About John Harker

Backstory:

John was a simple man once; he used to lead a normal life as a property manager and evangelist for the Church of Asmodeus. He had a wife, and was about to start a family. One day he met with a client at a new grand estate his partners opened up, a strange man, with a powerful aura about him. That's when everything changed. When he returned from their meeting, his wife, Mina, became severely ill. John did the best he could to keep her alive, he met with the clergy, and they "did what they could",but eventually Mina died...or so they thought. She rose from the dead one night as she was being prepped underneath the Cathedral. John was about to start the ceremony for his wife, when he heard "She's alive! Witch, Kill her! He ran outside to see Mina had escaped from the catacombs, and was now reeking havoc on the streets. His joy was ripped out of his heart as he saw the vile things she was doing, this was no longer his Mina. She was captured, tortured, and later burned at the stake. John was confused by what took place, was this his punishment for denouncing his faith of Asmodeus? John was filled with rage, grief, and couldn't help but think about the strange man he met, and that it all started after that fateful day. He met with the strange man once more, but this time, at the local tavern. He told the man of his story, and how he wanted to exact his revenge on that church, and it's followers for their lies and the suffering his lovely Mina had to endure; it was there John was given an offer he couldn't refuse. He became apart of the man's crew on his ship, his second in command, and was bestowed a powerful curse and hundreds of years of knowledge. It's been several years since Mina's death, John is now captain of the ship, and heard of a nearby city of Kintargo. It is there John has arranged to meet a contact, in lieu of the turmoil taking place in that city John wonders if he can gain their political favor.
