hm, i consider Scarwall (in CotCT) to be one of the bigger ones i can recall.

Scarwall - counting partial squares:

761 squares
63 doors
37 stairs (or elevated spaces)
19 pillars
Handful of other minor fixtures

I just got my Dwarven Forge stuff in and after opening a couple sets, I think I may have got too many sets. Each set has roughly 200 squares worth of dungeon in it. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the biggest dungeon is in any Pathfinder AP is?

Mike,

As an experienced player of games, there is nothing here that I didn't find adequately explained in the rules. The cards are also read literally. This is going to sound odd, but when we came to understand how well designed the game is, everything you wrote above was painfully obvious. The only reason we ever made mistakes was second-guessing ourselves. You can always shoot for more clarity, but I really don't feel you missed anything the first time around that shouldn't be obvious if you read the rules and cards carefully.

Fair use. Failing that: on a copyright claim, the publisher would have to demonstrate that it caused them financial harm. Have a nice day.

I know you're well-meaning, but that's simply not legally accurate. The Community Use policy is a license specific to those items in the Community Use section. No specific license is granted or denied for use of the maps.

And even if it was, I already own the items. I can scan or photo them myself. It would just save time if someone has already done so. It's not any different than downloading FLAC files for CDs I own. Just saves time.

If anyone does have a link to small scans, photos, etc. of the Flip-Mats or Map Packs, please let me know.

I own just about every Flip-Mat and Map Pack. The challenge with having so many is remembering what I have. I've come up with a brilliantly simple idea. I just want an image of every map and can just scan through them electronically to save time.

So my conundrum is finding good images. Each of the product pages has pictures of each map (aside from the Beginner Box). However, the images have the word SAMPLE across them. I understand why Paizo would need to protect themselves but would really like a similarly sized image without the watermark because it would be much easier to see the images in previews.

However, I don't want the full PDF. I'm just looking for high clarity sample images to use in previews.

Anyone know where I could find these?

This is cool but really, just start printing copies of all the handouts in Adventure Paths in their own item and you'll have some seriously happy GMs.

Trying to avoid spoilers here... but basically the party has wiped out all of the goblins and all that is left are intelligent humanoids below. The challenge in my mind is that I've got it in my head that the only reason these intelligent humanoids are here is because they recruited a goblin army. Now that the army is dead, if the PCs leave, the NPCs seem like they'd move on.

Someone stated that GM guides really don't provide great mechanisms for figuring out how to adapt some of this stuff. If it was my own adventure, I'm sure I would have had a dozen ideas. But this is an AP and I'm a little worried that I'm going to derail things if I just have these guys wander off. If nothing else, the pacing of treasure just took a hit and would need to be adjusted.

Perhaps what I was really asking is more "what do you do if an AP gets derailed?" Or maybe "are AP written in such a way that they get derailed so easily?"

I've got a group running through Rise of the Runelords and they've just killed the goblin boss in Thistletop. Party resources are fairly depleted and it'd be a decent point to rest, from a resource management point of view. However, we haven't killed all of the goblins in the area and there are two dungeon levels below us.

The party might like to rest. I can easily see how they could be interrupted by goblins left in the area or even some of the people downstairs coming up. So maybe resting here isn't a great idea. Maybe they leave and create a camp someplace else... but then wouldn't the dungeon denizens leave when they realize all the goblins are dead?

I'm really just unsure how to thematically make a rest work in a world that ought to be ever-changing. It's a little different in old-school dungeon crawls because they're just dumb monsters that consider a room their home. With this, these are intelligent humanoids with a purpose for being here. Wouldn't they just leave?

Thanks for helping out an old GM who feels rather noobish.

My current thinking is that encounter packs are the best place for Huge figures. This is not an ideal solution, but the way they were implemented in Rise of the Runelords leaves room for improvement. The silver bullet on this hasn't been fired yet.

I'm happy to support whatever gets more Huge (or larger) figures out there... but I was very pleased with the RotR distribution. I got 2 of each of the models I was hoping to. However, if I ever wanted more of the Demon (which is a distinct possibility), it is a little problematic because I'd end up with some useless Karzoug statues or I'd have to buy them (more expensively) as singles.

Would the encounter packs help with this? I guess where I'm getting at with this is like I could buy a case or two, then singles of the ones I need more for. Would that really be less expensive than buying them, in effect, as all singles in the encounter packs?

Maybe I'm a fringe case in your overall marketing plan but I seek enough miniatures to run any (reasonable) encounter in the adventure paths. So sometimes I really do need a lot of minis!

Ya know what that the Pathfinder Online campaign really needs? An Add-on to buy additional sets of miniatures!

Shadow Hound = Shadow Mastiff, if anyone else didn't find this obvious.

I'm so upset about the lack of a preview that I'm only going to order 2 cases now!

Whenever you decide to create an MMO that isn't based on minority interest (forced PVP), let me know. Forced PVP, particularly with lost items, has been a tired concept since the days of MUD. There are a minority of extremely competitive players that enjoy that. Most mature players do not. We have very limited amounts of time to game and need to make the most of those times... even if what we're doing is repetitive (resource gathering)... it is enjoyable. Unlike having some snot-nosed kid who has more time to play the game kill you for no truly relevant reason.

This is exactly why I didn't Kickstart the first time around. I had a sneaking suspicion that what was being built was relying heavily on concepts that felt 20 years outdated... today's post confirms that.

Figure out how to make this a PVE game and I assure you that you'll capture the majority not the minority. If you want a commmon sense check, just count the number of WoW servers - pvp and not.

My exposure is pretty limited but it's WoW just like WoW has always been, only better. The game is a grind and that's exactly why people enjoy it.

You can get a 10 day trial if you want to check it out.

Any thoughts on how to store the battlemats? I'd like to store these in a way they won't get worn out if at all possible. 5x4.5 or so is a little tricky to find a container... 3x5 index card container just won't cut it. Leaving them unfolded at 10x16 would work but I can't find a properly sized protector.

Does anyone know what deity is associated with this item?: 12 Holy Symbol (Star Amulet)

Does anyone know what deity Holy Symbol 9/54 belongs to?

What deity does the Holy Symbol in this set belong to?

How are you dealing with stuff like # of torches someone has? I'm currently using card sleeves and magic marker on the sleeve. The cards remain in pristine condition but it's a bit of a pain.

I'm curious what else people have tried?

In case anyone is wondering, the Bonus Bestiary monsters are printed now in the Bestiaries, so this product is now unnecessary.

I know I'm repeating what's been said already... but these are the nicest Water Elementals I've seen to date. Very cool!

I'm a little disappointed that the catfolk is not as sexy as the one in the Bestiary. But if it matches the AP, that's great.

Hmm, for what it's worth, I wish the Map Folios were more like this old one. In contrast, some of the newer ones like Carrion Crown, I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to do with it. Your adventure is largely railroaded between various towns (not meant as commentary) so it's really only good in understanding how the land is laid out, which isn't really all that important to the narrative. On the other hand, the Rise of the Riselords map pack has practical maps that I can pull out and use. Even better would be a map pack that includes 1" squares for every location in an adventure path. That would be like a dream come true...

Until PFB releases a Linnorm, what are you guys using to represent one? I picked up a Star Wars Krayt Dragon and also have a Frost Worm from Descent, but neither really gets the massiveness of a Gargantuan or Colossal miniature right.

What are you guys using?

That's what I'm going to be doing on this first batch of 50 or so I need. Come March though I really hope there's a better solution. Not that I'll probably rebase all 2200 of these minis but still, there are upwards of 10,000 people who are potential customers of these bases, especially if we can get bases all the way up to Colossal.

I'd like to second non-slotted bases. It might be a bit of a niche market but I am re-basing some minis to tide me over until Pathfinder Battles fills in the gap. Looking around at Litko, GF9, or similar vendors is a bit of a drag. They're more expensive, first off, but more importantly, the bases simply look different.

Non-slotted bases help in two ways:
1) They allow you to rebase non-Pathfinder minis to look the same as Pathfinder... this will be a big, big deal in March 2013 because you'll have Reaper Bones Kickstarter showing up, the 28mm Demons and Devils, and my guess is the Dungeon Crawler stuff will be around the same time period too. For me, I have over 2200 minis coming from all of this... would love to have a reasonably economical way to base these as Pathfinder until I can get official Pathfinder minis for all of them.
2) Having extra bases around lets you resize things on the fly. For instance, let's say I have a Huge Fire Elemetental but what I really need is a Gargantuan. Having a Gargantuan sized base allows me to use sticky tack on my Huge, attach to a Gargantuan base, and I've got what I need in a pinch. Instead, I'm going to use my Rune Giant because I don't have a base the right size.

I'd personally be interested in these anywhere from Small to Colossal.

I've started collecting Pathfinder Battles miniatures, the punchout pawns, and also Reaper Bones miniatures. I'm going to be at a point where I have many of certain types of models, such as goblins... but even Ogres. I'm looking for advice on how many of everything to keep.

So, the questions are:
What is a reasonable maximum of each item to keep? As a GM, what's the most of something you'd ever think about putting into an encounter? What's the most you'd find in an adventure path? Does it vary by monster? Maybe Manticores are normally only one per encounter but when you're higher level, maybe a dozen is reasonable? If you have different variants of the monsters, like a regular Ogre and an Ogre fighter, should these count towards your maximum or should you keep a bunch of each?

I'm considering culling anything from 6-12 but really have no idea what is reasonable for a GM to want to keep around.

Thoughts?

I would also be in the market for replacement bases. I'm just starting to collect minis for RPGs and am thinking about buying other brands' items but I'd want them all based in a standard way. Of course, the only reason I'm wanting to kickstart the collection is having just 1 set of minis (Heroes and Monsters) isn't enough to do anything with. This would just tide me over until there is more stuff in the Pathfinder Battles line anyway.

I'd agree. I pretty much just want to be as close to 100% super within a case I get every model. Then it's just a matter of how many dupes of each model I get (because I'll buy several cases).

I'll throw in and say this a great product as well. I got a full set in the first box but bought two just for good measure. I had one piece broken, nothing superglue won't fix.
