The Exchange

Much appreciated, much appreciated. Though I will probably just allow the gentlemen to grow tired of chasing me on their own. I'm not used to living in a city where the law is quite so... effective. I may just wait out the matter here for a few hours.

The Exchange

Well, it was a problem of price, you see.

The young man drops onto his feet and straightens his overcoat.

I paid twenty silvers to the gentleman to get an introduction to your organization and he then decided that he wanted five hundred gold. I said "no" and then he said "Then I'll walk in there and tell them you're a villain" or some other nonsense. Things escalated from there.

Oh and by the way, Bows John LaCroix at your service. I am a wealthy and powerful sea captain and I am looking to join this organization in the hope of expanding my shipping business.

Knowledge (local):
You have a passing familiarity with the LaCroixs, they're a pirating family who has robbing ships and making deals in the Shackles for centuries but last time you heard about them the Andorans claimed to have put them out of business. If this kid is a LaCroix...he's penniless. And shipping business? The LaCroixs probably haven't been honest sailors since Old Azlant fell.

The Exchange

Around midday, there's a commotion outside the doors of the Exchange's meeting place. Two men are having a violent argument, a burly merchant sailor and a wily looking young man with tattoos and dress from the islands of the Shackles. The situation gets uglier and uglier until the Merchant sailor pulls out a knife and the slashes at the young pirate. More words are exchanged and then the Merchant charges the pirate, who pulls out his own knife and runs the Merchant through. There's a scream and someone calls for the guards. Suddenly two of Absalom's Finest are chasing after the young pirate. The young man leads the guards on a long chase through the streets. You watch as the Pirate escapes using a series of acrobatic maneuvers. Reinforcements are called and two guards are posted at the intersection in front of the Exchange, waiting for the young man to return.

About twenty minutes later there's a knock on the back door of the meeting place. The young pirate is hanging upside down from the roof of the building when you open the door.

Begging your pardon, are those two surly looking blokes with the uniforms and the swords still standing out front?
