"Fascinating," Perrin says, examining the fallen mummies. "Definitely real mummies, but somehow animated to protect the tomb against intruders. I wonder if there are any more?"

Yes, technically Perrin should be an extra, but I figure you guys can use the edge.

A swing and a hit!!

Perrin hesitates, not sure that his weapon will be effective against the creatures. Then, he swings wildly anyway, hoping for a connection. His wild strike connects with the undead horror!

Perrin swings his rifle butt at the lead mummy, but misses!

Perrin takes a stand bedside Aleksei, also holding his rifle like a club.

Perrin, obviously fascinated, just nods.

Perrin leans upon the handle of his shovel, hefting his canteen. "John Perrin. I'm from Shytown, that is, Chicago, USA. I studied a little bit of archaeology, but I'm really more of a historian. Still, very glad to have this opportunity."

Perrin joins in the dig party, apparently excited to be a part of the whole affair.

"I doubt that we can destroy the scroll, but maybe we could temporarily make a truce to our mutual benefit?" Perrin shifts uncomfortably. "Or could we pretend to work with him and just betray him later, when it suits us? That might gets us closer to the Spider."

"Yeah," Perrin adds, "Who's to say that thing isn't an ancient recipe for fruit salad?"

Perrin notices Aleksei's sudden concern. "What's up?"

Perrin, likewise, flops onto a bunk and in minutes, is asleep.

I'm ready now, sir," Perrin says with a broad grin. It is apparent that he is excited about the prospect of visiting Egypt.

Kaitlin shrugs. "Logical. I like the idea."

At the mention of sleeping arrangements, Kaitlin sighs. "We really should go two to a room, for safety and security. Father, would you mind my company?"

"Same here," Kaitlin says in a low voice. "Either we're really in the past, or someone is going to incredible lengths to make us believe that we are."

"We're not in Kansas anymore, that's for sure. It's almost like we've stumbled into an episode of the Twilight Zone. I mean, they don't speak the language, they don't use Euros, they don't know what coffee is...

"Maybe the briefing is wrong. Were we lied to? Who did they get their information from? Maybe they were lied to?"

"He can have it," Kaitlin shrugs. "What concerns me more is the fact that our host doesn't seem to understand German. What kind of people are these Barovians?"

Kaitlin also orders a water and the beef stew and bread.

Kaitlin follows Patrick and the Russian in, keeping her head low and taking a seat near the fire.

Kaitlin, dressed in street clothing, shrugs. "Better to look like tourists than a goon squad," she says in accented English. "Less chance of frightening the locals this way." She flashes a disarming smile.

"You know, those things will kill you," she comments to Kolya.
