Is it just me, or did a bunch of posts from last years Gen Con just appear? Maybe there's a hidden message somewhere...

As of last night, my group has officially begun the Kingmaker AP.

Here are the PCs:

Nysar Taemarvia, NG male elf enchanter 1
Kichakit, CG male tengu inquisitor of Gorum 1
Ferros Aldrantes, CN male Taldan cleric of Gorum 1
Hamish the Quiet, N male half-orc ranger (spell-less variant) 1

And their various animals:

Scrub, wolf companion of Hamish
Charlemath, heavy warhorse (steed of Ferros)
2 light horses (belonging to Hamish and Kichakit)
Ted, pack mule

Chapter 1 - Blood and Beginnings

Kichakit happily accepted the charter granted to him by the Swordlords. An unusually free-spirited tengu, he had grown tired of putting the flock before himself. Now, he had a chance to write his own story - a story of battle and glory, one that might even get him into the Pathfinder Society. At the very least, he would be able to put his sword to good use in the name of Gorum.

An elf by the name of Nysar also was granted a charter at the same time as Kichakit. As luck would have it, Nysar was also something of a scholar, though he was more interested in documenting the peoples of the Stolen Lands rather than his own exploits. But, Kichakit knew better than to turn down a potential ally, and so they set off down the South Rostland Road towards glory and adventure.

It was dusk on 6 Pharast. Nysar, as usual, commented on what a lovely day it had been, and Kichakit wondered if the elf was blind. Every day of the journey had been chilly and damp, and mud was everywhere. There was no time to correct the elf - not that he would acknowledge any opinion but his own - for both travelers caught sight of what appeared to be the sparks of a large bonfire rising over a slight hill down the road.

Hurrying up the hill, the pair caught sight of a bloody battlefield centered upon a burning wagon. Lifeless bodies were strewn about the field: dozens of small, green creatures Nysar knew to be goblins, numerous humans who presumably were part of some caravan, a number of horses, and a half-orc clutching a longbow. Not all of the goblins were dead, though, and a wrathful howl drew the adventurers' gaze towards an iron-clad warrior holding a bloody greatsword above his head. The warrior seemed unafraid, despite being surrounded by a half dozen goblins, including one astride a most hideous dog.

The goblins converged upon the warrior, and the mounted one managed to connect with a swing of his strange pole-axe. Kichakit, eager to join the battle, leapt off his horse and ran down the hill. Nysar, not so eager to run off into danger, stayed back and reached into his spell component pouch for some sand. He muttered some arcane syllables and tossed the sand towards the goblins, successfully putting two goblins and the disgusting goblin dog to sleep. The dog's rider toppled off and landed face first in the mud.

Some of the goblins, shocked and frightened to see a "bird man," turned their attention to Kichakit, while another goblin couldn't resist messing with his sleeping buddies. Their leader, however, wiped the mud out of his eyes and attacked the mysterious warrior again. It looked as though the warrior was about to succumb to his injuries, but he stepped back and shouted a prayer to the Lord in Iron. The warrior laughed heartily as his wounds began to mend themsleves. Apparently, this was a fellow clergyman of Kichakit's.

Kichakit landed a vicious blow against the lead goblin, and finished him off. Nysar, seeing that the mischievous goblins were waking each other up, extended his hand and produced a blinding cone of colors, causing the goblins to fall upon each other like limp rags. Seeing that his fellows had all been defeated, the final goblin - himself wounded by a savage peck by Kichakit - attempted to run. The iron-clad man would have none of that, however, and hacked the passing goblin in two with his greatsword.

The warrior, covered in blood and breathing heavily but still alive, thanked the two but quickly set about to check his allies for signs of life. All were dead save the half-orc, who somehow was clinging to life despite a grievous neck wound. A healing spell stopped the bleeding, but it appeared the half-orc's throat was permanently damaged.

The warrior introduced himself as Ferros Aldrantes. Apparently he and the half orc had been part of a group also granted a charter to explore the Stolen Land. They had decided to travel with a caravan to Oleg's Trading Post in favor of larger numbers. Now they were the only survivors, the caravan being too inviting a target for hungry goblins. With a common goal, Kichakit, Nysar, Ferros, and the half-orc Hamish agreed to band together and continue south.

Is there a forum dedicated to the campaign setting & related "fluff"? Am I blind, or do discussions of that sort belong in one of the product forums?

As I am fixing to run Kingmaker, a line in the player's guide has been bugging me. On Page 10, in the Campaign Traits section, the following sentence appears: "Some campaign traits also grant teamwork benefits if you choose to begin a campaign with a character who has a preexisting relationship with another PC."

A few quick searches of Stolen Land, the Player's Guide, and the messageboards leaves me empty handed as to what these teamwork benefits are, or when they will be defined. Does anybody know if these benefits are related to the whole kingdom-running system? Or are they more like the teamwork feats from the APG (which wouldn't really make sense, considering that book won't be released before the AP is finished...)?

The line baffles me, since none of the traits mention anything about such teamwork benefits...

Forgive the pun; it was unintentional (at least until I noticed it). I can't help but wonder about Gozreh and what his place in the cosmology is. I'm hoping that someone has a better grasp on him/her/it than I...

Gozreh is an incredibly ancient and (supposedly) powerful deity with a nature-centric portfolio - at first glance, at least. Why would most druids choose to follow the Green Faith exclusively, when Gozreh has dominion over that which they venerate? Perhaps I misunderstand the power of the divine or the reasoning behind "nature" being a part of his/her/its portfolio. Certainly, his description in Gods and Magic puts a much greater emphasis on his power over the winds and waves rather than his dominion over nature, so it may be that Gozreh really is more of an elemental deity rather than a deity representing the totality of nature. This would explain druids' preference for the Green Faith, but not why Gozreh is considered the "deity of nature."

The question of Gozreh's portfolios brings up another question, one relating to the position of said deity in the cosmos. Gozreh is said to dwell "at the horizon, where the sea meets the sky" (Gods and Magic, 18), though unlike many of the other deities it is not specifically stated where he/she/it really dwells. If Gozreh is specifically tied to Golarion - or indeed lives on the Material Plane - how is it that he has worshipers among the marids and djinn that live on the Elemental Planes (as stated in The Great Beyond)?

---

As for Groetus, I was just wondering about connections (real, or in the imaginations/rumor mills of planar denizens) between him and the Proteans.

Obviously, the proteans want the universe to be subsumed once more by the Maelstrom. Groetus's grand purpose is unknown, but it is said that once he hits Pharasma's Spire, the state of the universe will be forever altered. Since the Maelstrom (and the proteans) were around long before the Spire and Groetus, one might conclude that Groetus's apocalypse might be the eventual absorption of the Great Beyond back into the Maelstrom. It's just a thought :)

--
EDIT: An addendum to my ponderings, before I go to sleep:

What is Gozreh's connection/relationship with the First World and its inhabitants? Likewise, what does the Green Faith teach about the First World? There was precious little about that plane in The Great Beyond, but it seems to have a good deal of influence in Golarion judging from all the gnomes and fey hopping around. Here's hoping more info will surface about it soon!

The region you are in is the Duchy of Niebold, in the kingdom of Lobraan. The ruler of the duchy is Duke Garilund Durdigan, who lives in a keep atop the large hill in the center of town. Niebold is mostly filled with forests, and is inhabited mainly by humans. However, there's a sizable population of elves and shifters, and the mushroom-like myconians dwell deep within the forest. Sometimes the mushroom men come to Hawk Hill to trade, but rarely do they stay for long. The other races found in the Player's Handbook are found in Hawk Hill as well, but to a lesser extent. The most populous of them are the dwarves (mostly associated with a merchant company owned by the Klondurain clan) and the halflings (they seem to own many of the popular businesses in town, including a tavern called the Spinning Coin and a shop called Goldenfoot's).

About 30 miles south of Hawk Hill, on the shore of the Lake of Lost Whispers, lies the small fishing village of Marenta. Meanwhile, there's two settlements to the north of Hawk Hill: The elf village of Barrale (located a ways into the Velias Wood) and the village of Karin (comprised mostly of humans and shifters).

Popular religions of the region include the Unbroken Circle (Avandra, Corellon, Melora, and Sehanine) and the Church of the Light (Bahamut and Pelor). There's a temple for each in Hawk Hill.

There are rumors of a thieves' guild operating in town, and some say that it's part of a much larger organization, but there has been no solid evidence to prove that they exist.

Greetings and welcome to Fourth Edition.

Current List of Players:

Please make 1st level characters with the following information in mind:

I was gone for a week, and now none of my dots are showing up... I swear I remember the dots showing up on things I've posted to much longer ago than a week. I relied on them to find the pbp I was in :(

Any advice?

First off, I really like the whole bonded item feature of the Pathfinder wizard. But, I'm wondering what would happen if an enemy wizard gets killed by the PCs and they take his bonded item (say, a ring enchanted as a ring of counterspells). Do the PCs get to benefit from the ring's enchantment?

Oh, and I'd like to find out if the wizard gets his bonded item for free... In other words, does he begin play with the ring/weapon/staff/whatever? Or must he spend money on it before bonding with it? (Which brings up the question of how much a ring, amulet, or nonmagical wand would cost)

*Spoilers for PF#7 Below!!!*

Spoiler:
Derro just got a whole lot cooler!

Spoiler:
See Edge of Anarchy for details.

EDIT: Just realized this could be considered a spoiler...

I've been kicking around ideas in my head for random Golarion adventures, and I thought a little adventure involving an adherent to some evil deity spreading a general sense of fear and dread across a town as an act of devotion to his deity would be a neat idea. However, I've encountered a stumbling block as to what evil deity has a portfolio that syncs up with the whole idea of Fear.

Lamashtu seems close, but misses the mark as a god of true fear (for me at least), as her version of terror is more a sort of twisted madness and rampaging mutant creatures than an insidious, unknowable fear... Rovagug, unknowable as he is, is out as he is more about unstoppable, inhuman destruction than anything. Norgorber seems more interested in swift, silent death and whatever gains it will get you, so I'm not sure he would be interested in the idea of fear. I could be wrong, as not much has been said about him. Urgathoa is probably out, though not much is known about her besides the fact that she sponsors evil undeath cults...

So that leaves Asmodeus and Zon-Kuthon... Z-K might be into spreading fear, what with his whole darkness schtic... However, he might be the least known of the evil deities by Pathfinder fans (I can't think of one reference to him in any module yet...). Asmodeus seems like he could use fear in order to scare mortals into following his idea of order, so he's a possibility...

Anyways, sorry for rambling. The whole point of this thread was to ask if anyone has any ideas for gods of fear, or if the Paizo guys know of a god of fear (or if one of the "Pantheon of Many" espouses fear as an ideal).

As the title says, I am no longer able to keep spending on both Pathfinder and GMM, so I must ask to have my Gamemastery Modules subscription canceled. Do not, however, cancel Pathfinder!

Thanks!

My gaming group seems to stick to D&D pretty tenaciously, but we sometimes take a break to play board games. Usually, it's Monopoly, since we don't have that many other board games. Thus, I'm looking for suggestions as to what board game(s) you all think are worth the money.

Thanks!

In the interest of getting my order out of the pending status and sent to me sometime soon, can I request to remove whatever items are "currently unavailable" from order #836599?

A question for the Paizonians:

Is Numerian leaf armor considered light armor? By all appearances I would think it is light, but the entry in the appendix doesn't come right out and say what category it is in...

Just as the thread title says... Are the Tatzlworms described in D0 (and also the Slurks in D1) found in Varisia?

Male Human Rogue 4 / Game Designer 1 / Dungeon Master 5

If the map is correct, you should be almost to the Temple after following the trail through the dense Q'barran jungle for many long days. The hot sun beats down upon you through the canopy above, and the drone of insects and calls of various jungle animals fill the air. As you slap another swarm of insects away, you notice that the trail ahead grows noticeably wider, and is mostly clear of debris and undergrowth. Two birds, both with vibrant red and purple plumage, take to the air from a nearby tree and fly off.

Make spot checks!

Hi! I'm starting an Eberron game here on the boards in which I'll run the Eberron super-adventure Eyes of the Lich Queen, so I'm looking for a few more Eberron-lovers to fill the party up. I've already got three players, just need one or two more to finish off the party. Check out the discussion thread >here< if you're interested!

Hi there! I have a question about my GameMastery modules subscription. The order is in my order history, but I have not yet been charged for the module nor is the PDF available to me yet. Now, the payment for the module was declined the first time because I had canceled my card and forgot to update my info with my new card, but I clicked on the link asking me to change payment form for the order and did so to no avail it seems. Any light shed on this would be great!

Thanks!

Male Tiefling Rogue 3/Transmuter 8/Evil Genius 4

Greetings everyone!

I am interested in running the Eberron super-adventure, Eyes of the Lich Queen, on these boards for a group of 5 players starting at 5th level. Knowledge of the Eberron Campaign Setting will be very useful for creating your characters and their backgrounds.

Character Creation:

Ability Scores: 32 point buy (+1 point for being beyond 4th level)

Available books are the PHB, PHB 2, DMG, ECS + other Eberron books, Complete X series, Magic Item Compendium, and Spell Compendium. When the time comes when you want to pick a prestige class, run your idea by me to make sure it will be allowed. The Frenzied Berserker will not be allowed, nor will PRCs that do not fit the flavor of Eberron, such as the Red Wizard of Thay and the Suel Arcanomach. The same is true for certain base classes from the Complete X series, such as the Asian-themed classes like the Shugenja and such.

You start with 9000 gold, but you may only spend 1/4 of that (that is, 2250 g) on a single item.

Info on the the starting bits of story needed to tie your character's backstory into the adventure will be forthcoming when I receive the adventure in the mail.. which will probably be on Friday.

As a DM who takes perverse glee from killing his players (though it doesn't happen nearly often enough - darn you, clever players), I am very excited about this adventure! Just looking at those pictures from Gen Con of the dungeon maps covered in red dots of death made me froth at the mouth... figuratively, of course :)

Let me first start by saying how much I love the Demonomicon articles. If my love for them were a dragon, it'd be a great wyrm red dragon (whatever that means). I'm relatively new to the whole mythos of Dungeons and Dragons (only been playing for about 5 years) so I'm just learning about all the legends and lore that have been created by this great game. The Demonomicon of Iggwilv articles have been categorically awesome and have helped me a lot in getting a feel for the planar dealings of the Greyhawk Campaign Setting. One of them has even given me the idea for a whole new campaign (I won't say which one just in case my PCs frequent these boards).

Which brings me to my request: I'd love to see a devil-specific version of the Demonomicon. The devils haven't gotten any love in 3.5 (no new devils in MMIII or MMIV, yet a bunch of new demons) except for the new Fiendish Codex II, which of course came out after the demonic version. So please, sate my thirst for Lawful Evil goodness!
