounded for 6 hp)
Bandit Leader, next to the horse, 10' from the main group, about 60' from Kalima
KALIMA is up, since she has the same Initiative order as the Bandit Leader she acts simultaneously and hasn't yet suffered the damage from the arrow.
Then Ahto, Aurelius and Paval.

If I cast a spell, whose action goes first as it could affect if I have to make a a concentration check. She'll be staggard either way though as 8 damage brings her to 0.
If she can cast before the arrow hits she takes a 5 foot step back and Colour sprays the thug next to her before getting shot.
If she IS hit before casting a spell she'll 5 foot step and shoot herself with a Holy Fire healing 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 damage.

Kalima reels in pain as the arrow hits her. She grits her teeth not being used to being injured and considers her next action but also glad to see that her spell was not ineffective.
"Crack-jawed" Ahto Ulrych

"You will meet the Law-Giver's Justice!" Ahto cries, calling on Abadar to help him defeat the bandits (Swift Action: Judgment- Justice: +1 to attack rolls).

[dice=Paval's damage]1d20+5+1d6
That's some amazing damage. I think there may be a typo there.
| Paval Fagyaszt |
Paval grumbles as he moves to take out the bandit.
Sorry for the slowness, been a rather busy few days. And that appears to be a typo yes. Paval does 1d6+1. He doesn't have Dex to damage yet, that comes at 3, and he gave up sneak attack.
It appears the proper damage would be 5, as in the 4 from the d6 +1
Wonky Prong, Jr

Thank the Green Mother the tide of this battle seems to be cresting in our favour.
| DM_Keddah |
The bandit in front of Kalima remains unconscious on the ground. The one in melee with the rest of the group takes a step back and readies his sword
Readied Attack if anyone comes into melee: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Critical Threat Confirmation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Current Situation
Bandits #1 & #4 laying down, dead.
Bandit #2 unconscious in front of Kalima
Bandit #3 5' from Aurelius and Paval with readied action, 10' from Ahto, Sprocket and Wonky.
Bandit leader, standing next to his horse
Wonky & Sprocket are up, then Kalima and the bandit leader
Wonky Prong, Jr

"Sprocket! Attack!" The gnome points out the bandit with the bow, hoping to disrupt a further (and likely killing) shot on the sorcerer.
Sprocket is combat-trained and would not pass through a space that would provoke an attack of opportunity, i.e. he avoids the swordsman. 40 foot speed, so plenty of squares to move the 10 feet to archer and avoid an AoA.
Sprocket attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 101d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Wonky loads her strange bow again, choosing to take her shot at the unengaged swordsman.
Wonky Missile attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d4 ⇒ 2
They said that there were going to be bandits. Did you believe them?

Sprocket snarls and bites at the leg of the fleeing bandit as he mounts his horse.

Aurelius dropped his pack and darted forward, leaping and twisting as his blade lashes out towards the bandits throat.
First D20 is an Acrobatics for an awesome leap / pivot mid air to try take his head. All visual, little to no in game effect. ;)
Aurelius did indeed bring his dog. All he would have requested was a tent, enough food for himself and his dog, and some soap and rope.

Ahto moves to intercept the nearest bandit, swinging with all his might.
| DM_Keddah |
The bandit falls to the ground, as Aurelius sword slashes his throat and Ahto's finishes the job dropping his head to the ground.
The remaining bandit is unconscious in front of Kalima who barely manages to stand up.
Bandit #2 will remain unconscious for 3 more rounds, the bandit leader is running away on his horse, the rest of the bandits are dead
We're out of initiative order
| Paval Fagyaszt |
With only one bandit remaining Paval sighs once more as he walks over and begins disarming him, "Good, we at least have one to interrogate now. That way we'll have an idea how big the army is that their leader will come back with."
He turned his head to look at the others, evading Kalima, "Now we haven't we handed princess Braindead over to the Taldans? So far she is the source of all our problems."
| Aurelius Vitollio |
"Those bandits were going to resort to violence whether Kalima acted or not. There was only one way that situation got resolved."
Aurelius straightened from cleaning his blade on the bandits shirt before sheathing it and moving over to Kalima, offering her his arm for support.
"Though next time let us make the first move, and keep behind us so you don't get as injured!" He whispered for her ears alone.
"Ahto can you call on your God to heal Kalima? Miss Prongs, what about you?"
| Aurelius Vitollio |
Perception-1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
"We have a gawker from the Outpost. Female in her thirties. Human. Reckon she works there. One of you talky types should say something to her. Better you than me."
"Crack-jawed" Ahto Ulrych

"May Abadar's mercy bind your wounds and ease your pain," Ahto intones, touching Kalima.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
He then turns and kneels beside the unconscious bandit.
"By Abadar's truth, you will live to face justice," he pronounces, placing a hand on the man's chest.
(casts stabilize)
| DM_Keddah |
Kalima stays quiet still hurting from her wounds as Paval berates her but her glare could burn cities. She turns to Ahto and says Thank you Ahto, it's good to see at least some of my companions have some decency sarcasm dripping from each word.
The woman at the gates seems scared out of her mind until Paval shows her the charter. Thank Erastil! I thought you were just another band of bandits and we were about to get caught in a war... she opens the gate a bit more to let Paval enter. I'm Svetlana Mr...?
| Paval Fagyaszt |
Paval made a short bow, "Paval, Paval Fagyaszt. These are my companions Aurelius, Ahto, Kalima, Wonky and the always delightful Sprocket." He motions at each of the others as he calls out their name.
"Do you run the outpost on your own miss Svetlana?" It would explain the bandits. It was easy to threaten on a single person if you came with a group.
| DM_Keddah |
Svetlana regains her composure Not on my own Mr. Fagyaszt, my husband is the Oleg that gives it its name. Unfortonately those knaves put an arrow through his leg two weeks ago and he has trouble standing up for long times she pauses for a second But, where are my manners, please come in, I'll prepare some food for you
"Crack-jawed" Ahto Ulrych
|
"Thank you for your hospitality, Svetlana," Ahto replies, giving the woman a respectful nod.
"I will be inside presently. First I would like to dispose of these corpses, lest they attract wild animals."
With that, he unshoulders his pack, and begins unbuckling his armor and weapons.
Once down to his shirt and breeches, he retrieves his shovel from his pack mule and begins digging a mass grave about 50 yards off the main road.
He turns to the others and says, "Remove their weapons and armor, and check them for any other possessions of interest. And...here..."
He tosses his set of manacles to the Paval or Aurelius, whoever is closest. "Make sure that one's locked-in before he wakes up."
